This doctors shares some very honest advice
I found being part of a support group it's very helpful not a doctor talking to you. But men that have gone through this.
Check out 'Prostate Cancer PSA from 5.29 to 0.06
by Andy Hurrell'. After brachytherapy failed
he lowered his PSA by changing his diet.
20-30 % of men see a rise in PSA following a prostatectomy according to this Dr.
Interesting. And this was 10 years ago. Many men go the radical prostatectomy route (and take the risks of surgery and incontinence /impotence) because they believe it is curative without the chance of secondary cancers one may see down the road with radiation.
But 20/30% ? (Granted there are a variety of explanations).
Please give numbers on the rising PSA
You do not need anything done right now
Gerald Chodak MD my psa 6 weeks after prostatectomy was 1.8. After 9 months it is 2.45 . Should I be concerned?
Dr. Chodak, I had a prostatectomy 15 years ago. I've been on testosterone therapy for six years due to low T. My psa was nondetectable until four years ago. I've had two years of .1 readings followed by an occasional .2. Depending on my body's T level, the psa bounces around between less than .1 to .2 or .25. One doctor is suggesting radiation, 7 weeks worth. What do you think? An axium petscan showed nothing.
This doctor like so many others does not have a clue in which way to proceed with rising PSA. Mine after 13 years has gone from non existent to .3. My doctor is ready to start the battery of tests to which end?
Be glad for the 13 years.
Very vague leaves a lot of questions when it comes to prostate cancer it's a roll of the dice goes to show wearing a white jacket doesn't make you an expert
If you can afford it have your prostate removed before 60 y/o.
Limited info...
Vid published 2012. However no other new options since then :-(
With all due respect to the medical fraternity I do find this informative - BUT NOT helpful.
