I sang this song at my local karaoke bar tonight (January 15, 2016), five days after David Bowie passed away. It was the FIRST TIME in over 20 years of singing karaoke, that my song choice received VERY STRONG applause as the title appeared on the screen, BEFORE the lyrics had even started! Then, EVERYONE in the bar sang along. Young and old alike. It was quite remarkable to share in the experience with so many. I truly hope I did David Bowie justice with my rendition of his song. R.I.P. good sir, and thank you for sharing your gift of music with us.

I sang this song three weeks ago on a rural house attic with a group of 20 friends. It was the closing song for a beautiful karaoke evening day. I barely looked at the screen because lyrics are in my mind for many years. For me was a magic moment. Every people around me, listened in absolute silence. Finally they gave me a beautiful clap. I'm not a singer and I think don't have a good voice, but it was my little tribute to the best musician along the time. I miss you Starman.
REST IN PEACE, DAVID. YOU WILL BE MISSED BY MILLIONS OF FANS ALL OVER THE WORLD.

In 1970/71 when i was 9 or 10 years old i was in a boarding school in Hertfordshire 🏴 Me & my classmates dressed up as spacemen & did a slow motion dance routine to space oddity, It was at the end of term & all our parents came along to watch, Every parent & the all the teachers & headmaster Stood up & applauded us & afterwards they came up to us & said how touching it was, Now 50-ish years later I still remember every second of that day & the fun times we had making the costumes & the rehearsals......
This is my favourite david bowie song because of those fond memories i had as a child 😊😊

This k version confirms the soulless stupidity of the exercise. Sing along at home with the original. Or start a band!
+Ethan Hill Singing along to this version of David Bowie's song, and other karaoke versions of his songs, is the way many people (myself included) pay their respects to the artist. It isn't "soul-less" if you sing the songs with feeling and passion. Singing can actually be cathartic during a painful mourning period. This particular version of the song has helped me grieve the passing of David Bowie in my own personal way.
