Oh my heavens, this is incredible. I listed to Crooked rain all summer on my bicycle. and seeing how happy it makes them to play it here wil make me even happier when I listen to it later..
Pavement always looks to me like the cool slacker high school band that got permission from their principal to leave school for a week to go on tour. As long as they finish their homework!
A couple years ago I was living in Moscow studying math. I was working so hard I thought I might lose my mind. The "Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain" album was one of my few sources of refuge. On friday nights I would come home to my dorm room crank up the volume on my speakers, throw on "Unfair" and bounce around my room screaming along with Mr. Malkmus.
I *think* that this is from the WHFStival in D.C. In which case I am bouncing around in there somewhere. Still have the 'stellen PAVEMENT' t-shirt from that day...Never before have i felt such a fogey as i do now, posting this to yotube.
I loved how Pavement back in the day looked and acted like they could give a fuck about things. Malkmus still acts like that in his solo shows, he will probably still act like that come next summer.
And everybody's got a fucking phone! and probably a selfie stick shoved up there ass. but that's where yt comes from so I guess I'll shut up then. but something is different. can't call it.
***** I saw Streetlight twice. First time was in Albuquerque. They had The Suburban Legends open for them. One of the best Ska shows I've ever been too!
***** Oh yeah!!! I forgot Dan was there as well. He had a new band at the time. Can't remember their name though, but they did play a couple MU330 tunes.
I rediscover this like once a year. gotta love bob
They actually looked happy at this show
This was the time they were biggest. 1994 was a special year for them ❤.
Bob comes in early on the chorus the first time, and stays early the whole time. Malkmus thinks this is the funniest thing ever.
Right?! So adorable
Early? He finished before he was supposed to have started.
Well he's probably stoned af here, so no wonder. Malkmus i mean, not sure about Bob
he’s still cracking up when he starts the second verse
To be fair it is pretty funny. Like it would have to be intentional for him to fuck that up 4 times in a row without catching himself
How awesome must it be to play to a stadium and have thousands of fans bouncing in time to your songs. These guys are really in a class of their own.

every year brighten the corners and crooked rain are my summer albums, lots of slanted and enchanted this year tho
crcr + skating
I love this video! I have never seen SM smile as much and as gregariously as he was in the beginning of this!

slacker rock with good grades
It's also 'Unfair' I didn't see Pavement in the 90's.

This video makes me smile, which actually doesn't happen very often. Pure energy, pure fun, pure genius, pure PAVEMENT!!!
cot damn, malkmus is gorgeous
I just love how much fun you can tell they're all having up there.
they always look like they have so much fun when they perform live
God I love goddam electric guitars. Forever and ever amen.
He nailed that second chorus...

@beatyw I wish I was old enough to enjoy the 90s.
Man did I miss out..
Cool instrumental Brinx Job at the end. Please post more if you can. This is excellent.
check out The Clean
God save the clean
haha! pavement are the love of my life. this video really shows their characters
Both the audio and the video took half of the song to adjust to Bob's presence, lol
The 90's were fun.
needs more cowbell
...oh wait
Wow wish i was there how much fun that looks.
cant wait to see them on the reunion tour.
steve is having a GOOD TIME!
Bob's the best screamer of them all!
I love a cowbell me.. And the 3D’s
This made me smile so hard!
When they get to the percussionists part Stephen Malkmus couldn't be more amused.
I'm almost sure that the main conflict in Pavement is SM with Spiral Stairs
I think you're right...
An instrumental version of Brinx Job.
Proto-screamo with Nastanovich on stage
YES!!!! my favourite track on wowee zowee!!!!
Hfstival Festival, RFK Stadium, May 14, 1994
Seen them with Mercury Rev at the Glasgow Barrowlands in 1995 - what a night!
Paddy CFC That sounds amazing!! Did Mercury Rev open for Pavement?
@@AirBallers31 yes i was there too
@@AirBallers31 fwiw pavement seemed very quiet after mercury rev
Many thanks for this.
WOW! is there more?
Pavement ist rad...
Fantastic!!! Vintage pavement you can't go wrong
Malkmus looks like a young Bill Nye
i share a birthday with bill nye
More of this please.
thanks. It's my new favorite Pavement song.
I loved how Pavement back in the day looked and acted like they could give a fuck about things. Malkmus still acts like that in his solo shows, he will probably still act like that come next summer.
lol the eq on those toms tho
People used to have good times at concerts back in the day. Crowds don't look like it today though... Everyone looks like they're on depressants.
And everybody's got a fucking phone! and probably a selfie stick shoved up there ass. but that's where yt comes from so I guess I'll shut up then. but something is different. can't call it.

You go to the wrong concerts baby
Go find some local bands playing in a basemen somehere
There’s some real energy there
where was this gig played?
Anyone got the full footage of this performance?
@xPsuedo Agreed. I always have a good laugh when I watch this.

what a fresh faced steve malkms!
bob looks like he got his wish through the make a wish foundation to sing with pavement.
I went to their reunion tour in Portland. :D
HFStival! I was there!
gotta love them
Malkmus has kinda of a Lou Reed ish singing style sometimes, its rad.
Was this at RFK in DC? What was the event? HFStival?
They made sort of a comeback a year or two back.
Not sure if theyre touring right now.
Google it or something. :-p
damn that guy that doesn't really play that much on the instrumental side of things is soooooo fucking important
2:34 , that's the 90's!
Fantastic early instrumental of Brinx Job. Honestly better than the Wowee Zowee version.
Cowbell helps.
which show was this?
Unfair. off Crooked, Crooked Rain.
What show was this... DC or Lollapalooza somwhere?
Will Ferrell could play Bob in a biopic
more cowbell
great vid, do you have more from this show?
I think it is. If you're into Pavement at all, it's pretty interesting stuff.
I was at this show.
Matt Selander Where did it take place??
pavement much better that sonic youth much better
These guys hate the 80's!
wats the name of the first song?
@allanosterm totally. excellent album
it just doesn't get any cooler than pave.
can someone plz tell me what song this is?
wow
whats the first song?
Unfair, then it goes into brinx job
@andturim
"Unfair" until 2:30 and then "Brinx Job."
soooo sloppy! love it!
looks like it's from an HFStival
who is screamong the chorus ?
who's charles francis VI?
@jacobmal
Curious, why are you comparing Pavement to Sonic Youth and why are they better?
No being an AH, just want to hear your argument.
Thanks
Wait! WHAT! Don't mess with me. They're not. Are they?
I've always seen Michael Rapaport playing Bob. I almost see more of Will Ferrell in Westy.
yeah, but the worst tom tom sound I've heard in a while. Amazing they got a sound in the studio. an example of NO tuning experience
Horrid tom sounds
i know! alot of bands worry too much about things. they should all take influence from these guys and just have fun.
You said it
Them and Beastie Boys.
why didnt malkmus ever scream live?
I am sure weed was part of it :)
i think the pavement show at the tibetan freedom concert would rival it.
Nerd rage
Brinx yob
where was this??
HFStival at RFK stadium in DC
@enjoyenjoi638 Dude! So did I!
3:41 Malk does not look impressed...
@beatyw
No they weren't - you just had some REALLY good drugz (hope ya shared).
You can have your opinion. I disagree with it, and the hyperbole, but knock yourself out. It's cool.
Pavement is the best.
The last psychedelic band
uncool dispatch what?
say goodnight
Good sound and the band sounds great. The camera work in this video is terrible.
No.
Yeah, I agree with you. They suck
