bianchi1885 I loved them a lot as I grew up, they aren't much older then me and there are many songs that I hold close to my heart. Then I moved on a bit but I still come back frequently. I still listen to them at least once a day. So now my granddaughter who is 2 listens with me and loves them.
My 20 year old daughter and I are going to see them next month. I have turned her on to my music and she has turned me on to hers. Talk about bridging the generation gap!
Simon LeBon has carved into the history of modern music because of his unique vocal sound. No one sounds like him! Nick Rhodes is creative and thoughtful and philosophical in this approach & ability to compose and arrange. It’s all fabulous for the listeners!
You never ever had filler stuff for me as far as I am concerned. The music always touches me in my soul. That is how I got into your music in the first place. I was 16 and now I'm 50. he new stuff is as good as the older and I love it all!
I met Nick, Simon and Warren after a gig on the Greatest and Latest Tour . Nick was so down to earth ... we talked about all their music with him .... a real star... who appreciates his fans .. great memories
I used to go to the Rum Runner in Birmingham every week in the early 80s so I used to see the band around quite a lot, even chatted to them a few times, so it was fascinating to see them evolve from local band into the global phenomenon that they became. Good to see Nick Rhodes still has his little black and yellow EDP Wasp synthesizer behind him in the studio - it was cheap and plasticky but created some great sounds which suddenly made electronic music creation possible for more people and was probably instrumental in kick starting Nick's exploration of sound. I had one back in the day, but I pushed it too far and it's sadly no more :(
simons melodies n lyrics, nicks key parts, the bands parts...make duran...thats what makes a band ...interaction..duran duran are very good at playing together
Love Duran Duran and their music and videos a long life fan from 1980 and forever, got great respect for them as they didnt get it easy they have great passion for what they do and endless unique talent Simon's agreat song writer and doesnt get the credit he deserves, Simon and Nick working endlessly for keeping the band Duran together other bands would have called it a day, that's why I have got great respect for them nearly 40yrs in the business brilliant they should be in the music hall off fame why arent they...........don't you and Duranies agree!!!!!!!
I like Simon, but I could listen to Nick....All. Day. Long. He's always been my favorite and frankly, was grossly underused in their early career videos.
Simons “I’m so glad it was us who had that success” reminds me of Queens Roger Taylor saying “we were always popular, and that got right up some peoples noses”, a jibe at the “too cool” music press who constantly slated them, all through their career. DD are much the same position, they’ve always been popular, they’ve always been able to sell out arena tours, they’ve always been hated by some sections of the music press.
+kittyCat Furbabies Simon was NOT AT ALL Arrogant in Niagara Falls last week. IN FACT it was SIMON AND NICK who BOTH SIGNED my album..John just SNUBBED me. EVEN their travelling band AND singers who was with Duran Duran shook peoples'hands..AND made eye contact..John needs a refresher course on COMMUNICATION WITH his audience.
I got a smile from Nick when I was sitting up close at a concert years ago; I was only a teen and nearly passed out.:) I can honestly say I've never heard one bad thing about the man through all these years, what a total sweetheart!
I've always wondered if there was any friction between the two primary song writers of the band. I'm glad they have figured out how to work together over just separating and going solo like many bands seem to do.
David Klecker They write the music as a collaborative effort. Simon writes most lyrics after they have a full rough draft of music. Then the tweaking begins to make things fit better.
@@tracymccowan4232 Well it's his band. So that's not a surprise. Simon works well with Nick as we have seen over time and they have perfect chemistry. It is always curious to me how they come up with the "tone" of the album. Is that everyone, or was that Nick primarily.

I can guarantee that I am one of a very few people who will use the names King Crimson and Duran Duran in the same sentence and say that I like both bands!
My music taste is quite subversive but DD will always be in my top 5. Actually it’s not that subversive it’s just not Coldplay and their ilk. I do think the bands you grew up with stay with you forever. I bought DD’s first album in 81 age 13 and they’ve remained with me through thick and thin. They’re a very clever band.
Not sure what she is talking about as far as staying away from politics, they've always covered aspects of life in much the same way Paper gods does. Its just Simon's lyrics are seldom obvious and make you reach for meaning yourself most of the time.
She refers to the fact that they never played what I call "the Bono move": pretending to be involved in social causes and activism. In fact, in the 80s a lot of people used to mock them calling them a "Tory band", mostly because they never pretended to be "men of the people". John and Simon have said it many times: they never had a political agenda and just wanted to have fun and make people around them have fun too.
Hey guys i follow you from the very beginning your music is always fantastic!!! Not only i like duran duran but i like aldo power station , Arcadia and Roxy music of corurse . To summarize the concept to the Max you make me feel mighty Real like the hit of Sylvester. Sleep on Boeing duran duran the greatest band in the world
I've always been a huge Duran Duran fan, but it's not the same without Andy Taylor. We may never know what really happened, but I don't think they treated him fairly.
I am with you. He might not be the easiest person to work with, but the other 4 and the management forgot he was not the ugly duckling among fans. As far as I am concerned, since he was dismissed in 2006 I have never bought a ticket concert for DD again.
DD wrote hundreds of great songs, and find me a weak point on most of earlier production - that would be really hard to do!! "Looking forward" has however its negative sides, because for the 1st time on Duran Duran album i'm not convinced about most songs...
