Thank you for this!! I have a partner (non married) in Canada atm and this visa seems to be right for me but the process has been nothing but confusing and making he hesitate. Your video helped me clear some of the noise!! Thank you soo much!
candidates have 10 days to accept the invitation and a further 20 days to submit their application along with supporting evidence, in total, 30 days but don’t think you have 30 days to complete your application because you do not, also, don’t leave it too late
Hi Jack, I've been watching some of your videos and paying close attention to really get to know what it takes to go through this process as I'm deeply interested in moving to Canada sooner or later. In one of the sections of this video though, you had mentioned that the canadian cv/resume is actually different from the one in the UK or Europe in general. Would you mind doing a video explaining the differences and giving some dos and don'ts in order to have a cv that matches the canadian standards!? That will help a lot. Thank you so much!
This video was super informative and so clear! I usually skip long videos but this one I watched all the way! ❤ Quick question,I applied to the pool yesterday and was invited to apply for the visa the next day. Shall I wait the 9 days before accepting as I’m still waiting for my police report? It won’t effect my status, right?
Hi Jack, The video has helped alot!! You might have the answers to some of my questions.. Me and my partner have been selected from the pool and now it is time to accept the invitation. We are thinking about going to canada for 2 months, Do you know if the visa is granted for 2 years, does that mean we could potentially go for 2 years, return back to the UK for 12 month and then go back to canada on the same visa? I am not sure because i heard the visa is only authorised for the amount of months you buy travel insurance for. So my concern is having to buy 2 years of insurance even tho we may only be in canada for a few months. Hope you can help! Thanks 😊
It will definitely only be valid for your insurance length. Don’t get an IEC and only go for two months as you’ll waste it and might not get another - it would run for two years then you’d have to reapply for a third year if you’re from the uk and want to work again in Canada
Hey Jack! Great video. Me and my partner are doing pretty much the exact same thing you have done in June :D Can i just ask what they asked you for at the border when you had to show your POE letter? I know it differs from person to person but would be good to hear :) Thanks!
Hey! That’s great. You will both love it. For me, I queued for like 4 hours to be asked for my passport and my POE letter at the border of Vancouver airport. My boyfriend stopped first in Calgary, and he got asked for his POE, proof of funds, his passport and insurance. It varies from where you go I think, and changes all the time. Best thing is to have all your needed stuff just in case
Thank you for the video - very informative! Did you and your partner take the cats with you? If so, which airline did you fly them with? I have two cats and considering moving to Canada 🙌🏻
Hello! Yes, we did! We flew them with Pet Air UK, I think it was. They organised picking the cats up, transport to Heathrow, and then a flight to Canada. I did another vid on this if you need more in depth info!
Hi Jack. I just got accepted what’s it like when entering the country do they ask for much? Is it a long process. Is it easier to have a job lined up before entering?
i had my biometrics screening last week but still not got my POE letter? i was wondering what was going to happen after the biometrics so if this is what happens after i wonder why ive not got my poe letter
Sometimes they can take a bit longer to process. I think at the moment there are protests and strikes going on with the staff, so applications may be delayed.
Hey, awesome video! Just a quick question, after you are issued your POE, how long is it valid for? Hypothetically, say it’s valid for 6 months, if you wait these 6 months before entering Canada does this eat into your 2 year visa? Thanks! Edit: never mind i rewatched the video 😂, you have 12 months to activate the POE
hey mate great video, just two things, what job did you manage to get out there and where is the best place to look for jobs that are paying very well as i can imagine Vancouver being expensive to rent , i have applied for the 2023 season and i am in the pool of candidates.. the other thing is i am not vaccinated, i am sure the rules have changed and they are allowing unvaccinated people but does that still apply with actually living and working out there..look forward to your reply..thanks!
Hey. I work in film & TV, so I found work there. I would def recommend getting work before coming if you can, or having a good bit saved up to tide you over for a bit. I found my job on Google Jobs, LinkedIn and Indeed. There's also the WorkBC website. As for not being vaccinated, I'm sure it will be fine, though I haven't experienced that. I know that both my jobs asked if I was vaccinated, but that was beginning of 2022, so people may not be asking now. And I'm not entirely sure if the second job asked for proof. I doubt it will impact being able to find somewhere to live either!
@@JackStrange thanks for the reply, funny enough i have got an invitation to apply, can you let me know what documents you provided for Acro (police certificate) etc the website is little confusing..thanks in advance
@@amannagi5495 oh gosh, I can’t remember now. I think it was a passport style photo. Can’t remember if there’s anything else. There will be info on the Canada gov website (I think!)
@@JackStrange hi jack, can you just outline the documents you had to provide for the work permit application - for my understanding is it just police certificate, passport copy, cv/resume, digital photo? If you can let me know exacts that would be great!
Awesome informative video, Can it really take years to get invited to the pool in some cases? Also what is the official website address in order to apply?
Really helpful video mate! Just wanted to ask though how long did it take your partner to get accepted? I’m looking to try apply when the next pool opens but may not enough time as I’m pretty close to 31
Not long at all. I think about 3/4 months after me! I recommend applying right when the next pool opens. It’s all luck, but my immigration officer told me the sooner you get in the more chance you have - we applied as soon as it opened and I got invited not even a week later!
@@JackStrange thanks mate, really appreciate the advice! Just had a question though, at the beginning of your video you said you applied the day it opened, did you get some sort of notification or did you check everyday? I’ve checked the canada website and it says just to keep a look out, other websites just say it’ll be December/January.
My partner got asked for proof of insurance. I didn't. Neither of us were asked for PCR, and I don't think that is a requirement now, but best to check gov website. If they still require the ArriveCan app make sure you have your details there.
Hello brother Can you tell me the difference btw IEC and Canada Working holidays both are 2 years. IN IEC we require a job or not for a 2-year work permit. Where we can get Police Character certificate and health insurance
I’m not sure the difference. IEC is the working holiday visa, and it’s 2 years for those in the common wealth, one year for those who aren’t I believe. Age limit of 31 I think. No job required on that visa. Depends where you located to get your police certificate, but if the UK through ACRO. Health insurance with true traveller.
Loved this 🥺 congratulations!! Super exciting x

Very well done Jack! I am sure this video will help everyone considering the move.

Through the Canadian gov IEC working holiday program
