Foolio says that he was sent to an alternative school in an opps neighborhood and got shot when he got off the school bus. He was 15 iirc. He said he even tried going back to school, but they didn't allow him back. (He was shot because he allegedly was involved in shooting someone, but he claims that he was getting ready for school and was shocked that someone would actually shoot him when he didn't kill anyone.)
It looks like the people around him that are doing the shootings don't care, tbh. I saw a vid that had a photo of each person he listed and it honestly made listening to this song even harder.

Sometimes it just comes down to some beef the gangs had from older generations. It’s fucked, because innocent people who have no involvement get caught up in the crossfire.

Problem is the young people aren't watching stuff like this until they need a lawyer, or worse they are never watching it because they got whacked because someone in some other part of town didn't like them.
One of my favorite movies is 'Boyz n the hood' It shows a really interesting perspective, and it really impacted me in a way I can't really describe. I'm not in the US but I was courting a lifestyle that might have ended the same way for me as it did the other guys in that movie. After watching it I changed track and left all that stuff behind.

This ain't some perplexing, confusing ass thing that nobody understands. We got sociologists who been studying this since forever and everybody who ever grew up in a situation like this can tell ya exactly what's happening if they lucky enough to grow up and look back.
Young kids with no hope and no future raised by parents who came up in the struggle themselves don't know how to handle things so they run on emotions and end up killing somebody over some petty bs and then it's game on with the back and forth murder beef that spins outta control til everybody is dead, locked up, or gave up on it cause they're scared or found something to live for. When I was a kid I wasn't sure I'd see 16, then 18, then by 20 I was sure I wouldn't see 25 (unless I was locked up), then as 30 started coming at me I realized I was doing a lot better than I thought, that I'd lost a lot but survived, even though I was in a cage at the time, at least it was a nic instead of an L. In the hood and poor areas all over life rarely has intrinsic value and til ya find it for yourself it's not a huge loss. How ya gonna tell a kid who never plans to see 20 and views the joint as a right of passage not to pop out and wack the fool who killed his cousin or the friend of the dude who killed his homie since grammer school? Ya can't! They got no reason to gaf, they don't see a future for themselves. It's a whole lotta reasons from capitalism to racism to imperialism to colonialism to white supremacy to classism to a lack of/mis guidance, and so on, and ain't no welfare program or ideology gonna change that til ya give this jits a reason to breathe. I am one of the very lucky ones who basically just didn't die and didn't go away for decades and got the chance to look back on it but it's far from rocket science. Life is so hopeless there's no reason not to take it or throw yours away.

The logic aspect isn't there when you grow up in a situation like that, you're socialized to be something "other" than a functioning member of society. There's a whole code of the street where their lives aren't based on whether or not they can climb the ladder and get rich, but instead whether they can gain the most respect from the people in their communities. Of course it's easy to say that everyone has the same opportunity to step up and get out, but you grew up in an entirely different world, with wildly different expectations and opportunities. It just isn't that simple.
