This has been said and I'm sure it will continue to be harped on but I do think this show has a YA slant and definitely shot for TV rather than something cinematic broken down into episodes. I'm into it but understand it might not be specifically made for me. The one thing I will not get passed is the chunky lightsabers. There's a bunch of articles popping out talking about "the advancements Disney is making to light these sabers on set and that's why they're chunky" and I'm over here holding all my perfectly proportioned, better lit, lightsaber I've owned for years 😂
oh that's interesting. I havent explored young adult as a theme to this show. Ill have to think on that one. It doesn't have much relatability, YET! Since this is the beginning of this story, there are still "holes" in the narrative that we as an audience need to be informed of. In this case, its hurting its reception in my opinion. One thing I didn't touch on in this review is its missing that Star Wars "Magic" and "Fun". Luke was discovering the vastness of the galaxy as we were. growing and learning. Osha has not done that. She's running from the mystery, not exploring it, and its not engaging. The set pieces feels so small and cramped, versus large and explorable (Mandalorian, & Andor). So "shot for TV analogy" is good here. As for the lightsabers... Ad insert "You can have Master Sol's saber at Disney Star Wars Galaxy Edge!" lol
I was really sad that Carrie Ann Moss was killed off. She seems like she has the right stoic energy to play a a jedi and I would have loved her to continue on. Unfortunately, from the trailers, I knew she was going to get merked immediately because they show Mae walking away from a downed Jedi in the same cantina.
Yes her presence would have been good. She brings so much star power and it felt like a waste to rid of her so soon. But good catch from the trailer. I missed that
I'm not so sure I like this show yet, but I'm going to keep watching of course. I'll be listening to all the reviews!
Appreciate the support!
