10 days before Frits passed away, he spoke with me about the last performance with Poguestra. It is really sad that the last session came to late to participate, I’m sure he would be proud in all of you..... R.I.P. Frits 🙏
Guys, this is definitely the best cover version of one of the best christmas songs ever written. May you all have a merry christmas and a happy new year. May god bless you all.
Nahhh... they'd censor the best christmas song... so they by default cannot be the best... Just imagine being am 'artist" that censors the art they're covering because of SOME PEOPLES modern sensibilities... fucking poor show if you ask me.
And this give me goosebumps!!! Ive been a fan of The Pogues ever since and Shane Mcgowan's poetry married to a delightful music. These lads are also the reason why I enjoy being drunk at times. Cheers from the Philippines!!!
Thanks guys for such an amazing cover! You just made me extremely happy after spending a week at the hospital. Hope to see many more covers from you guys 😍
The funny thing about the Southern Bogland trolls I come across on certain Brexit channels, is it forces me to actually learn more about the wonderful culture of Ireland and the history of the Gaelic in order to find material to mock them with. I love my little island and her colourful history and the little Ireland next to mine also.
Awesome job as always. It is so fantastic that we can come together with a cell phone and an instrument and make such wonderful music together. Love being a part of this. Truly amazing work!
You did an amazing job. I really enjoyed your cover. Hope Bon Jovi sees it. He can learn from you 😂😂😂 I love you guys. Hoping for more in 2021. Happy Christmas and please stay safe ❤️
this is really lovely. People from different parts of the world, enjoying the song and well able to puck out the tunes. Heritage, tradition, craftsmanship and joy all rolled into one. Mo cheol thu, Shane! I'll have a pint
Absolutely fantastic.......... but as lifelong Pogues fans, the same as me, yous should not have changed 'faggot' for 'braggard'. You've succumbed to the PC brigade. Shane would not change it if he sings it again (please God).
Hi Fr. McGreer, thanks for your comment. I take full responsibility for changing that word and I'm the only one to blame. This is a case where someone would have been disappointed in any case (with or without that word), and I expected some reactions from lifelong Pogues fans (as you and me). In the dilemma of the choice I decided to think about those people who might feel offended or discriminated, if any. I can tell you that I even asked to some Pogues members which term to use and I was told that braggart was also used by Kirsty. Anyway I'm glad you liked it and I trust you appreciate what this performance means to us. All the best // Dan
Hi Johnny, thanks for your comment. As I replied to other comments, I take full responsibility for changing that word and I'm the only one to blame. Someone would have been disappointed in any case (with or without that word), and I expected some reactions from lifelong Pogues fans (I am one of them). In the dilemma of the choice I decided to think about those people who might feel offended or discriminated, if any. I feel a kind of devotion and absolute respect for songwriters, therefore I asked to some Pogues members if there was any term which we could use as an alternative and I was told that "braggart" was also used by Kirsty. I think this was a fair approach. All the best // Dan
We hear so much about the f****t word that she says to him, but nothing is said about the vile things and names that he calls her? If you change her comment, why are you not compelled to change his comments? I say leave the lyrics alone. Terribly sexist.
Hi Dharlana, thanks for your comment. You actually propose an interesting question, which deserves a reply. I fully understand your point of view...and I might even agree with you to some extent. However, IMHO, the word f****t lies on a different "level" compared to other vile things and names, regardless to the gender of the person using those words. I believe that f****t is a word of the past. It's a term that in today culture is very much seen as a word of discrimination, although it's VERY CLEAR that when the song was written there was not any intention to offend anyone (this is taken for granted). It's a word that clashes with the culture of Inclusion and Diversity which is a key element of The PoguestrA. Regarding the other vile things and names, etc... we could debate if "scum bag" is worse than "old slut on junk", for sure is not a "fair" exchange of expressions between the two characters of the song. However I take full responsibility for the decision of substituting "f****t" with "braggart" (which, by the way, was also used by Kirsty sometimes when he sung it). So it take full responsibility if I disappointed you and other people. Anyway, I trust you captured the main essence of our version and the special meaning that it has for all of us. All the best. Dan, Scum Bag and founder of The PoguestrA :-)
@@thepoguestra6450 You’re not a scumbag. You’re a freaking coward. The song should have been sung as written. Like the guy wrote below, a hard core Pogues fan would never have changed it. And so what if Kirsty sometimes used the word “braggart”. But most of the time she didn’t and sung the damn song as it was written. Really liked everything else that you’ve done up to his point. But I’m done.
I was about to make the same point. Thank you. How would you respond to him, if you were her? Surely she was provoked and she couldn’t think of a word that rhymes with “bass hole.” If you’re that easily offended, do yourself a favor and never go see the Broadway show “Hair.” You won’t last 5 minutes.
Ya, @@richardfamous6466 I know what you mean about Hair. I saw it 5 times in the late 1960's and early 70's. Not sure why you think a person would be offended, but ok. Guess I passed the 5 min mark. hahaha Happy Christmas to you!

Delighted to play a part on such a great cover with 70 other very talented people from 10 different countries. Love it 💚
Well done Derek my friend ❤️
Magnifique. Merci pour ces 5 minutes de bonheur.
Bella da accapponare la pelle! È questa LA canzone di Natale, bella da togliere il fiato.

Great job people, it’s a shame that they had to change a lyric 💁♂️
Who is the singer who appears at 2.49? She looks familiar but I can't match her name on the cast list
And John Dunne.
Killed it! Too bad you couldn't get Dylan to record a verse, he's doing nothing.
Hi Sean! Which Dylan, sorry?

The lyric is "faggot" not "braggart", no need to censor art. Otherwise a fantastic collab.
WNHAT IS A RAGGERT?
Braggert?
Hi Chris! It's "braggart"

Real Pogues fans would not have dropped 'faggot'. If Shane had the courage to write it you should have the courage to sing it.
