- My house cat made friends with a stray thru the door. He showed up the next day meowing by the window at my cat. So I went outside to see what his deal was. I think we might have a new cat. #straycat #gingercat #straycatrescue #catrescue
50 years of loving cats, and I've found that orange cats (gingers?) are super friendly. I was walking by a house, saw a cat, sleeping on the porch, his orange paws sticking out the posts. I called out 'Hey Dude!', and he jumped up! ran to me! and let me get his 'motor' running as I petted him. He was almost an exact duplicate (with shorter hair) of my P-Nutt, who was arguably, between him and Valentino, my favorites of all time.
Maybe your P-Nutt came back to you, or else sent one of his relatives to check on you.
I love most animals more than I love most people 💕

Only works with cats apparently. I know a guy with orange skin, probably rare short hairs, and it's another story. 😄
The fact he let you pet him is a huge sign of trust. He is likely hungry. Feeding him will increase his trust in you even further, as he'll learn you are there to help him.
He has chosen you. 🐈😻

What a sweet boi. Thank you for taking him in.
@@paulaolson8956 He is recovering from his neutering on our catio. I’m slowly getting him and our house cat familiar with each other. He seems so grateful to be safe and inside and fed and loved.
I'm sitting with his twin, BB (for big boy) in my lap. Their stories are the same. I fed him as a sweet, loveable stray for a year, but he didn't want to stay. Then, he showed up with a nasty, infected wound on the side of his face. He became mine. Wasn't at all happy to be indoors, became depressed. Got him a sweet female as a playmate and installed cat-proof fencing so they could safely play outdoors. He is a wonderful cat!
Women can’t resist a bad boy lol
Where are you from or live ? City and state. I have four cats. Only one that looks like him will disappear for two to four weeks. Then come back home. About 4 years old now. We had him neutered. Indoor and outdoor. We have two cat doors. I live in Chesapeake Virginia. Just wondering where he goes for so long then comes back home.
I just rented a house temporarily here in BC this week while I’m working out of town. There’s 4 stray cats in the yard every morning and night. I bought a bunch of cat food the first night, didn’t even get food for myself. They now eagerly await me after work. I feel sorry for stray animals, it breaks my heart knowing that they don’t have a home to go to 😢
I get it. My husband has had 2 knee surgeries in 2 months and needs another. I was a stay at home mom/homeschooler. We have zero money and I really couldn’t afford this and I don’t have the time but…I just couldn’t leave him out there. I just got a job and I’m homeschooling 2 young boys (1 has ASD) and now I’m saving a cat and working on introductions to my cat. He chose me. So I do what I must. 😢
Your a good person ❤
Take them and give them to friends or keep them.
He's quite thin, so probably hasn't done too well in the food department lately ... it was divine to see how he overcame his natural fear and came to you with his tail up so that you could pet him.
gratitude to a kind person for helping a golden cat, take him into your family and he will give her a sunny tenderness and will care and guard the hearts of people

What a beautiful orange Toby cat 🐈
This looks like it could be a wonderful rescue with years of enjoyment & fun! I have 3 rescues myself and in all cases I took each cat when I rescued them to a place in town where I was able to get the cat fully bathed & washed to ensure no ticks or flees or anything else that could be transferred in to my house. It was a smart choice as you never know what could be in or on their inner skin, afterwards I would take them in to the vet for all their shots and of course their teeth would be checked as well. Feline family members are absolutely wonderful and so loving, I am so grateful to have the cats in my life and I wouldn't want to have it any other way! I wish you all the best and many years of fun times, lots of hugs and kisses with your fur babies!
Those orange kitties are usually males and yes, they are adorable. A big chunkie, battle scarred one showed up at our door and decided to stay. He didn't want to come inside but faithfully guarded our front door until he died a couple years later. Miss you Pumpkin.💋💕💔

Don't think the little fella was always a stray. Someone probably dumped the poor boy, but he has known human companionship before; it's an extremely rare feral that would trust a human that easily, that quickly. Thank you for rescuing the poor lil fella.
He was intact, filthy, flea and mite infested, had worms and was wary. He had made friends through the screen door and window with my cat. We live in a rural area and many neighbors feed strays (there are sooo many around) - I’ve seen this guy around a couple times on my cameras but he was never approachable. The shelter here is full all the time and kills them if they’re there too long. We have neutered him, bathed him, treated fleas and mites, dewormed him and litter trained him. He seemed sad recovering from his neuter inside so I’ve made accommodations for him outdoors where he greets us every time we go to swim or garden. He is a love bug and a great mouse hunter. 😻

I knew my #2 cat for a couple of years as an outside cat who'd come in to eat, then come in to eat and spend the night, but at one point disappeared a few days and came back all mangled from a catfight, rakes "right down to the musculature" according to the vet, and a swollen neck that looked like he had a tangerine implanted under his skin. A billion dollars later, he's in my house with The Cone Of Shame, a Penrose drain, and a pile of stitches, and after a while, wanted out sooooooo badly. Today? He's fine with taking up teepee livin' and enjoying being waited on hand and foot, as are my other 3 (also former strays).
@@joeschmo622 great story! 😻 he came to my screen door and window making friends with our Manx for a couple days before I went out and shot this video. ive flea dipped, bathed, dewormed, neutered and treated ear mites in this big boy. He’s currently living in the catio while he recovers and is coming into the house daily and room swapping with our Manx so they can slowly get to know each other. I was finally able to turn off the a/c this evening so he is in my son’s bunk bed currently snuggling his heart out.
@@Melsaa77 When my #4 showed up as a kitten (still half-blue eyes), I took him to the vet for a full workup, but I had to bathe him myself before I'd bring him inside to roam around, a double-bath (bathe/rinse/bathe/rinse) with flea shampoo. Thought I got everywhere, but in the room where I was keeping him locked up until I was sure he didn't have any F-diseases (FIP/FLV/FPV/etc.), I saw a few of those little beasties still crawling on him. So I gave all 4 Frontline, which is the only stuff that works on all 4 stages (egg/larva/pupa/adult), vs just adults for all the rest. A few days later, all gone.
I don't get how those f'n things could survive a double-bath in flea-shampoo.

He's a young cat. There is nothing about his physical condition to suggest he is a stray. although he may be. Having worked for decades in animal rescue. Dealing with thousands of cats, I know that many people immediately assume a strange cat (to them) is stray. This can lead to conflicts between neighbours who accuse each other of stealing "their" cat. At the very least he should be neutered, for his own benefit, and that of other cats in his neighbourhood.
@@grantdixon230 he has been lurking and fighting and living with a colony of strays in the ally behind my house for at least about a year. He has been weary of humans before this. I sat on a bench and he came over, got on my lap, showed me his belly. When I tried to leave he followed me. I was smitten. I could not leave him there. I rode home then came back with my car, food, and a carrier. I enticed him to the car with food. I kept him in the garage for 2 nights (we have a cat already). Every time I went out to the garage he was laying against the door waiting for me. Always cute and affectionate. I was heartbroken that I had to take him to SPCA. He had no chip. They guessed he was about 1.5 years old. He got adopted after about 3 weeks. I REALLY wanted to keep him but our cat would not like it. I ride the trail often and I will always think about him when I pass that spot.
What's happening with the other cats from your neighbor's shed?
@@mattfoley6082 I have a neighbor across the street (and many others around) that feed the strays and have little outdoor set ups for them. We live in a very rural area and there is a stray problem here. I can’t save them all but this boi was special and chose us. I asked my neighbor about him and she was just happy I could help one guy and stop him from making more sick kittens. I have vacant houses on both sides of me and the one they are flipping behind us was previously vacant and run down with a shed that was falling down in an alley.
