Actually that is the normal speed of the game, originally intended. Because the implementation of the game is dependent to a hardware specification it ran faster on newer computers (486 and up). As you I though the speedy mode is the normal way of playing the game, further research revealed that I was wrong :) making the game a whole lot easier. Look for SPFIX63 by Herman Perk (Speedfix v6.3). It also features new level support and other functionality.
