I'm torn between going straight from pearlite/vermiculite to NFT vs using an aeroponic propagator as an intermediate step. I didn't expect to see that long of a root coming out of the pearlite and now I'm having an existential hydroponic crisis.

I found heat mat confuse the seeds because you put heat underneath and the seed doesn't know to go up or down. And I have way more success between 65-70f in a paper towel in a zip lock bag with a nice air pocket around the seeds.
Water is all that is needed for germination. The seed itself has all it needs to get started. Nutrients after the first leaves appear, but won't hurt if nutrients are from the start. Thanks
What do you use to make the square holes in the foam? Love your site and videos and your Dutch Bucket System. Was shipped out so quickly. Wish you had smaller, more affordable greenhouse kits for old people on social security.

hey so when you are growing the basil when it sprouts do you need to take off the lid when it is still small ?
Yes, it will keep it from becoming too hot and humid.

Square are pre-made at the factory. you can use a hole saw for any round size. thanks
