Of the shows listed at 1:25, I'm most hopeful for TOH. I'm still hopeful for Harley Quinn on HBO Max (especially since Kenny mentions Poison Ivy at 11:47), "Camp Cretaceous" on Netflix (another good show about youth dealing w/trauma), & "Prehistoric Planet" on AppleTV+ (partly to go w/JWCC, partly b/c of Montana having grown up on animal/nature docs, & partly b/c it's the best dino/paleo media ever). BTW, the cute maid outfit at 2:35 & Catra/Perfuma's talk at 21:29 are my favorite parts of this episode.

Perfuma's passive-aggressiveness towards Catra is hilarious.
The theme of this episode is weakness. It starts with the humorous 'what's each princesses' weakness', then Prime calling their ideals weakness, Adora starting to lose She-Ra due to feeling weak back in the place that traumatized her, then Netossa calling Spinny 'my weakness', and then Perfuma telling Catra that keeping your heart open doesn't make you weak.

I absolutely love when Perfuma tells Catra "It's hard, keeping your heart open. It makes you vulnerable, but it doesn't make you weak. And I have to believe it's worth it." Not only is it a beautiful quote on its own, it's also everything Catra needed to hear at the moment. The Horde teaches their cadets that any kind of vulnerability is a weakness and that was reinforced to Catra throughout the show, because pretty much every time she tried to show vulnerability, she got hurt. Catra is finally in a position where showing vulnerability won't get her hurt, but she also needs to open up to people in order to grow and change as a person, and Perfuma's advice to do that definitely stuck with her.
Adora walking in a second after is just a cherry on top.
Agreed. This, along with lifting the ship and talking down chipped Scorpia, was Perfuma's greatest moment.

I love Horde Prime as a villain so much!
“You’re my weakness...” No matter how many times I rewatch that scene I always cry. This is such a sad yet romantic moment. Netossa, who’s one of the toughest characters in the whole series, shows how much fighting her wife affects her. She can't live without Spinerella. This hits even harder after her whole speech about weaknesses.
On a separate note, Perfuma definitely wins this episode’s reward for funny lines.
And savage lines.
This episode has some pretty touching moments, but it's also a lot funnier than I remember? Netossa pointing out everyone's weakness, spraying Catra and the "We don't throw tanks at our friends" moments all made me laugh out loud.

Also how Catra was “defeated” here kinda mirrors how she was “defeated” in the Sword pt 2

I haven't noticed before, but Sorpia doesn't say a word in this episode or the whole time she's chipped. It creates such a stark contrast and sense of wrongness, since she's so talkative and bubbly all the time. The writers of this show are amazing.
Yeah, when they were talking about mean things Scorpia might say to Catra under the chip’s influence, I was like, ‘mm...I don’t think she says much of anything?’
But yeah that is excellent writing, to have her be a silent threat, totally in cold contrast to her true character.

I found out they were watching it on their third episode and I've only been on for a couple premieres bc of school and sleep.
Perfuma has some of the best lines in this episode, "We don't throw tanks at our friends!" And Adora just has this look like, "...But I wanna throw...!"
I also love the idea of her being Catra's therapist, she and Adora still need to learn how to accept their own wants and desires without it tearing them apart inside.
Which is now compounded...by Shadow Weaver slithering back into their lives.

This is where trouble begins with Adora having trouble with her identity again she is lost and unclear up until the last minutes of the finale.

As a huge League and Arcane fan I'm really happy you will watch it. Just a recommendation, the show was realeased in sets of 3 (3 episodes, 1 week break, 3 episodes, 1 week break, 3 episodes) and the show is very much designed to be watched that way. So while you don't have to I do think watching it in some similiar way (maybe 1 episodes a day for 3 days then a break or something else) would make the show more enjoyable.
And as always don't forgot to NOT play the game.
Interesting point with the plant powers being so powerful, because I know with The Owl House the Plant Coven is OP to me.
(Terra Snapdragon being the Coven Head and clearly a high level witch due to how much people fear her and how long she's kept her position. Willow shown to be an absolute mech of power in Season 2.)

I thought of Isabella from Encanto who when she started exploring her powers was also pretty OP. Plus depending on how deep plant based powers go you can do a LOT with them.
Melog mirrors Catras moods until Netossa brings out the spray bottle… Melog straight up abandons Catra and hides behind the furniture 🤣
I love it when you two get really invested into the questions at the end. It’s a real pleasure to watch and I find myself getting just as invested

Scorpia's pretty dang strong, she's out muscled She-Ra is past episodes.
I'd say Perfuma's one of the characters where we've already seen what she can do at full power so her story here is her refusing to give in and risk hurting the people she cares about.
I recommend these shows to watch next: Kipo and the age of wonderbeasts, The owl house, Heartstopper and The clone wars. These are all great shows and I think you guys would love them😊 also if you haven't already watched it I would STRONGLY recommend Steven Universe aswell 😁👍

The little moments where the friendship between Adora and Scorpia is shown really stands out to me because the thing that saved everyone from the portal was the fact that Scorpia and Adora didn’t get along. That healing has always been one of my favorite details.

catra let herself be vulnerable with adora, shadow weaver, and to an extent double trouble. she also realized that scorpia left after she entrusted her with a deep secret. so for catra to become vulnerable, it also requires unlearning from past negative experiences

Your analysis on trauma was incredible. Do you have qualifications in psychology? This podcast has been very psycho analytical across the whole thing but I think the absolute clarity with which you describe how people regress when returning to their sources of trauma tells me that you truly know what you're talking about.
Netossa throwing a random piece of tech and Entrapta running after it like a dog playing fetch will always be funny to me.

So this is going to be a real hot take and I understand why people wouldn't like it. But I don't like perfuma very much in this season. I both get and appreciate the message that vulnerability and is not weakness and you have to make yourself vulnerable in order to be empathetic. I also like that perfume is instantly ready to go on the attack to defend her friends. But she was putting all of her friends in danger in order to prove her point. Maybe it's because I've had bad experiences with toxic positivity but this episode in particular really rubbed me the wrong way when it comes to perfuma, character I otherwise have mostly fond feelings for. It just kind of felt like we went back to the episode when she was first introduced and she was two pacifistic to believe they could stand up for themselves. When you're putting other people in danger for your own idealism I have a hard time respecting it. And again I understand the point was that she believed in Scorpia but she didn't have to be right to help her they should have targeted the chip like catra suggested
Scorpia has always been super strong. Remember when they were moving those heavy crates. It took at least two horde soldiers. But then Scorpia came by and lifted them like they were as light as a feather.
Also that time she was handling both She-Ra and Glimmer at the same time without really needing to strain herself.

As much as like Perfuma made Catra had a reality check in the beginning, the jabs she made at her after that moment kinda annoyed me (I mean they were kinda warranted but also unnecessary)
Also Perfuma putting her friends in danger just to prove a point also kinda annoyed me. Perfuma needs/needed to understand not everything can be solved with talking things through……I’m just not the biggest fan of Perfuma. I don’t hate her, far from it. But there are times where she annoys me a lot.
She does make up for it (to me) with that little pep talk she gave Catra near the end of the episode.

The following is not a criticism of Montana’s analysis! Simply an extension of her analysis with my own personal context!
So, Montana is talking about how not needing to ask for things the way you had to in high school can help change your neural pathways. However, it can be different for disabled people.
Nowadays, I still need a lot of support from my parents, despite being almost 26 years old. I’m not confident in my ability to drive with my mental health issues (I often have extremely delayed reaction time, I am triggered by loud noises (ie. cars revving engines and honking) because of my PTSD, I deal with severe dissociation almost constantly, and my depth perception is damn near non-existent), I rarely have the mental energy to make food more complicated than a sandwich (and even that is too much sometimes), etc etc you get the point lol
As a disabled person, moving back in with your parents is even harder because it just reminds you how disabled you are, because NOTHING has changed since you were in high school. It’s especially hard if your parents infantilize you, treating you like a child instead of treating you like a disabled adult
I find it interesting that while Netossa talks a lot about the Princess' weaknesses, she never points out one for Scorpia. I'd be curious as to what she's consider her weakness to be.

I believe that She-Ra lost her powers because she was in the Black Garnet chamber, which is Shadow Weaver's power source. She's traumatised by the Black Garnet because Shadow Weaver used it to try erase her memories on Season 1. Montana explains it when she talks about geographical location triggering you.
Also SPOILER, she later loses She-Ra while being near Shadow Weaver.
A note about Scorpia's strength in this episode. She's always had this power but she's such a gentle person and hesitant to use her abilities to their full potential. Every princess after they've been chipped have had no problem unleashing their power because they don't care about collateral damage or hurting the people close to them
PLEASE... do The Dragon prince after Arcane! come on! this tv show is amazing AND have Sokka in it(voice actor... but these characters kind of simillar... still it is damn Sokka my boi)!
I like that we finally get an answer to why Shera's trigger words are "For the honor of grayskull" after "Rebel squadron grayskull"
and as for friendship (or in this case relationships) there's a reason the sacred band of thebes did so well fighting armies several times larger. their bond of love was strong as hell

The melog/golem thing made a lot more sense with the character named melog in the og show; was an actual person made of mud+magic, so much closer to a traditional jewish golem. Melog is definitely a better name than catra's cat in the original 80s version "Clawdeen"
They actually wanted to use Clawdeen the pink lion for Catra"s therapy cat, but alas, Steven Universe already had an identical looking magical pink lion. So they went digging in 80s She-Ra lore for a substitute.

If you guys ever end up watching Legend or Vox Machina look at their druid character Key’leth. I think she has a lot of Perfuma traits and the show runner of She-Ra Noelle Stephenson actually guest starred on the stream back before She-Ra. I’m not saying the stole Perfuma but I think she got some ideas for Perfuma’s arc from their D&D games.

After Arcane you guys should consider Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts. Has 3 seasons, 10 episodes per season, and it’s amazing.
In this episode I really couldn't get to Perfuma but the part of Netossa and Bow's dad was 📈
