  • Here are some quick checks to troubleshoot your ozone generator. Using ozone in tandem with a filter is how I keep my cold plunge water clear and sanitary for 100+ days at a time.
In this video I will cover some best practices, tests and other insights to make sure your Ambohr Spa-124 Ozone Generator is operating the way it should.

Excellent Video: I purchased/installed the Ozone Generator & Venturi Injector on my Penguin Chiller with a ¾ hp motor as presented in a previous video and outlined on the included installation instructions. Results: Was not able to create a sufficient vacuum within the Venturi Injector. Solution: Installed a Ball Valve at the Filter Housing. Doing so permitted me to adjust the water flow to the filter thus creating adequate vacuum at the Venturi Injector resolving the issue. Thank you for providing great content.

How did you modify the loop to add the ball valve? Ball valve between tee and filter housing I imagine... Extend other piping as needed downline to accommodate the additional part?

Hey from Europe! Great video! Trying to find an ozone generator available in EU based on your specs, however I only seem to find similar ones with ozone of 300-1000mg/h and the one you recommend has 50mg/h. What difference does it make? Thanks!

The output on those is much higher than needed for a tank this size. You should be able to manage it with a timer though

Hey Joe, thanks for all you do!
QQ. Any chance you can describe a minimal setup?
I bought the 150 frame blueprints, as well as the luxury and plumbing bundle. However, due to budgeting (:cough: broke), i will have to buy the pieces over time.
I'm planning to start with "just" the cooler, pump, and tub. (I'll obviously have to clean it or use a foalter tabe until next month).
Then, in a couple months, I'll be able to build the frame. Then I'll do the foam and cover a month or so later.
So I'm hoping you can describe how you would approach this if you wanted to get cold now, but had to build up over time??
    Thankd again for everything!

Hey! I started with just the tank. Then I insulated it. From there, added a pump, filter, ozone and eventually a chiller. This was the best incremental way for me. You could do it pretty much any order you want, just know that youll need a pump with your chiller.

You can make the frame from a few 2x4s and cover it with 2 sheets of plywood then waterproof the wood. Make sure to get the pressure treated kind tho. You can insulate the entire tank with 1-2 sheets of polypro or r-tech(foil lined styrofoam) both only cost $35.
If you want to replace the plywood with planks later you can

Danner makes a venturi tube that attaches on the end of their water pumps that you sell.
Would hooking the ozone generator tubing to their venturi tube still allow the ozone generator to operate efficiently? They advertise that their tube allows for air to get into the system to create bubbles so does this mean it would have enough pull or vaccum through it to pull the ozone through the system?

    • @DIYColdPlunge
      @DIYColdPlunge  2 месяца назад

I would be concerned introducing air into the system and having it pass through the chiller. Potential buildup of air is typically not good in a chiller.

If you need the ozone generator above the water line, but the pump below the water outlet, I wouldn't be able to house these in the same housing with my IBC tank. What would you suggest?

Is there any benefit or harm to reducing the length of the the tube from the ozone generator to the venturi? I have the generator sitting above the water level, and will have the check valve in place, but with where my generator is going to sit in relation to the venturi, I definitely don't need the full length of hose that comes with it.

Its best to loop it in that case, more protection from back flow of water

I bought a ozone generator from you and followed your blueprint exactly in building all the pvc, venturi, pump, and GE whole house filter. Anyway when the filter is on filter water comes out of the venturi connection when I turn the filter to bypass I can hear venturi sucking air from the ozone generator what could it be please help.

What pump are you using, typically a flow/power issue. These are best handles as replies to your order. Not in the RUclips comments... too hard to keep track of.

Danner now offers their pumps with venturi injector attachments. You don't have to build the whole system around the sediment filter. Just hook the ozone to to the injector on the pump and have your sediment filter next in line. Saves a bunch of space and takes the guess work out of building a apparatus to route around your sediment filter.

Question I built the same filter setup and got an ozone generator from you. Do I still need to add any chemicals to the water besides ozone to keep it clean? It’s keep indoors with a cover. Thxs

I've kept mine sanitary for 3 months at a time with just ozone and filter changes. I never noticed a huge change in the water with test strips. You may need to monitor that depending on use and the water quality in your area.

I wonder if you can confirm why the Ozone generator needs to be above the water line? Is this just to stop the risk of back flow of water, if the valve fails?

    • @DIYColdPlunge

It's best practice to have it above the water line for that reason 👍

@@DIYColdPlunge Many thanks for your help with this. Sorry I have another question I've not been able to find the answer to. I assume you could use an air pump if the Venturi does does not made a strong enough vacuum? It could run off the same timer too. Is there a reason not to so this, other than cost to buy, run and complexity to setup? Thank you once again for your time.
