Interesting footage viewed from above rather than on land. You’ll note that Red 10 was flying with them and buzzing about like a bee, it was filming the RA and hopefully this footage will be released at some stage after their US and Canadian tour. Its just a pity they can’t bring back the weather with them!
@@leilanikuuipo6004 Seeing the RAF practice gliding through the valleys is a hell of a spectacle in the UK, and its very common outside of cities. Always something that pops up every month when you least expect it.
I like the Red Arrows, very good team, one of the world's best. but I wish they would fly the Eurofighter Typhoon. If there are any Brits reading this, can you tell me why they don't?
3 reasons really: Cost, maintenance and logistics. These Hawk T1 trainers are very manoeuvrable but basic aircraft, easy to maintain and do not need a lot of logistics support when on tour. An A400M has accompanied the Reds all over USA and Canada with backup kit and spare maintainer crew. Typhoons need a lot more. There are two ground crews: The 'Blue Team' are the primary maintainers and go with the aircraft (in the back seats as you see here) on ferry flights like this and there is a backup crew that sets up ahead and packs up after each show the A400M leapfrogging as they go There is also the fact we are only just getting the full number of Typhoons from Eurofighter and have taken early aircraft out of storage as more are needed given the Typhoon has now take over GA and suppression roles from the retired Tornado as well as QRA and air fighter roles. They are very advanced aircraft and need a lot of backup and while they do go on long distance exercises like Red Flag or in the Baltic etc it is a better use of resource to have them used as operational kit rather than as a demonstration team. Having said that the RAF does operate a Typhoon demo team but it is basically for single aircraft demonstrations at air shows. Hope that helps
The Typhoon is a front line jet. Very expensive to maintain, full of costly kit which isnt required for this kind of job. The hawk is an extremely manouverable aircraft, perfect for the reds. No nonsense, analogue, less to go wrong, easy to maintain, single engine. The hawk is a great aircraft. Some of the reds jets are getting on for 40 years old and they're still going strong.
Lets not get into differences who is best both are excellent and i say that as an english bloke, what does upset me a little is that we the british once had the largest airforce and navy in the world thanks to cut backs we are only a shadow of what we once was, also we invented the harrier jump jet, what did we do hand it over to america where they made a more modern version which we are now buying for our new carriers, begs belief, but got to say proud of the reds at least we have not lost our skill.
Hello Jess This is what the Reds (Red Arrows) call The Big Battle Formation. There is no 'Missing Man'. A full nine ship (at last) with a tenth aircraft, probably taking video shots. Triplex 29 that’s an amazing name for it. Don’t get me wrong the reds are pretty spectacular to see flying over Los Angeles Too if I do say so myself. Very nice piece of flying. Thanks you RAF. Come back anytime. The beer's on me!

Nice show RAF. Thanks!
@Mosi Bora what you talking about? I'm from USA. I can appreciate other cultures putting on shows for us. We do the same for them also you know.
We get them nearly every year here at Prestwick Air show, they are amazing
@Mosi Bora Yeah...Prestwick is in Scotland so she's already over there.

Its dyed diesel fuel which is released and turns to smoke with the hot jet exhaust gases.
