  • Most archivists are great at giving genealogists access. Some, however, can be difficult. Learn how Brooke Schreier Ganz and her organization, Reclaim the Records, uses state-level freedom of information laws to get these records into the hands of researchers. How would I go about finding the marriage license for my great great grandparents? Would it be the same? They were married in Troy, NY in January 1885.

You Tube is suddenly alive with Genealogy Experts , all prommising new access to records and ways of USING, existing records. Which is fine, if you live in the USA. AS they all seem to be. I spent some time watching / listening , but all references are to strictly American procedures. Most of these large organisations, like 'Ancestry' etc . are supposed to be , International in outlook. but I've had few succeses on there, searching for years, trying to find the Death entry of my Aunt in the UK. who I know, was alive in 1942. So, not a ancient case, which MUST be recorded somewhere.
