Sadly Maple Springs Road has been closed since the 2014 fire. I don't know personally about the other routes to the peak, but this one was doable in my old '93 2WD Toyota Pickup twice years ago, was only able to get to the 2nd gate at 2:51 due it being locked. Planning to headup there with the new TE 4Runner soon.

This entrance is closed as well for the same reason. Supposedly it will open again in November. I went to go up in my new Forester and got shot down. Looks like Holy Jim is all we've got on this side of the Mt.

+Cymru Wynn The Maple springs closure was extended. AFAIK, there is no expected date for reopening due to high risk of debris flow.
      From October 1, 2015
"Recently, Forest Service personnel observed new slope failures, rock fall, and dry ravel in the burn area, all of which helped support their decsion to keep the road closed. Silverado Canyon has already experienced several debris flows, including the July 19, 2015 storm, and September 15, 2015 in which 2 inches of rain caused three mudslides including a 4-foot-deep debris flow that covered Silverado Canyon Road."

I believe it's always open unless the forest service deems it unsafe or is maintaining the roads. Unless there are uncharacteristically heavy rains or there is a fire in the area, it should be open. You can always call the Cleveland National Forest Service or check the forest road status webpage: fs.usda.gov/detailfull/cleveland/alerts-notices/ (add the w w w)
