The lyrics were definitely the highlight for me. It's unlike anything they had written before, like you both said, it's poetic, more mature and the story telling is on point. The instrumentation is not as complex as Welcome to the black parade but perfectly conveys the emotion of the lyrics. The tempo change at "Will you welcome your extinction in the morning rays?" always hits me in the feels. They reached that next level with this, probably my favorite MCR song to date.
I've been a big fan of MCR since their start. I think you summed it up pretty good here. It's my favorite MCR song for sure, which I know is gonna be divisive with fans lmfao. The "he was there the day the towers fell" punched me in the gut the first time I heard it.

I was a junior in highschool when Three Cheers released and I couldn't get enough of it. I always say my favorite band has always come and gone. Changed over the years, but MCR has always been my second favorite. I'm so excited that I get to hear something new from them. Hot take, this is my favorite MCR song.
