The thing is under the current practice what each state contribute is not accurately calculated because VAT is currently given to the state where it's remitted (usually the company headquarter).
The bill seeks to change that to where the consumer is because they're the one who bears the tax burden

You are not sensible to support this bill. What Nigeria needs is complete structural reform to a federal system
You can’t tie peoples hands with 68 items in the federal govt exclusive list and expect them to make money for you.
These tax reform will make states to over tax their people stifling the poor into poverty and also reduced income for many of these moribund states will cripple them even more. In theory it’s good but in practice suffer go kill majority of Nigerians only to benefit few states like Lagos that was structured by fg to be the highest earner. Obasanjo added Ogun state the highest earners too.
This bill is like trying to wear white T shirt when your body is covered with dirty engine oil. Remove the 68 items in the exclusive to make these states viable first, then do the tax reform and allow free fair election so intelligent productive people can take over these states and make them productive. That’s the only way the tax reform will work.
All the policies of tinubu are evil policies to impoverish all nations subsidize energy and electricity it’s compulsory to keep cost of living low. Mumu theory policies you are praising .

@@JoyNweke-jn9pwPeople like you would always exist in the comments section, unable to talk without insulting another person like as if being insulted would make you want to listen to that person at all. And besides all what you typed that you thought you said something sensible was pure trash, this new bill doesn't "stifle the poor into poverty", it's the exact opposite. In Fact, it's the current style we're in that causes poverty. The government of a state can't just unnecessarily tax people without having them do something that's even taxable in the first place. That's the point of the bill. GET THE CITIZENS OF YOUR STATE TO WORK SO THERE CAN BE MORE MONEY TO GO ROUND AND ECONOMY CAN ACTUALLY GROW, THAT'S EXACTLY THE STYLE THE U.S.A USES AND YES THERE ARE STILL GOING TO BE POORER STATES COS FINGERS ARE NOT EQUAL BUT IN THE END IT MAKES A GOOD EFFICIENT SYSTEM THAT MAKES SURE CITIZENS ARE WORKING AND NOT JUST COLLECTING FREE MONEY JUST BECAUSE THEY EXIST.

Apart from your personal income tax and those of your staff, there's no tax. And for those structured on a contract or earning less than 1m a year, there is no PAYE tax. I observed something about PBAT, expectedly, nobody likes the pains and harrowing experience we are all passing through due to his reforms but this man seems to know what he's doing. Not Obasanjo, not Jonathan, not Buhari have the temerity to embark on these sweeping reforms. He took the bulls by the horn not minding whose ox is gored. Unfortunately, we all are used to freebies and being spoon-fed. The man might not get second term but not Atiku or even Obi can do what he's boldly doing.

He will get second term if he wants.
The bill will reduce the power of the northerners to influence their region since they don't have the economic power to do so, while the income of Lagos will surge up and there'll be enough money from that state to push his second term.
      It's also a tactical move.
He knows the north are against him now, but he'll weaken their financial power through the bill.
I also believe he has the inec and other parastatals needed in his pocket, so he'll win.

While it might be painful for many, especially the general public, the long-term benefits will be significant. On this, I fully support our President.

Thank you for your in-depth explanation and I can understand what exactly is embedded in the new tax bill of which I quite genuinely in support. However, there’s the necessity for the government to introduce comprehensive corruption prevention bills and measures to enhance the effective implementation of the reform for the all sectors development of the country. Kudos to Tinubu our president.
