What a coincidence. I was driving in Newport Beach the other day (where I live) and saw your license plate. Thought it was a good one. Then I search RUclips for trails in OC and the first one I pick I see your plate again. Small world this interweb. Good video.
Great video! I took my family up there to the peak (lookout point) yesterday. We took Indian truck, then the Main Divide road to the top. Took my basically stock 2007 2wd Tahoe. Made it up no problem, thankfully. Got a few scratches from bushes/branches, but that's part of the fun. I actually want to do the Bee canyon. to Idyllwild trail run soon too.
wow what was it like back then? i’m a 15 year old teen and i live right near indian truck trail entrance. me and my friend are planning on taking our bikes all the way up to santiago peak and bike down to irvine from there.
@@sholohhhwent a amazing actually! I’m 18 now and back then it was just a great experience, was planning to go back up just couple weeks ago but couldn’t, will try to soon for sure
Luckily up here in NH we have a ton of class 6 roads to wheel. But some people don't tread lightly and make s bad name for the responsible people. That's why I was glad to join exploring Anaheim they are all about keeping the trails open. If you are ever up to the NH area let me know and we can hit some trails!
+Bearded Jeeper I’m all about tread lightly! I will be attending Tierra De Sol’s 54th Desert Safari event in 2 weeks and they are our regional nonprofit that helps fight the environmentalist from shutting down our trails. It’s important to support all the groups who keep us out on the trail. I would love to wheel in NH someday!
I just bought a 2017 Ford Escape Ecoboost 4WD and this is what I'm talking about where to take it! I went to the of roads at Joshua Tree and that was nice but this is next;) it's going to be cool
After all the rain this season, I would certainly not call this trail "easy" any longer. Trails have been compromised, and the ruts are huge. There was a major mudslide up there awhile ago, 4 vehicles were caught in it.
TrailRecon have they renamed Mount. SaddleBack.? because 35+ years ago that,s what it was called by all of the locals.there is a trail that if it,s still open. it,s called Sherman,s Jeep Trail. it,s near Lake Isabella. my Dad and some family friends went on it back in 1976. at the peak of Mount SaddleBack the Forestry Dept. had a fire tower there. it,s high enough that some times it gets snow.
I had to work up there as it was part of my territory(SCE) We drove 6x6 line trucks up there, and there is about six different trails out if you have the key!
Thank you for your comments! Driving a 6x6 up there must have been a blast. What a privilege to have ventured off on those rarely traveled locked trails.
+TrailRecon This is Mary's husband ,Bob, I just notice that the The title has my wife's name ,Ha Ha....Anyway going to the peak in June and finding snow was really weird. I also use to go to Catalina Island and drove the company Jeep all over the Island( it looked like someone dropped you in Black Star or Trabuco Cyns.)
Wow it's getting crowded up there. Just three years ago I only came across one or two jeeps, the rest were ether Us (Edison), or the phone company or the USFS...Use your horn on those turns because running into a Edison Line truck or a USFS fire truck will rune your day....
love going up to Santiago peaks from Maple Springs on my mountai bike! A lung buster! Pretty damn sure all the guys in the cars and motos are wondering if mountain bikers are crazy folks climbing on a bicycle. Tell you what though, going down I usually blow by the cagers easily, but not the moto guys.
I would say 95% of the trail you would be fine. There were only a couple rutted & rocky sections were you may want 4 wheel drive, but you might be able to manage it with high clearance and some good off road tires.
Is your Jeep a 2x4? I live right near Santiago Peak and recently got a Jeep - 2010 Wrangler 2x4 - and want to start exploring - I am wondering if 4 wheel drive is really necessary?
+kenny cadarett Thank you! The music is by: Ethan Meixsell - Vindicated, Ethan Meixsell - In the Shadows, and Silent Partner - Please Tell Me. We always put the music links in the description.
It's been a long time since I've been up there, but I believe there was a section at the top where it was necessary. You could probably do the whole thing in 2wd with good tires and a good line.
Ran this trail dozens of times from 1990-2013. We used 4WD just in case, but it never really required it, and often times the USFS would gate off the difficult areas.
I live in va and trying to find some closeby trails. I checked this website but i dont think its operational anymore. Does anyone have a good website similar to the one you mentioned in this video?
yonatan Diaz really!? That's so cool. However, could you please confirm the picture I took at this location: N 33°42.484' , W 117°30.089' drive.google.com/file/d/1iDwWOPDAuFuR5vo3ahMBg4feqmIUf3NxSw/view?usp=drivesdk Is it the Indian Truck Trail? I am so confused. Thanks in advance.
Most trails in SD are gated and signed because back in the 80s we disrespected the environment, destroyed it with off road motorcycles, off roaded high as kites and basically gave cops the middle finger............

Sweet 80’s guitar riffs. Your Jeep is unrecognizable here.

Awesome! I love Bee Canyon... great views and it's just cool running from the desert to pine trees in just a couple hours.
WOW, I remember running this trail in the late 80's/early 90's.

Went on it last 2 weekends and first one all the way to top. What a ride good for wearing out your tires go slow or your asking for trouble!
Thats a great trail. I actually used to live in that housing development. Was up there on occasion on my dual sport bike.
That is a great route for dual sport!

Love Santiago all the way to were the view Doppler Dallas rains radar down to Ortega highway is a nice getaway.

Oh wow, I hadn't heard about the mudslide. Maybe I need to make another trip up there and check to the new terrain.

How's it going !! Do you recommend 2x up there what are your thoughts ?
I would say 95% of the trail you would be fine. There were only a couple rutted & rocky sections were you may want 4 wheel drive, but you might be able to manage it with high clearance and some good off road tires.
Were r the directions. To find d the trail
Does this trail start at Ortega Hwy and does it still exist. Rangers over there told me some of the rode slid down the hill after last years rains.
Looks like a chill trail. Can you see Orange County at the peak? Was it an up and back or loop? Thanks.
You can see most of SoCal up there, and there’s plenty of ways to go up and down if the gates are open. Have u been yet? How was it
Back when the Main divide was still good and not closed by the FS
Wait.. so people hike on the same trail that gets driven on?
Can a full size truck make it through?
Did it with my 2500 ram. So yes. Gets tight in some areas. You will have a branch or bush more than likely contact your truck.
@@johntremblay4400 thanks. I went 4th of July weekend with my silverado 2500. Did get several scratches
How is the trail when it comes to passing cars going the opposite way, is it too narrow or is there room for both to slide by each other?
Is your Jeep a 2x4? I live right near Santiago Peak and recently got a Jeep - 2010 Wrangler 2x4 - and want to start exploring - I am wondering if 4 wheel drive is really necessary?
Nope, 4wd here, but Santiago Peak is pretty easy and you should be fine as long as you stay on the main trail.
1:30 you can see my house from there!
the music is pretty cool can you tell who they are

So did you begin at Main Divide and where did you end? thinking about hitting up this trail on Saturday.
Can u reply with the link to the website you used?
Dirt topia website ?
Hey man what winch did you mount on the front, on the factory bumper? And how?
I am not going lie ....... I couldn’t find the entrance or maybe due to the fires it’s closed
Is this trail wide enough for incoming traffic? Or how do you exit.
Dose, the Indiana truck Trail take you to Santiago peak ? And did the Rangers say anything to you ? And awesome video.
I was there last week. No motorized vehicles allowed to enter the Indian Truck Trail. It is just for hiking and horse riding only.
Nguyen Nguyen no you can take your truck and Dirtbike

yonatan Diaz Nice, thanks for quick response. I will go there next week.
think a stock 1500 silverado could make this trail with some weight in the back...got a 8ft bed
The trail is easy. You won't have any problem.
How big are your tires and whats the make?
Thanks
When we did Santiago they were just the stock BFG Mud Terrains, now we are running these: ruclips.net/video/-v1ZHi40FYI/видео.html

How could I access these trails from Temecula?
+HbCon22 There are a few ways to get there, we took 15 N to 74W and then R on the N Main Divide (S304).
I just did this Trail in my WK2 Trailhawk
I keep meaning to go back, spectacular views up there!
I wanna bring my 2013 ml350 to this place

Would have been better with the real sound instead of stock, quasi metal guitar.
Music has to go 🤦♂️
