Only way you "support" a team like that is picking an OP ship like Nakhimov - problem is you never know when matchmaking is gonna put you in a team like that, so the ship you pick is always irrelevant.
It also kind of disprove your comment, If that Shima player decided to work the caps instead of deciding to go after the carrier, it would probably been another loss. I don't think the loss is normally bad skills, but as bad decisions.
I feel you, just had six defeats in a row followed by five with two of my favorite ships. When you have the feeling whatever you do and whatever you achieve is completely irrelevant because your team either falls apart in the first minutes or is throwing it in the end is just so devastating.
Flambass, despite the awful teammates (I'm glad it's a universal thing and not just me...) I'm glad you're having fun doing something new! These support CV's are a welcome surprise. I love the idea of being dedicated support as a CV. They can be refined for sure but it's a good start.
I'm not excactly what you would call a CV fanboi, I'm rather the opposite (only complaint is spotting mechanics, tho. Other than that, they're fine imo)... Have to give you props for your gameplay here, Flambino. Your situational awareness is impeccable. ggwp!
Exactly like u, if i try to help team (put AA on DD, Scout, Spot...) i ended with a loose. If i just play for me and try to kill ships, it works better. Some elements that i can see on this game : u don't try to eco some planes. And u ended with not enough torps. On the first 2 strikes, u go with full squadron. Just shoot for free and u release 2 planes that can be save for a next attack. Other thing i saw it's u try to do another strike with 4 planes or less... just save them ... with AA on high tier, planes don't stand very long with a little group. And yes the rocket delay make me loose my nerves ...
As a dd main, I very much appreciate if the cv in my team drops fighters to support me, because this usually means the opposing cv does not go directly after me. That's mostly what I'm asking to get from a cv, I can then do all the spotting, capping and dd and sub hunting myself. If I do not get any aa support on the other hand and if the opposing cv player has more than half of a brain, I will have a very rough time and most likely cannot do my job. Lost a lot of matches because my cv just went on ship hunting doing her own thing in general totally ignoring any pleas for support (and of course ranting in chat about his team mates being so dumb to get killed by the opposing cv).
@@JimBlock999 I never put AA over a DD if he is not detected because it's a big red circle that said : warning !!! something is exactly here. I defend my DD if they want and put smoke if needed. At opposite side from a CV, i've lost my carrier because my mates doesn't care to defend it. So if i defend my mates, i let enemy come near me and kill me. At CV u need to have in mind all the map and not only one area. Captain of other ships forget this a lot.
@@zeb5140 Firstly, if the dd is already detected, it is too late to deploy fighters, because they have an arrival time. Secondly, if the dd is capping, the other team knows anyway there is a dd in the cap, and any reasonable cv will still most likely stay out of the fighters' range. Also fighters may not be exactly on top of a dd, but may either distract the enemy or give the dd - or any other surface ship - a spot where they have aa support when needed. Also I'd rather have aa support when opposing planes are nearby than none. Maybe just think about dropping fighters when any player asks you to do so and your squadron is already nearby. Endangering your cv is a different issue. Keep in mind you do not need to move near the opponents to be effective, so it is mostly your job (!) to move into a safe position, not the job of your team to defend you when you put yourself unnecessarily in danger. There is no issue at all using the autopilot to move your cv while flying your planes. Also you as a cv player are the best person to keep an eye on the map, just because most of the time your ship is in no danger and your planes are on the way to a spot. If I am in a gun fight with another dd or constantly dodging incoming planes, I am very focussed and do not have much time to check if my cv moved into a position where an opponent dd may attack her. This having said, it is not a rare incident that I move half across the map in a dd to help my cv defending against an opposing dd, even if he did not support me the entire match and put himself into a bad position, oblivious to several of my warnings to move and get into a safer position. It is a team game after all, and sometimes you have to compensate.

So i know how to play DD, CC, BB & CV. I was CV main player. Not now. I prefer CC netherland, or commonwealth / french DD. And i try to grind german BB. i didn't say other ships need to be aware where is the CV but it's very often to me that nobody litteraly move to help me. But if i forgot one fighter, i can have shittalk for a long time. I put fighters for cap but not every time. Depends if planes are coming or not.
Like any competitive sport/games, you've got to have that X factor. And that X factor is usually you on your team in WoWs, so if you aren't carrying... On a side note, did you see how long it took 4 allied ships to sink 1 sub around 5 minute mark at G2? I saw the action on the minimap and couldn't look away. There was a DD somewhere around too.
The best way Flambass can support his team is to personally kill at least three quarters of the enemy team … and you don’t do that either spotting and laying smoke screens.
This is why i only play this game once in a while. Its best in small dosages. Too many other amazing games to miss out just to be frustrated with this one.
How did you get way more free XP than XP? I've never seen that before and I've been playing this game since 2018. And look what it took to get your win after 11 defeats in a row. You went for damage and it worked. I've been trying to do more of that in Yorktown but I'm just getting started doing it. Before I was just playing it like a regular CV.
I like how your entire non-team left you for dead against that Shima. Just one of them helping would have ended things much sooner, allowing you to support them, not that they proved deserving of it.
@@hisnameis28 Not being Flambass, but in my experience: Get as many containers as possible, especially the Supercontainers and Christmas Containers, play on the Play Testing Server (PTS), and also get the Veteran Containers for Community Tokens in the Armory (for the Tokens, watch Twitch and play on the PTS). Further you can buy Premium Time with Doubloons, which you can get e.g. by playing in Ranked or from the above mentioned containers. Every now and then you also have the opportunity to get some Premium Time for other currencies, like Free XP, so always keep some amount of ingame currencies in stock (usually I have at least one million free XP available for short timed special offers).
I am convinced one team has a hidden advantage over the other. Did you ever shoot at a ship and no matter what you did only 1 or 2 shells out of 12 would hit? Then they shoot at you and 15 out of 9 shells citadel you from the front of your battleship with their 150 mm guns.
Odd concept, but has anyone ever though of using the carrier smoke on an enemy that is helping spot targets? If your teammates are taking fire from out of line of sight you use the carrier smoke to drop on their spotter rendering them unable to spot instead of dropping it on your teammates who would naturally become undetected due to the lack of line of sight. I only ask because I've never seen it done.
I used to try and play the support CV role years ago, I'm not a great player by any means, but spotting and defending vs air attacks usually meant my team just lost. And the experience reward just wasn't there.
But that was in RTS i bet - you can't do that with current "support CVs" cuz you can't manually direct fighters, and the enemy CV can just despawn his planes, and not lose any even if he ends up in their radius.
When I played cvs a lot some time ago, I've made a differrent experience. In the first minutes of a match spotting the opposing dds and letting your team take them out, or just force the dds to smoke up and that way loosing a charge and also the opportunity to spot themselves, was often a big advantage. Of course you need a team willing to shoot enemy dds, which sometimes can be quite frustrating.
I'm sure the smoke screens are to protect your own aircraft carrier. Your allies are too rarely worth supporting. At least the fighters are pretty efficient. I've noticed the same thing when playing Essex, it's more profitable 90% of the time to farm damage than to waste time protecting your suicidal allies...
Of those planes from the Essex none saw WW II combat...only the F8F Bearcat (rocket attack plane from Essex) was ever built in numbers and saw combat (Korea). The torp plane, TB2D-1 Skypirate, and bomb plane, BTD-1 Destroyer, were both Douglas designs, with gull wings similar to the F4U Corsair. The Destroyer was barely in service by war's end (28 units delivered), never saw combat, and was cancelled. The Skypirate only had two prototypes built by war's end and was cancelled. But what cracks me up is what WG does with the planes. Note the designations. The game uses TB2D-1 Skypirate, a torp plane by definition (TB = torpedo bomber) as a dedicated aerial bomber, and the BTD-1 Destroyer, which was primarily a bomber (BT = bomb, torpedo) as a dedicated torp plane. Also, WG in its infinite wisdom uses the Skyraider on Yorktown at T8 when it was a later aircraft than the Destroyer, and uses it in the torp role only when it would also have replaced the SB2C Helldiver as a bomber. But as we know, WG never lets facts or real history stand in the way of what they want the game to look like. In fact, the BTD-1 Destroyer was originally designated SB2D-1 (SB = scout bomber) and was redesignated BTD-1 when the requirement changed and torpedo carrying became an additional mission for the type. You can help your team by killing 5 ships, or support them and hope they kill the ships...Is my experience that hoping for the team to do anything never works out. ;) At least its a new way to play, something different..
a support class by definition needs someone to support. play a division with someone in a Schlieffen or Colbert and with three and a half functioning brain cells.
You're doing it wrong. Use Essex as a real damage dealer than can also smoke up a cruiser or smth. That's it. Look at how much damage these torpedo bombers do, almost 20k a drop. Forget support. Deal damage, smoke up a cruiser then deal damage again
yeppers and with teams that give you 11 losses and 1 win ( on a almost constant basis ) your WR goes to shit and most all people will think you are a lousy player !

a team that cant scout snd kill dd is a dead team everyone wants to kill bb becase its easy damage they leave the enemies dd to win the match every plane a carrier player has should be used to scout and attack dd until they r dead... BUT u know "damage" matters more to these selfish players so carriers attcak the weakest azz class in game BB.... excuse like these r torp plabes and this guy or that giy should get dd alway prevail those r my bombers so i had to attck bb... u see carriers player can do zero damage but if they keep plabes over dd their team wins BUT again " damage" that all they care about BBs get the bb i want the bb the absolute weakest class i game.. getting 50% damage on a dd is worth 2 dead bb.. the dude in the carrier in last place on the team for xp but who kept his planes over dd is worth far more thaan the carrier who attacked bb and was in first place on his team.. cause u know "damage"

i remember back in Season 2 or 3 of Ranked, i was 2 victories from ranking out, but than lost 11 in a row and ended the season in rank 5 😂😅

this is why i've quit tbh. and the lack of premium time for me A F2P player. and no blues or greens given away as much as they use to be

a team that cant scout snd kill dd is a dead team everyone wants to kill bb becase its easy damage they leave the enemies dd to win the match every plane a carrier player has should be used to scout and attack dd until they r dead... BUT u know "damage" matters more to these selfish players so carriers attcak the weakest azz class in game BB.... excuse like these r torp plabes and this guy or that giy should get dd alway prevail those r my bombers so i had to attck bb... u see carriers player can do zero damage but if they keep plabes over dd their team wins BUT again " damage" that all they care about BBs get the bb i want the bb the absolute weakest class i game.. getting 50% damage on a dd is worth 2 dead bb.. the dude in the carrier in last place on the team for xp but who kept his planes over dd is worth far more thaan the carrier who attacked bb and was in first place on his team.. cause u know "damage"
