I’m choosing to become a luxury minimalist. I am moving from over 300 items of clothes to a very well curated 100 (or 50 per season). Where I live we only have hot or cold weather. After I drop by 2/3 maybe I’ll go lower. But each item has to be the absolute best quality.
Good for you. I rented a small condo where literally I had 10 outfits then I moved into my home and realized I had like 50 garbage bags of clothes I was depressed and over whelmed. I did donate a lot but I still have lots left. It’s unbelievable how much one can collect over the years.
i currently only have 14pieces of clothing (excluding underwear & pyjamas)! but I just wanted to share that this did not happen overnight! i was also a hoarder and shopaholic and my journey to minimalism started around 2 or 3 years ago.. i did two rounds of konmari method and on/decluttering since 2020 until the end of 2022 i still had like 60-70pieces of clothing.. decluttered at least 200 hangers 😅 the final turning point was i got pregnant recently and also had to do a home renovation, so it gave me the opportunity to downsize everything to just these 14pieces, since I knew that i wont be able to wear the pre-pregnancy skinny clothes for at least 2years (or maybe forever?), i donated all... good luck to everyone who is trying to minimise their stuff and trust the process, give urself time!
Usually people don’t count underwear but I’m glad you don’t count pajamas! I could get behind that. I have like 10 sets of pajamas that I use over and over and wouldn’t survive most of”declutters rules.
Good video. I have been on what I guess I would call an "intentionalist" journey the last 2 years. I won't ever be a minimalist, I like things and variety too much lol, but I want to be intentional about the clothes, books, craft supplies I keep or things I bring into my house to keep clutter down. My closet has been the most effected since I have also been transitioning from college to work clothes & I am so pleased with the result. Still on a journey but have reached the "maintenance" stage which makes me so happy!
Oh I so relate to intentionalism! Intentional is my word of the year and at the front of my mind with every single decision I make. I love that you are having a similar positive experience! I agree that minimalism isn’t for everyone because some people just enjoy having thjngs way more than I do lol. Congrats on making it to the maintenance stage, that’s amazing!!
I’m decluttering my wardrobe in steps. One week I think I want to keep certain pieces but when I look again the following week I’m ready to let them go. As I sit here watching your video I can think of several things I can declutter. I also gained weight last year due to a medication I was taking. I came off of it after about a year but it left me around 30 lbs. heavier. I’m currently trying to lose the weight so have decided to hold on to some favourite clothing as well. It may take me a while but I am determined to lose the weight or at least get down to a healthy and more sustainable weight. Thank you for sharing.🥰
Congrats to the people watching and have solved their cutler problems. This has got me thinking as I am to old to handle all this stuff anymore. I am going to watch videos and read about how to get rid of STUFF
Wow this video is so me the way your describing how tons of clothes make u feel is exactly what I have felt for years and I’ve been decluttering my clothes for the past few weeks and I’m still doing it it’s so hard but I’ll make it through especially after running into your video which was heaven sent right now so thank you so much❤️
I used to own more than 100 pairs of sunglasses! Buying them was an obsession. I was a depressed teenager at the time seeking fulfillment in the wrong places. My family and I got into thousands of pounds of debt and struggled to finish them off. Finally, after so many years, we are no longer in debt and live a much simpler life having tackled our demons by finding faith in God. I now see what is important in life and it does not come with a swipe of a credit card, hence I have chosen the path to minimalism. Less is more, as they say. God bless. 🙏🏻
I just started following you a few days ago on your minimal journey. I have binged watched all your videos. Way to go! I have been on my minimal journey for over 7 years now. I still love to try and declutter my items. I love my capsule wardrobe. I would love a house tour and kitchen inventory. These are my favorite types of videos.
Aw thank you so much for the love & support! It seriously means the world to me. ☺️ 7 years, that’s amazing!! Seriously, the capsule wardrobe is a game changer. I’m never going back lol. I just moved last week (and downsized) and I’m still getting settled but I’ll do a house tour in the next few weeks! The kitchen inventory is a great idea! I’ll add it to my list 🤗
It sounds like you made a smart choice to store items in a different size! I also love that you started with research and went in with an understanding of your needs. Good work! You look super cute in these outfits and the color palette looks great on you :)
I truly admire people who can cut their clothing firm this much. I always regret getting rid of certain items but I’m Slowly overcoming it. Growing up with limited media is the cause of a lot of my over- owning lol I just made up that term hopefully it makes sense.
First off, CONGRATULATIONS on getting your health in a better place, and giving your body love and grace while transitioning back to your set point. I’m 5mos post partum with my 4th and it’s a daily struggle to not rush this transitional seasons. Second, I think your beautiful in the outfits you showed off, so celebrate the body shape and size you have at present. One day you’ll look back and cherish how you looked. Third, that’s a LOT of clothes got rid of!! I took 8 full bags of clothing this past weekend to donate and I couldn’t believe how much I had as filler. I also gravitate towards softer, neutral colors and don’t currently have any prints aside from one bag. That was my overabundance, purses!! All thrifted, but all designer and easy to buy while pregnant (other than jewelry) because nothing else would fit. It was a hard week sitting with the uncomfortable feeling that I didn’t need 30+ bags but I couldn’t let them go. It’s an emotional process for sure. I also appreciate how you brought everything together to make sure it all worked. I am going to go through my “saved” clothing and take a hard look at if the clothes I hope to get back into will really serve me or if they are just part of my fantasy self I can’t seem to shake. Thanks for sharing and keep up the self growth.
I've watched so many videos like this as I started decluttering my own overflowing closet and this one spoke to me the most. I've been so intimidated by tackling my own closet but when I finally started I can feel the momentum and see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's inspiring to see your closet take shape here and how it positively impacted your mood and mental health. And I really like your earthy casual style which is similar to my own. Thanks for the inspiration and congrats on making such a big change.
When watching another decluttering video of yours, I knew when you said 'chronic'....that you had Lyme. (Well, and all the supplements was another clue!) I'm also battling Lyme and funny how I've been on a minimizing journey along as well. That pile of bags after your closet declutter here was SO fulfilling to see! I pray you feel well and ...btw...you look amazing!
Yes to a video diving into your capsule wardrobe and how you fine tuned it! I've paired down my wardrobe a lot (with the help of the Acloset app), but I wouldn't say it's really a capsule wardrobe and I'm nervous to make the leap. It's helpful to see the process of using what you already have!
I have a capsule wardrobe. I have been a minimalist for about three years. I love it snd truly believe it works to de stress you. You’ll be fine with what you have!
Hi Becki! I have been going through the same exact process! I even started a blog to record and share my path into minimalism and trying to be more intentional with my money and my life, in general. I can totally relate to everything you shared! Keep going and keep sharing!
It’s nice to meet you! What’s your blog? I would love to check it out! Would also love to connect over on Instagram if you are on there. Happy to be on this journey with you! ☺️💚
I need to do this as I have three small wardrobes bursting with stuff. I might box some stuff up and look back later to see if I want to wear anything from the box. If not I will donate it. Because I find it hard to get rid of things straight from my wardrobe. But if I separate myself from them for a while then then it's easier. My main fear is that I will make room then fill it again coz I tend to hoard stuff 😬. Anyway I'm off to have a look right now to see what I can put away. Thanks for the inspiration! 😊
Great video. I absolutely agree on keeping a small collection of beautiful clothes that do not fit right now. I have mine in the nice box and check it and air out twice a year.
I have a difficult time getting rid of shoes. They always come back in style. Plus I’ve paid a lot of money for them. I have ankle boots from 1998 that I still wear.
That’s great! If you don’t want to declutter don’t do it, just don’t buy more clothes and use what you currently have! That’s a great way to enjoy your clothes and wear them impact positivity to the environment. We only have 2 feet we don’t need as much as 5-10 pairs of shoes including seasonal shoes.
Everything next to my skin is new and I’m willing to save on everything else second hand. My only limits are my actual need, closet size and seasonal budget.
Thank you so much for sharing your story! I so relate to everything you said! I too have been a shopping addict! You are very inspiring and so refreshing to hear honesty! Thank you ❤😊And yes! It would be wonderful to see a video on how you put your clothes together into outfits 🙌🙌🙌
I recently took everything out of my closet or 80% anyway. I realized I weeks worth of the same type of clothing item. So it totally changed what I was going to spend money on. I only needed one or two pairs of specific shoes and a couple specific color accessories to complete things. Nothing else is getting added unless it’s replacing something that really needs to be replaced.
Thank you so much! Love that you are working on minimizing too. 🤗 I swear, the less I have the more options I feel like I have to wear. It makes no sense but I really feel like having less options and only things that you absolutely love, really makes a huge difference!
Congratulations. The help to your mental health is immeasurable. I’d LOVE to see a video of you trying on your capsule wardrobe. Best wishes, Lorraine. Australia 🙋♀️
Not sure why your video showed up in my feed, but I clicked on it because it sounded familiar. In some respects, I've already been there done that. I'd ended up with massively too many clothes for a different reason than you - I really got into treasure hunting thrift stores. I ended up with some good quality practical stuff, but also an awful lot of "interesting" or "it's not my style but maybe I'll try it" stuff. I'm also older than you so I've had more time to accumulate. This worked because my weight was the same for decades. Then I put on some weight due to lifestyle change plus age and then covid. I finally collected some larger clothes and proceeded to collect too many in a relatively short time. Being a packrat, I did something close to what you did with your smaller clothes, going through and donating what I hadn't actually worn much (or at all) when it fit and packing away the stuff I liked or in my case was ambivalent about. Then I got a VR headset and started using vr fitness programs like Holofit and BodyCombat and focusing on eating healthy and gradually got back to my usual weight. I was so glad I had my containers of stored clothing to shop from! And yes, I filled in here and there like you did. Great video. You explained the process very nicely without a lot of fluff. While I have no desire to be as minimal as you aspire to, the process you went through to declutter your wardrobe really works. I can attest to that. 😀
Aw thank you for sharing your journey! I’m so glad to hear that this process worked for you and that it was worth it to hold onto the smaller clothes! I go back and forth about just getting rid of them but this helps me to see I made the right choice. It will be far easier to just add a few items in as I lose weight as opposed to buying a whole new wardrobe! 🤗 and thank you for your kind words and positive feedback - I also don’t like watching videos with a lot of fluff lol
Update: I have downloaded an app called 'Acloset' in which you take photos of your clothes and then it puts together outfit ideas with your clothes for those that struggle 🙂 As of right now i have all of the points you said at the beginning. I buy more storage and hangers to make my clothes fit (I even have little tower piles of clothing on the floor now too). Everyday i wear exercise clothing and feel bleh. I gained 18kg and keep saying i will lose weight and fit my 'smaller' clothing (which i still want to do but i know it would never happen overnight). I've had to buy bigger and baggier clothing that actually fit me, so i have clothing from my smallest size, as well as - 5kg up, 10kg up and at my heaviest of 18kg up 😅 Honestly need to downsize and start living in a better mindset, also wish someone was near Melbourne to join me in exercise to stay motivated
I really liked this Video! I share the Joy that it gives a person to Clear out the Clutter & unused or unflattering clothes & start fresh! I recently lost a significant amount of weight due to an illness! I dropped 5 sizes pretty rapidly! So I needed to buy all new things! I cleared out 40-50 NICE Items of Clothing & a few Handbags I hadn't been using! I took them to a Repeat Boutique to sell & donated those things she couldn't use! Then I cleared out everything that I had in the Storage Walk-in Closet in the Guest Room (I rotate clothes between storage & every day usage by Seasons) some items I'd had in the Storage Closet for 10+ yrs & hadn't worn for more than 3-5yrs! (they just hung there thru all 4 Seasons!) EVERYTHING went! Including Dress Coats, which now Swamped Me! Then I accessed what I had just bought from Talbots & Ann Taylor in smaller sizes than usual & added 4 New Blazer/Jackets & 2 Silk Blouses (LilySilk) 3 Cashmere & 2 Cotton Sweaters, 4 pair of Pants 2Blk 2Navy, 3 pair Stretch Boot Cut Jeans 1Blk, 1Wht & 1Denium! I also bought 2 Cool Weather Sports Tops with Hoodie Jackets, 3 Pima Tee Shirts & 3pair of Stretch Crops (all for summer) Only 2 New pr of shoes came in, one for walking & one nice pair of flats in pink to go with one of my dress jackets! I'm so Pleased to be able to have the chance to start over with a better & more put together wardrobe than I might have had a couple of years ago! I have a Rule: One piece out for every piece you bring in! THAT IS THE BEST RULE FOR ME! (BTW: I spent less than $2000 on the Entire Wardrobe & have made over $500 so far from the Repeat Boutique)
So happy for you! Looks amazing. I’m trying to do the 33 item wardrobe…need to psych myself up!! How many items do you think you have now I’m so curious 🧐
I also retired years ago; I loved clothes when younger, but never like my mom, g'ma, sister!🧘♀️ I only wear Adidas tights, pants, sneakers, winter I have a few sweaters. Live in northern California, so great sunny weather🌴😎. No need to ever dress up-- gatherings or 49er football games==🏈__still Adidas😅.
You're cute! Fellow autoimmune here. I have my bins, too, but I recently went ketovore and accidentally got pregnant after infertility, sooooo who knows when I'll EVER fit in that stuff again, lol!
I got rid of lots of clothes and it feels good. I would like to do a capsule wardrobe. After buying so many clothes don’t know if I will succeed. I don’t buy new clothes. I buy estate sale clothes to fill in the hole. Great video.
I’d like to see the capsule wardrobe. I can’t imagine that. When I go away for a weekend it’s hard for me to be able to have a wardrobe for the weekend that coordinates without taking a pair of shoes for each day etc. etc.
I have rid much of my wardrobe, clothes & shoes with so many physical moves. At times I do regret or rather miss certain items. So I think you should avoid getting too minimal too quickly. Enjoy getting more use of what you have perhaps another year b4 purging again, or try the one out one in method. Best wishes.
What were the guided meditations you were doing? they sound very powerful and I would be interested to give them a try to help focus. I am also trying to reduce to help focus my days and make my life easier. Congratulations!
I was actually going to this weekly in person healing group for 2 hours where we explored our spiritual path through guided shamanic journeys, sound healing, art process, and sharing. We did all kinds of things from exploring spirit animals & ancestors, to breath work, healing work, earth elements, writing process, and oracle cards. It was WILD. I had so many clear visions on our guided “journeys”. That’s where I saw not only that I needed to purge everything in my life but that I had to start a RUclips channel! Kind of crazy sounding but I’d be happy to talk about it more in a video if people are interested 🤗
Your coloring looks like neutrals would work great on you. My daughter is an auburn (hair color) redhead. She simplified her wardrobe once she was a redhead. Thats been about seven years now. I think shes a soft natural. Same height as me. My coloring is different from your and hers. I am a summer coloring, or so it seems. I can actually wear every season. Thats why i can never truly get rid of very much. I live in KY. The weather can change three times in the same day! Its hard to plan out capsules because the weather changes every day as well as every three months (spring, summer, fall and winter) I am 53 and 5'2". Im either a romantic build or soft natural im more comfortable in soft natural. My hair is a mix of tones, ashy AND golden both. Some champagne blonde, some light brown and some medium brown. This is natural hair, undyed. My eyes are also mixed. In no sunlight, they can appear dark blue or dark green or charcoal. In full sunlight, they are a lighter and bright 🔵 blue. My skin has pink undertones. My forehead and chin are light beige, my Rosacea -prone cheeks are pink and i tan easily in warm weather. I get golden tan. My lips are a dusty pink. Thats my coloring. Anybody think they know which season i sound like? Computer DIY analyses keep giving me Cool Summer or Soft Summer.
I don't know the many reasons why I have tones of clothes, shoes, and accessories. Nonetheless, I will never be a minimalist person. I'm 54 so too many years of "clutter" which I love. Could never live with such few things and only neutrals, I adore colors. So, I'm going step by step, to minimize anxiety. for sure, I'm going to a place of much less consumption, and a simpler daily life, but congrats on your enormous courage. Go girl, you're un inspiration.
Haha well I don’t think extreme minimalism is for everyone but there’s always room for intentionalism especially around consumption. And totally, neutrals are not for everyone! I only made my wardrobe that way because I’m naturally more drawn to those colors but I’ve seen some pretty awesome capsule wardrobes with lots of color. Thanks so much for your kind words and support! Let me know how it goes with simplifying & minimizing your anxiety 💚💚
Great video - Thank you, I keep decluttering my wardrobe, but buy clothes out of boredom. I tend to have clothes for ‘best’, and save my favorite clothes so they don’t get worn out. I also suffer from motivation issues. I will have another round of removing clothes I don’t really like, so I can only wear my favorite clothes. Would love further wardrobe videos and curious about how many shoes you have now if you started out with 80 pairs
I’m choosing to become a luxury minimalist. I am moving from over 300 items of clothes to a very well curated 100 (or 50 per season). Where I live we only have hot or cold weather. After I drop by 2/3 maybe I’ll go lower. But each item has to be the absolute best quality.

Awesome I'm 64 and I am so glad to know Young people are thinking the same 🙏🏽
It was SO hard to get rid of all I had but now I don't miss any of it and I feel so free!
Inspiring video, especially the shot of all the filled bags.
Yes, a capsule try-on would be great !
Very motivating video! I already have a "one in one out" rule, but this inspires me to go even further and get rid of what I don't wear/need!

Im so glad you addressed weight fluctuations. I have lupus. My weight can change 20-30lbs a year.
Love this thank you 🌟 Just found your channel and I am looking forward to watching your other videos 😊

Hi, it would be great if you would make a video showing your capsule wardrobe--what you decided to keep.
Great video. I absolutely agree on keeping a small collection of beautiful clothes that do not fit right now. I have mine in the nice box and check it and air out twice a year.

Good for you!! Yes please would love to see your outfits!
Awesome! I’ll definitely share a wardrobe tour soon 🤗
Yes please! Do the expanded vid!!! I desperately need it!!!
Great work! Yes, would enjoy the capsule wardrobe video. ☺️
Haha i liked even before I watched the video! Hahaha I'm that positive I'm going to love it. Gosh such a struggle to give away my clothes 😣😣😣!
Thank you! I’m so stressed about the amount of clothes I have. Ready to start my process!🙏🏽
Congratulations. The help to your mental health is immeasurable.
I’d LOVE to see a video of you trying on your capsule wardrobe. Best wishes, Lorraine. Australia 🙋♀️
Thank you Lorraine! I so appreciate you being here. 💚 I will definitely share a capsule wardrobe try on in the next few weeks 🤗

and thank you for your kind words and positive feedback - I also don’t like watching videos with a lot of fluff lol
Yes! Closet tour!
Update: I have downloaded an app called 'Acloset' in which you take photos of your clothes and then it puts together outfit ideas with your clothes for those that struggle 🙂
As of right now i have all of the points you said at the beginning.
I've had to buy bigger and baggier clothing that actually fit me, so i have clothing from my smallest size, as well as - 5kg up, 10kg up and at my heaviest of 18kg up 😅
Honestly need to downsize and start living in a better mindset, also wish someone was near Melbourne to join me in exercise to stay motivated
Great video I would love to see more wardrobe content
Thank you! I will definitely share more soon! I’m already wanting to reduce the number of clothes I have, decluttering is addicting 😂
Great video! I’m in the process of minimizing my wardrobe and this was very helpful. I subscribed! ☺️
I love this! I am watching because I really want to do this.
Loved your decluttered closet! Wonderful thoughtful video!
It looks awesome, I'm not a shopaholic, but could pair down a bit as well. Probably more than I think... :)
Let me know if you give it a try! It honestly feels so good to have a small wardrobe. I’m already trying to downsize 😂
Yessss i need to pack away the clothes that don’t fit!!! Thanks for this idea. I have anorexia-binge eating disorder. So this is a great idea❤
I’d love to see everything you have & your outfits for inspiration. Just found your channel & I love it. ❤
Thanks I really appreciate your video inspirational indeed
Love your videos!!!! Can’t wait to see what else you do!!!!!
Aw you are so sweet, thank you so much! I have so many fun videos planned! 🤗
Yes please to a Capsule Wardrobe video 😊
Very inspirational! TFS your method! 💗🙏🌺
I'm down with downsize and decluttering, but 10 items? I couldn't live with just that.
This is so inspiring and encouraging! Thank you so much for sharing your story! 🤗
Very Inspiring I must say... It's good to start young.
I got rid of most of my clothes after retiring. I live in shorts/jeans, tees, and down jackets. 😊 great life style.
Agree with you I did go with quartz for my kitchen but a QUIET pattern, I feel like the ones with heavy veining look super fake.
What an inspiration you are!
Great video! ❤
This has definitely helped me. Thanks :)
I got rid of lots of clothes and it feels good. I would like to do a capsule wardrobe. After buying so many clothes don’t know if I will succeed. I don’t buy new clothes. I buy estate sale clothes to fill in the hole. Great video.
So sorry about the Lyme disease, that one is horrible, you are great at this
What is the brand + style of jeans you are wearing at 6:51 ? Love the video btw! Thanks for the inspiration.
I’d like to see the capsule wardrobe. I can’t imagine that. When I go away for a weekend it’s hard for me to be able to have a wardrobe for the weekend that coordinates without taking a pair of shoes for each day etc. etc.
Love your style so much!
Great video and ideas!!
I did this but I need to do it again soon😥
You inspire me! Loved this video ❤
Aw you are seriously so sweet! Thank you so much for watching ☺️💚
Great motivation!
Aw yay, I’m so glad!! 💚
Do it! Happy for you👍
Yes would love to see more as I subscribed to your channel. Tks ✝️✝️🙏🙏👍👍😁😁
Thank you for the inspiring vid
Aw you are so welcome! Thank YOU for watching ☺️💚
I am so inspired by this!!!! 🥰👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Umm absolutely yes to an outfit try on!!
There is no way I could live with that beige wardrobe!
I love my clothes, but need to de clutter and can’t!
Luv the tips
Love your videos ;-)
Your coloring looks like neutrals would work great on you.
My daughter is an auburn (hair color) redhead. She simplified her wardrobe once she was a redhead. Thats been about seven years now. I think shes a soft natural. Same height as me.
My coloring is different from your and hers. I am a summer coloring, or so it seems. I can actually wear every season. Thats why i can never truly get rid of very much. I live in KY. The weather can change three times in the same day! Its hard to plan out capsules because the weather changes every day as well as every three months (spring, summer, fall and winter)
I am 53 and 5'2".
Great video! You have a new subscriber
Will you please make an update video?
Totally unrelated 😅 BUT you remind me of Victoria from “How I met your mother”
I’ve never heard that before! But thank you, I think? 🤔😂
I just went from probably 1000 items to 60 for the whole of 2024. I have stored the rest. I already feel lighter
Hi great Video…maybe you could make one for Kids clothes 😅…
Great video - Thank you, I keep decluttering my wardrobe, but buy clothes out of boredom. I tend to have clothes for ‘best’, and save my favorite clothes so they don’t get worn out. I also suffer from motivation issues. I will have another round of removing clothes I don’t really like, so I can only wear my favorite clothes. Would love further wardrobe videos and curious about how many shoes you have now if you started out with 80 pairs
I can't be the only one who has been MORE stressed out after getting rid of almost all of their clothes, am I?
That would definitely stress me out more, thanks for saying so ❤

Hi hope your well forgive me but we're are your posh clothes if you go to weddings or special parties ❤
Great question! I got rid of them all except 1 dress that I just wore for a photoshoot. I now rent clothes for special occasions 😊
@Conscious Flow Living Bless you thanks for your kind answers
That makes perfect sense ❤️
I need big help to do this!
I am watching your video i declutter now before 40th years old
