Why are they talking about the 11 and 12 year old girls helping out while there are older sons around... don't see them lifting a finger.

+A Girl And her Glock if you watch the full series you will realise they don't abide by gender roles as you have implied. They all do an equal amount of work most of the time but it just so happens that most of the girls are younger than the boys and obviously as teenagers the older ones are given a bit more time to themselves to complete homework and to be teenagers.

Pregnant women get treated as if they are very special, so the mother seems to enjoy the special treatment she gets from society, while her kids have to share her with 20 siblings.... Very selfish mum. Seriously sit down and think how little personal time you would share with your mum if you had 20 siblings.

I am not really a children person, but let's look at the situation objectively for a minute, shall we?
    1) A hard-working man running his own business (not relying on welfare like many in a much less demanding life situation would); successfully supporting a huge family (even managing to support his almost adult daughter who is ambitious enough to study)
    2) It is apparent that the children are well taken care of (both emotionally and materially) and they have a happy childhood
    3) The Children are not spoilt rotten and are brought up well enough to know that they have a financial limit on the gifts , which is rarely seen nowadays
Ergo: Hats off to this lovely, brave couple!

The thing that stands out the most to me with this family is how close they are. I can see how much the parents love and cherish their kids. When the kids move out and can’t wait to come home again, that speaks volumes. The kids seem to be well behaved as well.

I have to admit, that just by hearing about a family with 17 kids, I was prejudiced and jumped to the conclusion that they must be some social case fanatic christian family, but in the documentary, their situation seems to work for them and they seem like reasonable people taking good care of every child, the kids also look like regular smart little kids. their home looks like a very warm environment filled with love. I still think its extraordinary that it is possible, but it just shows you not to be too quick to judge. Also extraordinary that the parents enjoy having that many kids both the same. They`re a great team.

To abc def: I don't suppose that many Mexicans read a Bible. Most of them are Roman Catholics, and the Roman Catholic "church" discourages its members from reading Scripture in their own language. That is why they used the Latin Vulgate for hundreds of years, and had services in Latin. They used to kill people who translated the Bible into modern languages, e.g. William Tyndale. Until this year, there was no perfect Biblia available en español, and just about everybody used a corrupt version, the Reina-Valera 1909 or 1960, which calls Jesus the pope (!) (el pontifice) in Hebrews. Now, there is a Purified 1602 Valera. (The correct title for Jesus in Hebrews is "the high priest", el sumo sacerdote.)

i just watched another interview of this family. They had another baby after this documentary so 17 kids now. And this big family does not live on government benefits, said the father. He works really hard for his family. It is nice to see how the kids take care of each other and behave that well. They have been educated even better than some of the smaller families. And the mother had the first boy at 14!

As far as supporting their own kids, Jimbob was in real estate and has quite a few industrial rentals which enabled him not to have to work a 9 to 5 job, they aren't a family that cares about the latest gadgets or named brand stuff and they were working on moving out of the small house before TLC came along.

I think what bothers me about large families, is the older children end of taking care of the younger children. I don't think its fair. I think if you have a child its your responsibilty as a parent to take care of your children, not pass it to your older kids. And this family has so many boys and they aren't pulling their weight, its the girls. We are in the 21st century.

In my opinion, their daughters aren't successful unless they're married with lots of children. +Weasel 23367 It usually doesn't work that way. I am one of 10 children, and I cannot tell you how sick I became of everyone saying to me ," Oh, and I bet you want a huge family too!" Um..no. I knew I wanted a small family-I was virtually raised by my older siblings, and I had to raise my younger siblings (I was right in the middle). I desperately needed more attention from my parents. Even with all those people around, I was horribly lonely my entire childhood. I don't know about this family, how they interact and spend time individually with their children, but I really think parental involvement is critical for a child to grow up emotionally strong and with good self-esteem.

I got turned down for adoption because I don't drive (my husband does) like that makes you a good parent! They're both adopted themselves so it's not like they're unaware of poor childrens situations! They are both loving parents and have raised a family to be proud of! All you haters need to get a grip! Believe it or not but having large families was very common over forty years ago. Children are a blessing but it's impora to be able to be able to give them all the proper love and care. My dads mom had a family of 17 kids. My dad had six in his family. If I could I would like at least four but I know my limits lol.

    • @eternity68
      @eternity68 8 лет назад +19

I know how it was in older days but the BIG difference is that nowadays we can decide and control how many kids we get. I dont think its normal to want to have 17 kids today, more like an obsession with the mom, wanting to constantly be pregnant. Its selfish of her constantly getting new ones instead of focusing in giving the ones she already have the attention and love all kids need. Someway in her chaos of kids she misses out every kids personality and need to thrive and develop as individuals. Its really not fair either to constantly let the older ones parenting the babies just because she needs to be constantly pregnant!! End of.

When you have well behaved kids its easy and don't all older siblings in any family help out with little brothers and sisters? It teaches responsibility and life skills. Nothing wrong with it unless they are missing out on their childhood because of it. this family is not lacking anything by the looks of it.

My Dad grew up in a family that had 7 surviving kids, including him. (One died young.) It worked very well. He was born in 1916, and the two eldest, girls born in 1900 and 1901, helped a lot with the young ones. I knew all of them, and they all got on well.

Gong! Children in a government school are raised in a very unnatural setting. It is contrary to the real world. The only place and time in our entire lives in which we are forced to be with numerous people our own immature age, or taught with artificially canned curriculum, is in schools such as that.
Which is why graduates of these places have such a difficult time adjusting to the real adult world.
Think, you only find home-schooling uncomfortable because you have been exposed to the government's artificial style for so long. In a historical perspective, it is government schooling that is the odd institution, not home-schooling.

Much, much respect to them for still functioning like a ''normal'' family. They go on vacations, celebrate christmas with presents and all and the older kids even seem to have their own rooms. Awesome to see how all the kids are valued and wanted and loved so much, especially after having seen a few episodes of the Duggars, I thought it was impossible to do that with so many kids. Great family I wish I was part of it.

How are they able to afford all of this? Is there so much financial support for families in Great Britain?
