Jig Thursday - When the Cock Crows it is Day [G]

This was our "Jig Thursday" selection from May 2, 2024. It's a great old jig (and a favorite of TV's Bluth family). There are earlier versions of When the Cock Crows it is Day in O’Farrell’s collection of piping tunes from the early 1800s, the mid 19th century Goodman music manuscript collection, and O’Neill’s 1903 Music of Ireland. All those settings vary wildly from each other. And they are quite different from the way we are playing it, made popular by pipers Séamus Ennis and Willie Clancy.

We started this 'series' on a diff social media platform. We wanted to share a few of our favorite tunes, and record them in a minute (so we could share the whole thing). It's such a small little project. But it's been fun to blast through a few of our very favorite jigs. We're putting the vids up on YT, for folks who want an easier way to search for titles.
