- Vintage Guitar Oldenburg and Tobias Hoffmann present an all original Gibson Les Paul Goldtop from 1955. More infos at: www.vintage-guitar.de/details...
The guitar shown was played through a Fender Deluxe Reverb from 1978 and recorded with a Shure SM57 (right) and a Sennheiser 409 (left) . The backing tracks were recorded into a Fame Twin Looper on the same instrument right before the recording of each video. A Red Panda Tensor was used for additional loops and sounds. Overdrive Sounds come from a Vemuram Jan Ray and the Greer Amps Lightspeed as booster.
Tobias Hoffmann is a award winning guitar player from cologne, germany. He combines the sounds of Jazz, Blues, Rock, Surf and some experimental stuff. Check him out:

I can't imagine what the people in 1955 would have thought if they heard THAT guitar playing music such as this back then.
The supremely talented guy reaches in and finds this Gibson guitars soul. The Gibson guitar is happy and sings its heart out for us. This is pure magic.

This is so good, I could listen for hours.. Tobias is a class of its own.
The patina of that guitar is beautiful!!!Right away Tobias was bringing out the warmth of those pickups with blues inspired licks then accenting its brightness with staccato picking to add lightness on top with fabulous runs. He paid testimony to that awesome guitar by bringing out the incredible tone and range of that venerable instrument by delineating it’s traditional and historic uses and taking it somewhere new as well. What a guitar and what a player! It is history giving us an amazing combo in action! Beautiful!
It’s like he takes question and answer phrases to another level, each melody leading to another, something I’ve only heard in the best jazz musicians, it’s music!

Tobias is just amazing. I’m not sure about the “all original” Les Paul part, though. I’m not an expert, but in ‘55 wouldn’t it have had a single piece wraparound bridge rather than the stop tailpiece and tune-o-matic?
The 54 LP had a wraparound bridge but in fall 55 Gibson started with the tuno-o-matic bridge and this is one of the first LPs with it.
