Pull the wrangler decal off for sure. This build has me looking forward to the next video on it. My dad was 82nd airborne veteran (passed away July 4th last year gone to early). He drove a few willys in his early military days and turned a couple wrenches on them.
Thanks, Matt and Ryan, for honoring my Grandfather, Carl! He is a hero, although he'd tell you that he was just doing his job. It really means a lot that you are helping to spotlight these guys, our Greatest Generation. Telling their stories keeps the memory of their sacrifices alive. Thank you.
I understand getting choked up, my grandfather was a dispatch rider, and his younger brother was a tail gunner in a Lancaster. Yup, Canadian here, the younger brother was shot down and didn't come home . We were raised to remember his sacrifice, and still at 59 years of age every time I tell the stories of my grandfather's and his brothers (3 of them went) WWII memories I get choked up. It was horrific what those young men had to do, but it fills you with so much pride you can't help but to weep.
Thanks for creating this tribute Jeep I think you are doing a great job and I know my dad would have appreciated it also (he passed a couple years ago}. He served in the USMC for 30 years, serving ww2, Korea, and Vietnam. My grandkids are keeping the legacy going, my grandson serving in the Navy and granddaughter serving in the Marines. Making all of us very proud
Awesome build. Short of a early military color body wrap with color matched parts, you've done a excellent job. I'm truly enjoying watching this build.
Absolutely LOVE the cohesive look coming together with the color matching. Looks so much more unified and purposeful. Great choices - one of my fav builds on your channel. Just get those fenders matched, please. Also, I have bought several things from Distinction Applied and they all came out great.
I'm a USAF vet and Gladiator owner. I'm truly liking the color matching on this build. Suggestions: remove Wrangler sticker, color match the wiper arms, find a set of wheels that are throwbacks/color matched, get a tan top and seats. Most importantly, change out the front fenders for color matched flats. Keep up the good work on the build and tributes!
If it were not for the men and women who've served in our armed forces for the past 250 years, we would not have a United States of America. Thank you for commenting on one of our veterans from the Second World War! Andrew McKane IV, 5 January 2025, Maunaloa, Molokai, HI.
Wow awesome moment @17:22 of the video, you guys are awesome and one of the reasons I got my gladiator and the old lady a wrangler. You and Ryan are carrying the jeep community right now, Keep up the great work🙏 🔥
I was worried about all the color matching and don’t like to make judgement mid build, but this looks awesome. Everything is painted on military vehicles to prevent corrosion, and all the same color to reduce logistical support of transporting and stocking different paints. Can’t wait to see what’s next!
Ive been waiting patiently for the next video.. and finally its here... love everything you're doing. I cant wait to see the end results... great job matt and ryan .
This comment is under my wife profile but wanted to say outstanding project Sir! I actually got to drive the last M151A2’s in the Army back in 1986 at Fort Dix New Jersey before the Hummer replaced it. I will never forget the great time we had driving them in the driving range that day. I had a two door sport, back when I left the service in 2008 and once my son was born, I trade it for a sedan as it was more practical. Now watching you Sir on this project has fired me up and I had to go get a Willys 41 as a tribute to The US Army and all the soldiers I served with. My spouse wasn’t happy of course so I put the blame on your channel as an excuse for motivating me, just kidding. Thank you for sharing Sir.
Thank you for your service! Our country has a 250-year history of depending on the men and women who serve in our armed forces. A. McKane IV, former hospital corpsman, U.S. Navy, 24 August 1970 to 10 November 1971.
Great job Matt, I wouldn't worry about other people's comments, looks fantastic. I would paint the steel wheels also, even if your adding a bigger tire, and a original military gas can would look great next to spare tire
I like it. I'm digging all the colour matching... once the fenders and bumpers are done,it'll look sweet. Maybe too far, but we will see. Ya, take the Wrangler sticker off
Fantastic video guys! Love the attention to detail and the homage paid to the original. Favorite part is paying tribute to the WWII veteran. Very classy. Looking forward to the future videos on this build.
Great job! Only issue I have is with the grill, I would of painted the 7 slots in Anvil to match the trail badge and jeep logo. I think that would of really stood out and look sharp.
What you’ve done so far is fantastic. It really looks great with all the color matched parts. I’m looking forward to seeing what you have in store for the rest of it.
I know you’re going to do what you want with the build, but might I suggest some wheels that look close to the original military style ones, with some skinny knobby tires? Toyo makes a 255/80r17 mid terrain that measures out to about a 33.5” tire and you could run that with no lift, especially if you change out the fender flares. Can’t wait to see what you choose!
Good stuff guys. Drove jeeps in the Army and never thought I would own one. The Army jeeps were susceptible to rolling over so you had to be careful. Keep it going in the new year. 😎
Thank you guys for this build, it speaks to the respect you have for our country and those men. You are doing a terrific job! I love the taillights, probably my favorite, but it all looks good, each piece is purposeful, the anvil on the side badges, how thoughtful, and to share the reason is just great! (Do take the wrangler stickers off ;) I really look forward to the fenders, I’m hoping for a steel fender that carry’s the old flat fender look. I’m sure you’ll pick something fitting! Seriously guys if there’s any way you could get a set of wheels from jeep’s new 41 edition that would be an AMAZING touch. For real!!! I don’t know if it’s possible to match the tread from the old days, but as skinny of tire as fits that rim would be so cool. Idk if that’s possible or feasible but I’ll dream about it in the mean time lol! I’ll be happy with whatever you guys do with it, you are doing such a great job. Honestly I am so excited about this build. A wonderful time period of our nation’s history, and you guys are doing an amazing job honoring it. Thank you for your time, energy, resources, respect, honor, and heritage you are investing into this build. It’s wonderful guys
I think you are hitting a home run!!! Nice follow through on the concept of doing a war style Jeep. I want to recommend not doing the cliche air vent decals for the location of the nose art. I can’t put a finger on where it should go, but the vent isn’t the place. Great work guys, keep it up, I look forward to what is to come!
I really like this Willys Jeep build so far! I agree Matt about having the taillights as a simple halogen. They look good color matched and fits the build well. Don’t know what your plans are for the tires and wheels. Maybe you can color match the current oem steel wheels and put them on a set of 33 inch at tires.
i LOVE what you have done so far ! SPOT ON ! i’d do the same as i’m a military jeep nut. Yes, pull off the Wrangler decal. Maybe the only change might have been round lights at the rear, if available. Can’t wait to see how you change the fenders. Probably a flat fender style up front ! And others have said, a tan soft top, again if available. Any thoughts of a different tire tread design ?
As a former Navy junior and a veteran of the United States Navy, the Dirt Road Cred "theme" certainly works for me. We military folks like all-things uniform. A. McKane IV, 5 January 2025.
I might be a loner on this but I would have loved to see this 41’ build up, in a matte paint job. I think it’s a great color but it’s too glossy or me. 😅 I’m still eager to see how this turns out 😊
Everything looks great. But for the grille I would have left the inside/honeycomb of the slats in black. That would have looked closer to the original and made the slats more pronounced.
Love seeing the transition! Might have missed it and feel a little dumb asking, what is sticking out of the grill on the driver's side? Antenna mount? Thanks n keep em coming!
i LOVE what you have done so far ! SPOT ON ! i’d do the same as i’m a military jeep nut. Maybe the inly change might have been round lights at the rear, if available. Very cool build. I look forward to the bumpers, fenders, and interior changes. Question… Assuming you guys will be folding the windshield for shows later this year… how will you tie it down since the bumper covers close-in the tie-down loops? Perhaps they can be modified to work.
I didn’t think I would like so much color match but I’m liking it. I don’t think it would work so much color match on another color. I hope you do some “pizza cutter” tires to make it look vintage
@@DIRTROADCRED100% agreed! Steelies with 35x10.50R17. Coker does a Tornel “750-17” that would look cool, too. Maybe even paint the wheels “‘41” colour, as well. 1.25” body lift install would be just enough to fit them. And, perhaps this is self-serving, but I don’t think ANYONE has done a well-done video on body lifting the JL’s, yet.
Looks fantastic! The `41 color has me thinking: (1) Now (the correct timing in 2025) is here for me to purchase our (my wife and my) next Jeep. (My wife's Jeep is to be a Gladiator. Hopefully we can get the `41 exterior color on my wife's Gladiator.) (2) This one will take quite a bit of scheming. My wife has quite the eye for colors and how they appear in all sorts of things, from houses, clothes, "accessories" (the sort of things women so greatly love but we men know nothing about), and, of course, motor vehicles. Historical generalists would probably describe me as a "World War II historian." Actually, I am a Pearl Harbor specialist. (Things never yet published on U.S. war planning, Magic, Ultra, and what led to Japan's "surprise attack" on select elements of the U.S. Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941. I began doing full-time research into the subject in October 1983 when I made the decision to "get the hell out" of the Land Rover and Rover parts business in San Diego. Hopefully, before the year 2025 comes to an end, a book titled "PEARL HARBOR: THE FIRST OVERT ACT" will be published in time for the 250th anniversary of the United States Navy. This is cool for content but the best thing you can do with a jeep like this is keep it stock as possible. Maybe slightly bigger tires and tint the windows.

Get rid of the Wrangler sticker, then when you're done with the decals, PPF in the matte, it would make it look awesome, and if you don't like it you can take it off.
Why no manual? I thought you wanted your 24 to be a manual but couldnt wait. I waited 9 months and well worth it. Would like to see some videos about the manual jeep. You explain things really well.
I like the idea of making the new jeep to look like an old military jeep. It's actually the way they should have come from the factory. Just need color matched flat fenders and simpler less ugly bumper. But question, can the old traditional 7 slot grill be installed? I hate the new ugly plastic looking grill in the new jeeps.
We are so pumped to finally start this build!

You should do a tan top, paint the fenders and bumper.
Got some fun plans for the fenders and bumpers! Stay tuned
And wheels
Pull the wrangler decal off for sure. This build has me looking forward to the next video on it. My dad was 82nd airborne veteran (passed away July 4th last year gone to early). He drove a few willys in his early military days and turned a couple wrenches on them.
Sorry for your loss! Jesus loves you!
My favorite addition is those wood dipped windshield bumps. Maybe body color those wiper arms too.
The straight steel bumper from Unofficial Use Only that was used on the Quadratec YJL would look amazing on this build.
The windshield bumpers in the woodgrain is a beautiful touch. They look so good.
Thank you.

Gas decal needs to be smaller. Thought I wasn’t going to like the grill, but it looks great based on your theme. Love your channel.

Looking great and I really like the color matching so far. Great job and loved the story about Carl Will.
Fantastic video guys! Love the attention to detail and the homage paid to the original. Favorite part is paying tribute to the WWII veteran. Very classy. Looking forward to the future videos on this build.
Owning a Jeep in this color and watching this video makes me extremely jealous!
Thank you guys and Carl for your service 🫡
Looks good‼️

I do not like colour matching on Jeeps. But I love what you are doing here, makes so much sense. Thank you
Love that color.

We're going to do our best to stick with our initial vision for this build, stay tuned for the fender reveal!
Looks awesome. Love it. Looking forward to the next steps.
The grill looks so sweet!
i have to say... it's AWESOME! i love ALL of it!
I think you are hitting a home run!!! Nice follow through on the concept of doing a war style Jeep. I want to recommend not doing the cliche air vent decals for the location of the nose art. Did you have the link for the stencils?
I was hesitant about this project when you announced it but I watched, and I like it so far. Good job!
I think you should ditch the wrangler decals.
Love the lights
Looking forward to keeping up with this.... you've got me looking at 2025 2 door, 41 color jeeps
Just amazing! I love the build your doing and everything going on!
I look forward to every week to all the videos you do and put out.

Half doors with a tan upper section with a tan softop. Also the new mopar flat fenders
When you do your thing with the fenders you should put the tire pressure on them.
Sorry guys, way too much color matching. I get the theme but it's not working for me. Still a great project, make it yours!
As a former Navy junior and a veteran of the United States Navy, the Dirt Road Cred "theme" certainly works for me. We military folks like all-things uniform. A. McKane IV, 5 January 2025.

A thin piece of clear PPF could be installed where the latches make contact.
I just told my wife my 2020 Sarge Green Willys is perfect. Then you do this.
Absolutely love it!
Everything looks great. But for the grille I would have left the inside/honeycomb of the slats in black. That would have looked closer to the original and made the slats more pronounced.

Paint it all 41 green and be done with it. It looks great, but paint it all green and its gonna be right for the heritage side of this build .
Youse a sneaky sneaky. Quite enjoyable video, Ryan. Oh, and you too Matt (haha). Are you going to color match them black bolts, too?
Luke!!! Your new profile pic is throwing us off. Definitely need to paint them.
Very cool build. I look forward to the bumpers, fenders, and interior changes. Question… Assuming you guys will be folding the windshield for shows later this year… how will you tie it down since the bumper covers close-in the tie-down loops? Perhaps they can be modified to work.
It looks awesome!
If you are going for a WWII look why not use the OG JL grill with the longer slots?
Remove the Wrangler sticker and a tan roof would look real nice.
Can you do a video on adding the High Altitude mirrors with lights?
Looking great but why not swap out the grill for the 2018 to 2023 grill which looks more historically correct?
Should have gone manual transmission for this theme. Missed opportunity.
Paint match those rims in the same color ❤
Definitely do a tan top😎
I would love to get the same wood grain colored windshield bumpers.
I didn’t think I would like so much color match but I’m liking it. I don’t think it would work so much color match on another color. I hope you do some “pizza cutter” tires to make it look vintage
Agreed!
Any chance you might color match the fabric dash somehow? I’ve always thought the new fabric Dash looks out of place… Thoughts? Thanks.

Nice, thanks for the video. Please make a review video for a 2025 "Wrangler Sport S" 2-doors, 6-speed manual transmission. 🚙
The black fenders look fine, but I'm interested to see what you do with them. Delete the Wrangler sticker. Great content.
This is cool for content but the best thing you can do with a jeep like this is keep it stock as possible. Maybe slightly bigger tires and tint the windows.
You will like the way we build it
Got to get half doors for this.
Color doesn't seem to match? Maybe it shiw great on video
Some dark gunmetal would break things up a bit.
Looking good.
Looking great! It's close to perfect. A. McKane IV, 5 January 2025
The 41 concept needs to be gas powered not ev
Need some old-school pizza cutters next!
What about a military stencil style Wrangler sticker?
Personally, I think you’ve got every choice right. I can see why you’ve done each and every item. There will always be the haters out there who just want to have something negative to say…
Thank you for the kind words Nathan
Can you guys design some grill lights for older grille stlye
We are. Taking some time to engineer it
Shes looking good guys 👌
What brand are the keyhole covers?
Painting the grill inserts black would REALLY make it pop.

Well Distinction Applied is now getting some of my money…
Why no manual? I thought you wanted your 24 to be a manual but couldnt wait. I waited 9 months and well worth it. Would like to see some videos about the manual jeep. You explain things really well.
Couldn’t find one in the manual, had to jump on this one. Correct we wanted one on our 2024 but factory build times on those were 6+ months
Super cool
Its beautiful car men 41 Paint bumpers end the fenders green wow men
need army lettering in more than 1 place. love it so far...
Adding more as the build goes on
I like the idea of making the new jeep to look like an old military jeep. It's actually the way they should have come from the factory. Just need color matched flat fenders and simpler less ugly bumper. But question, can the old traditional 7 slot grill be installed? I hate the new ugly plastic looking grill in the new jeeps.
That mesh between the grill slats need to be painted flat black.
The black screws for the cowl pieces now look out of place. I am looking forward to seeing the complete build. 👍
Fenders and steel bumpers need to be done too
