    Thank you so much, you have taken the fear out of doing the fusible batting for me on a project bigger than a table runner. Love all the encouragement, your a very special lady.

    Thank you Anna,
    I never knew what a challenge fusable batting could be.!
    I have only used the batting off the roll that you purchase by the yard. It was good to watch how you smooth out both side and iron.
    This was not boring, anyone who quilts will find this interesting.
    You make it look easy!!

    Thank you for showing how to use fusible batting . I’m getting up there in the years and this looks like an easy way . I’m only doing small decorative quilts now. I found your channel when looking for info on crafting with wool. Sure enjoy your videos. I’m from Michigan and nice seeing your travels .

    Every time I sandwich a quilt, I have a big struggle trying to cleanly cut the batting ( I always buy a much larger size batt). So, I'm watching you lay down the back, birth the batt from the bag and as you begin to place the batt, the dawn of a thousands suns breaks open in my brain!! How did I never think of cutting the batt before I unrolled it??? That small mind jog has just made my most disliked quilting action turn into smiles!! Anna, you've done it again! Great video. I"m going to go from using the spray which goes everywhere to using fusible batting and cut the bloody thing on the width before I unroll it...thank you!!

    Hi Anna, still watching and enjoying your video's. We lost our Lab. Tamy about the same time you lost Enzo. We are lucky we still have our Boxer cross called Bertie. It leaves a big hole when they go. The weather here in South west France has been so very wet. So we must keep on sewing to keep our spirits up!. My sewing friend Pam also enjoys watching you. I was inspired by you to buy fusible batting! Although in my rush to get it, I didn’t pay attention or even know that one sided was an option. You said something about liking the fusible on both sides so I rechecked my order and I had indeed bought the one sided fusible :(. Now I have to return it!! It seems useless to have it only fusible on one side. Now I’m on the hunt to find the Hobbs!

    Hi Anna, thank you for posting this video. I too was not aware that fusible batting could be repositioned. I found your tutorial to be so useful. However, as most of my quilts vary from 90 - 96 inches in size I do not think this would be my go to method. Firstly, I do not have a large enough space to lay a large quilt out and use the dining table as my preferred working surface which takes about of 2/3 of the quilt. Secondly, after seeing you wrestle getting the batting out of the bag, I would have no chance... my grip is so weak you see! Is it like working with cling film and sticks to itself a lot I wonder? I usually use safety pins or 505 adhesive spray which would have a similar result as the already fusible wadding. I do have about a metre of the fusible batting somewhere but that is in readiness for a project such as a bag or similar. I totally agree with you about having the binding ready otherwise I find I am rushing off to do the next project before finishing off he last one. Love all your videos too!

    Thanks so much for sharing our Heirloom Fusible Batting with your viewers!
    I wanted to let you know that we now have this batting available in 2 1/4" x 25 yard strips - perfect for creating rugs, bags and totes, straps, sashing and so much more!
    And to thank you for sharing this tutorial on using our Fusible Batting, I'm happy to send you some of the new strips to try - just reach out!
    Two things for best results:
    1. We recommend this batting be fused using a DRY iron - the fusing medium is water-soluble and if it gets wet it may not stick;
    2. We also recommend quilters PRESS rather than IRON when fusing this batting to fabric - it needs high heat for at least 3-5 seconds in each spot for best adhesion.
    Again, thanks so much...and Happy New Year!

    This is just the video I've been wanting to see. Do you think it'll work with minky on the back? Normally if I use minky I don't use any batting but the quilt I'm doing right now has a lot of white and the minky is a medium torquoise so I'm afraid it'll show through. To add to my angst the minky is not smooth but is dimpled and pretty thick. Do you think it'll work or should I just resign myself that I'm going to be doing a lot of pinning?

    • @quiltroadies1695
      @quiltroadies1695  5 лет назад

      Minky is a wily beast...you may end up pulling your hair out...I think it would be worth taking a 18 inch square of plain fabric, the minky and fusible batting and give it a go on a smaller scale to see if it is worth the risk...then report back to us!!

    I measure the batting that's left and include a paper inside the bag with those measurements. I make sure that paper is visible from the outside. Then, next time when I need batting, it's easy to see if there's enough in that bag.

    Anna, Does the fusible batting gunk up your needles? I really want to try it. I love your sewing room/quilt studio and I love your videos.

      It happened to me. It was a nightmare! I don’t know what I did wrong but I did follow the directions. I was so disappointed. I still have some left over. Will try again.

    Steam or no? I tried fusible with a wide backing, and it didn't stick. Ever have that issue?

    • @quiltroadies1695
      @quiltroadies1695  5 лет назад

      one time this happened to time and I found out the batting was a fusible only on one side...what was the point of that??? I do use steam..in fact I steam the heck out of everything!

    Thanks for the info and demo on using visible batting. I'm assuming there aren't any issues with your needle gumming up or you wouldn't continue to use it.

      has never happened to me in over 10 years but if it did I would assume it was a bad batch

    • @cathynuytten798
      @cathynuytten798 Год назад

      I might have got a bad batch because mine clogged my needle so badly. I changed needles three times and finally had to remove the batting.

    that's great! Thanks. I was getting some puffing when I tried to pin baste and I thought I had done a really good job! Can you tell me what type of iron you are using? Do you like it? I would really like a cordless~

      I LOVE my cordless iron...it is a Panasonic. The only learning curve is to remember to dock it instead of sitting it upright.

      @jodieroundtree488 5 лет назад

      Thank you! I currently have the kind that sits face down anyway but I must be the only person in the world whos hand doesn't sit on top of the handle when I iron so the little legs don't retract and pulls my fabric everywhere :/

    Such a great helpful video!!! I’ve struggled using fusible batting. I didn’t know that I could steam press it. I thought I had to count seven seconds each time. Great idea to ditch stitch it before you do anything else. Question: What are the dimensions of your ironing board?

    • @quiltroadies1695

      I’m not able to measure it but my guess is 2 feet by 5 feet🙏

    Hi. I am a total beginner to quilt making. During our lockdown I have made two 1000 patch scrap quilt tops, oh yes?!?!? All in different patches, 1000 different pieces of material from, tweed, velvet to cotton. Can I ask how the fusible batting works on very UNEVEN quilt tops. ThankYOU any advice welcome. Kim

    • @quiltroadies1695
      @quiltroadies1695  3 года назад

      I am not sure but I think if all the seams on the pieces are pressed well and you used steam to set it...it would be ok. A good experiment...let us know!

    PLEASE HELP...i am doing a queen size t shirt quilt with pictures on each block..the blocks look so pretty with just the picture..i am trying NOT to tack inside the block around the picture. can i use fusible batting and only sew in the ditch and not do any tatting or quilting in the block. THANK YOU

    • @karenflanigan9425
      @karenflanigan9425 4 года назад +1

      The fusible washes out so you will need to quilt Iinside the blocks if they are bigger than the recommended quilting spacing of the batting.
