This probably is the inspiration for the Liszt sonata in terms of structure (both are four-in-one pieces, those which can be both considered to contain a single movement or four movements).
I've always thought that what comes at 11:05 is one of the most gorgeous, tender and sad musical passages in all piano literature. This interpretation confirms it. Truly an amazing performance
I first heard this on radio 25 + years ago.... it stunned me. The versatility and contrast in Demidenko's playing far outdoes any other pianist, and there is an unmatchable energy and sheer power to the finale which is beyond any other recording. Heard Pollini 'OK', heard Jando 'OK', heard Kissin 'good'; heard Demidenko 'THAT IS THE ONE!!!!!!!! Was only availalble as a 2-disc set with the Impromptus (both sets) and Moments Musicaux. Jando remains my first choice for all these pieces. But in the Wanderer.... the most extrovert of Schubert's music, with a Hammerklavier feel of conquering the inconquerable and going beyond... this recording by Demidenko is just incredibly strong, driven, clear, and it lays waste to the competition.
Thank you very much for sharing your experience! This recording of the Wanderer Fantasy definitely stands out, but I also find the rest of the release quite enjoyable too. I would even go as far as saying that the C minor Impromptu is also one of the finest versions available, in my opinion. I'm not a huge fan of Jandó in this music though, I find him a bit too heavy-handed for Schubert.
@@EppurMusic yes, I first listened to it while I am playing a rhythm game named Pianista. There are only the first and fourth movements of this piece in that game. I also uploaded it so I know it as it is.
Out of curiosity, how do you match the midis? Do you take a computer generated one of the piece and then stretch&compress sections around to match the audio?
Do you take recommendations? If so I think Rachmaninoff rhapsody on a theme of Paganini, any Brahms or Prokofiev concerto and Rachmaninoff sonata 1 would be great! Are you planning on doing any of them in the future?
No I don't. But I can tell you that the Paganini Rhapsody and Brahms' first piano concerto are definitely in the back of my head. Given the huge scale of these works (especially the Brahms), I can't tell when they're going to happen.
@@EppurMusic I didn’t expect you to say yes😅. But I had some hope that some of the works I named were on the radar. I am glad to hear. Keep up the great work and thank you for delivering such high quality videos. Even though I read sheet music, this is much more relaxing and entertaining to watch😁
No because it's a Hyperion recording, which you normally can't find on RUclips. There's actually a high chance that this video will be taken down if Hyperion learns about it.

One of the greatest interpretations I have ever heard.
Have you listened to it already?

and yes I also listened to that pianist's interpretation of the piece on a cd I bought.
@@EppurMusic also I have a request, can you do Nicanor Abelardo's first Nocturne? It was Chopin-like nocturne and beautiful.
@@norixsynth it’s been done on ky6000

@@Dylonely_9274 it's my favourite piece for piano solo, but my favourie piece now is Medtner Piano concerto no.2
Excellent work
Thanks for this nice piece !!!

Yes, this is exactly how it works!
@@EppurMusic wow that must take a lot of work especially with longer pieces!
Very nice :)
A trivial march in weddings

Is there another video of this recording on youtube? Can’t find it anywhere

Nyiregihazi tops this but this is great
