  • To fail to plan is to plan to fail! In this video, Charles Osmond, a Groundworks Trainer at OHOB Training Academy explains how to read site drawings and plan for an underground drainage system installation. Before you start installing any drainage pipes you need a clear plan, and watching this video will teach you how to understand the site drawings and correctly install the underground drainage to meet the requirements.
This is the first video in our 'How to install underground drainage' series. Watch all of the videos in the series to get a good beginners understanding of how drainage systems should be installed in the UK.
Here at Drainfast, we have partnered with the OHOB Training Academy to produce a series of videos to show how to install underground drainage for beginners and how to begin a career in the construction industry.

Would you please be kind enough to clarify what sort of distance your vertical feedpipe to the rest bend would be from the wall? When setting out like this, are these distances variable or would they always be installed at a certain distance from the wall surface?

The distance is variable and depends on the drawings as the architect should have thought about where it needs to be positioned.

@@drainfast-uk Thanks for that. If the architect did not put such details on the drawing, would you have a "default" distance that you would use?

@@peefor135 In our experience, the drawings we have seen, are typically right against the wall.

@@drainfast-uk I guess that would be the easiest to put in. It just seems a little odd to me that no allowance is made for wall coating i.e dot&dab, render, or tiling on trad plaster. One for the plumber to sort out. Thanks again.
