Adventure Island 3 (NES) Playthrough

- A playthrough of Hudson Soft's 1993 platformer for the NES, Adventure Island 3.
In this video, I play through the game twice in order to show all of the stages. The second game, beginning at 57:29, shows the A and B stages.
Adventure Island 3 was the last of the NES games in the series to be released outside of Japan, appearing on store shelves seventeen months after Adventure Island II ( • Adventure Island II (N... ) and four months after Super Adventure Island ( • Super Adventure Island... ) for the Super Nintendo.
Having twice saved Tina from the witch doctor and his followers, Master Higgins is attempting to spend some well-deserved quality time with his lady friend when an alien ship suddenly appears and abducts her. Tough luck, eh, Higgs?
This adventure plays out much like the previous one. It introduces a few new things over Adventure Island II - there's a new dinosaur friend, the ability to crouch, a boomerang weapon, and a surfing minigame - and the graphics take a few style cues from Wagyan Land 3, but Adventure Island 3 feels more like Adventure Island II fitted with an expansion pack than it does a original, standalone game.
Adventure Island 3 is still a very good game despite being a total rehash. The graphics and music are great, the controls are snappy, and it's a lot of fun to play. If you loved Adventure Island II and are looking for more of the same, you've found it! If you want something more original, though, the Japan-only fourth Famicom game might be more to your liking.

This is my favorite AI game. The second one is also pretty great
Adventure Island 3 is pretty much a carbon copy of the second game, but that's not a bad thing when the game is this good.
With the major difference of fruit count and you can have more than 9 lives

Thank you for another chapter of this great franchise! Third looked even more improved than second. But I don't know why, this one lost something and I cannot explain what. So the second still the best for me, probably because of my good memories about the second one too. Anyways great run and my appreciation for this upload!

Easily the best Adventure Island on the NES.
As a regular Adventure Island game on NES, or an Adventure Island game in general? Because there’s other Adventure Island games other than the NES Library, and two of them from the lineup has similar elements to Monster World.
I like 2 much more, it has a better difficulty level (3 hands out way too many powerups) and it has much better music (the new tracks in 3 are almost all bad besides Coastal Clash)
All 3 Adventure Island games on NES are equally impressive.

Great play through as always. I used to search for this game back in the day at flea markets, garage sales, and thrift stores. I could not find it and never personally heard of anyone who owned it. I’d say it is a much rarer game than people think.
Thanks. I had the same experience with it. The second one isn't that easy to come by, but I never came across the third when I was into collecting.
@@NintendoComplete Hi Alex! I actually never came across AI 2 in the wild either. It’s such a good game that the people who actually bought it probably kept it. The 3rd one came out late in the NES lifespan, but I’ve seen supposedly “rarer” games many times and never seen AI 3. Anyways, I know I often make the exact comment as my rarity comment above, but I actually think this was one of the hardest NES games to find in person. Thanks for all the Adventure Island and Wonder Boy videos, they bring back great memories - I look forward to new ones!

Neat, another great Adventure Island... just one more left on the Famicom, too. 2, 3 and 4 are all fun. Sometimes less is more, and in this case just doing 'almost' the same thing again was the right call.

Adventure island 4 fan translation next? I remember when i discovered it, i honestly thought it might have been a home brew since the series wasnt really known as a metroidvania type
It is quite good, and interestingly, it's the last Famicom game... so, no wonder it didn't come out in the West. Mid-1994 was just half a year before the Japanese release of Sega Saturn and PS1. Most Famicom games at that time had pretty bad sales, obviously.

What do you use to record your gameplay? I don't understand how you get these to be so high quality.
It's emulated, so there's no noise in the video signal like you'd see if it was recorded from an NES.
oh interesting so that little fairy that gave invulnerability was kind of the inspiration behind the Mask in Crash bandicoot. Then again I think the Star in Mario gave popularity to the idea of temp invulnerability

Does anyone know why you can't get the crystal sometimes in the bonus hidden rooms?
I had a shopping bag full of cartridges including this and gave them away for free...What a regret!
Um, in Adventure Islands 2 and 3, is there a way to determine which stage you go next, or is it all random?
In AI2, it depends on the egg you choose at the end of a level. In AI3, you have to find a hidden room in each stage to go to the alternate path.

Игра мне понравилась,я тоже её проходил,но никак не мог пройти последний уровень,сколько я жизней и динозавриков терял но потом как говорится: с горем пополам её наконец прошёл. Ещё мне понравилось как персонаж утонул в бонусной игре,просто бульк, и всё.
