This was incredibly helpful, very much appreciate your time and expertise!!! I looked for hours before stumbling upon this video, and these instructions made is a breeze.
It's not specifically related to servo control, but my PDB has a led controller built in, so I was searching for phrases like pixhawk led control, pixhawk led strip, pixhawk navigation light control, etc. after a while, since i had the led controller on one of the aux channels i searched for pixhawk aux out, and your vid was top result. I think it was just poor searching on my part initially. I kept searching and getting lost in forum posts and pdf's when searching on google, and youtube.
That's interesting. So I added some of the things the aux outs could be used for in the description and in the tags. Thanks for your input on my output :-)
Complete and concise with no BS or rambling. Thank you very much for the time you took making this video, it was extremely helpful. Now I can set up my new three axis gimbal 👏👍😊 (edit, shared this to my Facebook Page, I hope you don't mind)
Great project and presentation How do you connect the pixhawk flight controller to the gas engine?? The PWM is used in between the GAS Engine throttle servo and the pixhawk
very useful article. I had been looking a way to use pass through RC channels on pixhawk to control my camera and gimbal using a single RC receiver. this is not described in ardupilot.org documentation. luckily I have a taranis set. the video has been very nicely presented. the complete process is very clear to implement.
Hi Dave, i've checked my Pixhawk with mission planner and RC(number of channel ) Function do not exits in Full parameters list , i only get Servo (number )Function....in this box only i get .... RC Pass thru =1..........i have to change but i don't know how and where...Thank for your help Philip
Another great video :) I should definitely consider trying mission planner and pixhawk, it looks absolutely amazing :) Thanks for sharing Dave and have a great sunday! Beware snowzilla ;)
+ABMNS PRODUCTION You should try it, but then I saw you got a Phantom. Surprise surprise. Well we got around 15 inches (381mm) of the white stuff. So far the news has never reported snow fall in cm or mm but that might change some day.
***** Yes, the Phantom is a christmas gift from my wife! But i want to rebuild my big copter and probably build also some planes (it's about time!) so i have to look around for something i never tested yet but which has a solid reputation for all these purposes and it looks like the pixhawk is the right tool :) I heard about your snowzilla issue in the news, hope you guys will be safe and enjoy the joy of snow :) Have a great sunday
+ABMNS PRODUCTION The PixHawk is great for multirotors and the APM for planes although you can switch it up if you want. Yeah, the snow is a wonderful experience :-)
+dmerc00 you bet. Thanks a lot. I struggled to make extra channels work and only your video helped me. No documentation is available on how to activate additional 9-16 channels on pixhawk. I was almost hopeless when came here and found an answer. Thanks again!
Cant get this to work on pixhawk been trying for many many hours...using frsky r-sxr and Devo12s with 4n1 module..i want to pass ch8 thru to any AUX pin so i can turn on/off led lights using a turnigy rx switch..i see ch8 in the sliders working fine it just wont pass it thru to the aux pin...Also there is no rc_function i guess it was replaced with servo_function? Also the pins on the pixhawk are different the signal pin is on bottom and ground on top ..voltage still in the center as usual
+FlyingMerf Glad you liked it. It was an eye opener for me. I thought the AUX outputs were useless until I discovered the pass-thru parameters in the mission planar. Makes me wonder what other good stuff I have been overlooking.
Hi dmerc00...i've just shown your video again....coool...but is it mandatory to power on Pixhawk with a Bec or is it possible to power Aux rail with a bypass from power module to get 5.3volts on this AUX to wire a servo...? thank's a lot, happy flights Philippe
Yes it is possible but check your documentation because there maybe a jumper you have to remove like JP1 on the APM. Or there may be no power to the rail at all to begin with.
I've been looking everywhere for a solution to power my landing gear or any kind of servo with the aux ports. I'm still having issues. Do you have to have a ubec to make it work? If I did have the Ubec(I just ordered one) how do I hook it into the battery pack? Do I solder it to the main pads where the battery leads hook in? I would love any help!
I usually solder the UBEC at the output from the PixHawk power module so that the current usage of the UBEC gets measured with the rest of the current.
I got 3dr solo that got a pi x hawk is it the same I want to build tarot 680 got bigger motor all that I like solo controller I think batter for camera gps bird Taranis is for race quads
Hey man. I tried to use all 14 channels doing what you teach but I couldn`t connect all the 13 servos because of the lack of space and the channel 13 and 14 doesn`t work.
It might have something to do with the receiver. I know my X4R couldn't squeeze in more than 7 channels on PPM without an upgrade. There wasn't enough time for all the pulses to get through. Timing is everything.
This was incredibly helpful, very much appreciate your time and expertise!!! I looked for hours before stumbling upon this video, and these instructions made is a breeze.
The subject is a hard thing to search for.
Maybe I could improve my tags for the video.
What phrases did you first use to search for it?

+Aussie's Multicopter Adventures Glad it's helpful and yes you may share.
just subscribed after watching your tutorial on how to setup Taranis for 6 flight modes using 3 way switch (support from Balochistan)
I have never seen wooden multicopter frames, but I like the idea! Maybe this is a demonstration frame?
Great project and presentation

+dmrec00 SBUS out has a use right now. It works as a way to get RSSI from X8R to Pixhawk.
+renoflash06 Interesting to know, thanks for the info.
+renoflash06 Thanks again, found info on it here:

dmerc00 It is a X8R US version. What upgrade should I do to make it work?
On the X4R it was a firmware update which required getting special programming cable. I saw some where on RCgroups.
