    8 MONTH UPDATE 2/24/2023 - I've gotten a lot of comments below that people have had issues with this unit. I wanted to provide an update - today, I used it to jump start the red Ford Ranger shown in the video, and it had been sitting in the back of the cab since shortly after this video was published. It was fully charged at that time. 8 months later, without having plugged it in, it started the truck without issue. The truck battery was reading about 11.4V, just low enough that it wouldn't turn over. I'm not saying I recommend this unit based on the feedback from others, but I just wanted to provide this data point. YMMV!

    Yeah I’d say that’s a win. You can’t buy those features separately for that total price. On top of that it does it all reasonably well with good warranty and support. My only complaint is it doesn’t use 20v tool batteries.

    got to charge it once a month.
    I just wanted it for emergencies. I have AAA premium roadside service. A

    I’ve had mine for well over a year (almost 2 years) Between me and my son it gets used at least every two weeks. My son uses it for his moped, which loves to Drain batteries. He also is always putting air in the tires of that or his minibike. I’ve used it multiple times for either air in the tires mine or somebody else’s. It’s jumped countless cars trucks and SUVs and it’s been used several times while camping to run a 27 inch TV and charge phones.
    So needless to say, we have been pleased with the unit and its performance, that is up until recently. We live in South Florida so the hurricane is getting ready to send us some nasty weather. I went to charge the unit up just to be prepared and it won’t charge. It lasted approximately two years so I am happy with the results I did get out of it.

    I have this exact one and it sucks. Barrel jack was loose, opened it up to install the missing screw for it, some wires were pinched from factory. Internal battery didn’t have the advertised jump capacity. Aged battery from sitting on the homedepot shelf I guess. Inverter clicks off instantly even if you turn it on, plug in a cord and then turn on the item. I can’t even run a laptop charger to it on occasion without it going off randomly. A tiny 120V fan and a LED light bulb is all it’s good for. Compressor took ages to inflate a medium duty tire just 10 psi. (30 to 40 psi)
    I like Dewalt’s power tool line, but this thing is a genuine turd.

Not as fast as corded larger compressors but it’s good enough and beats finding a power source and running cords. Especially if you get a flat driving down the road. Nice review man👌

    You heat test isn't just about wattage, it is also about amperage. A heat gun even if the voltage isn't so high the average is probably exceeding what the device is for. Even regarding power stations you're going to typically need close to 2,000 watts that will also supply enough amperage to not trip so easily so you don't over excel the wattage.
    I would seriously be majority impressed if that device would have gotten up 500 watts. at a price of under $200 bucks! I believe for what this is, it does a good job. I'd be curious if you can just run your own cables directly to the battery and charge it from a solar controller?
    I did that with a Maxx and it does very well. Much faster charge at least when the sun is out! and it doesn't take 2 freaking days if I only used the adapter the Maxx comes with. Why these blasted things are this freaking slow is beyond me. I guess you have to save money someplace?

    • @PhillyFixed
      @PhillyFixed  8 месяцев назад

      I bet you could charge it with solar if you have the right barrel connector for the charge port and the charge voltage is reasonably within range of the oem wall charger.

    I bought a DEWALT DXAEPS14 today. Was very disappointed, first thing had the wrong service manual for a completely different model, not a big deal.. When looking to turn on the jump option, found out that your battery has to have some charge in it, the jumper WILL NOT WORK ON A COMPLETELY DEAD BATTERY.I had another one I got a few years ago and it had a switch to turn on the jump option. That one worked great that way. I also was able to use it with my winch. I called their service tech. Was told that all of the DeWalts were that way [needing power to activate the jumper option]. I work on vintage cars as a hobby and needed it to able to jump a car with a dead battery. This unit is worthless to me.

    • @PhillyFixed
      @PhillyFixed  6 месяцев назад +1

      I've not encountered a jump starter that will jump a vehicle with a completely dead battery. At a minimum you usually have to run a battery reconditioner on the battery first and then charge it for a while. Have you used jump starters that will do completely dead batteries?

    • @BadBetchStuntNnn
      @BadBetchStuntNnn 6 месяцев назад

      Have you tried starting a car thru a dead battery? My last dewalt worked great. All i had to do was to turn a switch on to power up the jumper. Would start a car thru a dead battery. The same DeWalt would work my winch.

    I own one. Bought it used for $50. It always jumps my car never fails. The tire inflator takes what seems like forever to inflate from dead flat to 35psi and if it doesn’t have a full charge, it might die before you get there. USB is never a problem. Lights never a problem. Never used the alternator charger. Never put anything more than hair clippers on the inverter and it did fine for that. It does take way too long to fully charge and it’ll come close to losing its charge in a month of non-use. It was worth $50 and I’ve had it almost a year. I wouldn’t replace it with a brand new one. I’d buy something else. It’s too damn heavy. Keep in mind, mine is probably right around 2 years old. I keep it charged in the vehicle by using a separate 750 watt 12volt outlet inverter. Which charges it fine as long as your driving but slow just sitting in idle. Hope this helps.
    Edit: added info and corrected some spelling.

      If you have any electrical skills so you do not to electrocute yourself. You can make your own cables and with a little modding and run them directly to the battery. Just beside you are using a proper controller that can either convert 120w AC into DC or maybe even using a solar panel with a controller that has 12 volt charging ability.

    If you buy one of these...be sure to test all the functions before the warranty runs out... Like anyone, I cycled through all the functions when it was new (the pump turns on and blows air). I made the mistake of not inflating a tire until I really needed to...which was 10 months after purchase... With no tire connected, pump turns on and blows air...but when connected to a tire with 20 PSI, it shows over 120 as soon as the pump turns on....and shuts down. So ultimately I have a barely used, like-new product that won't inflate a tire... Not what you want for a roadside emergency. Other functions worked fine...but I never needed to jump start anything...so not sure about that function. Good new, product functioned perfectly during power outages, running a CPAP machine all night without any problems! Will see what Home Depot and Baccus are willing to do for me to get me a working unit.

      Models that have an anti-spark feature can be connected directly to the battery. They don't actually complete a circuit until after they're connected and sense the correct polarity. Otherwise, you should always connect the ground lead to exposed metal on the vehicle away from the battery; car batteries can offgas and a spark could ignite the vapors (although in reality I've never heard of it happening).
