from what i understand it was all about timing, he hit NE when he wasn't around and spent all his mana killing 2-4 wisps "while" NE was teching
so NE didn't have the option of blowing wisps on summoned units, and postponing NE tier 3 tech because he had to replace the lost wisps
It was very fast rush for raiders and fire lord, if Grub had 2 more raiders and 5 elementals he might have won the first attack, which looks like this strategy is all about, Colour saw Fire Lord and he made talons, I guess important is also the surprise effect for orc

in the grub game, colorful obviously had a lot of improvements since his loss.
for example not creeping in the begining and going for the mana burn on FS.
and going BM second hero and being ready for the attack with talons
During your game zero delay on his tech with no lumber harass. If thise talons where 20 seconds later you win that fight easyily. Looks like this strat is very specific timing attack for before talons. Also he only hero focused. He didnt unit focus at all.
Talons definitely changed the situation, but it was still pretty close for a while. Few adjustments and that could work

Fascinating how the response to the off-meta Hero choice of Firelord is another off-meta unit choice of Mass Talons to Faerie Fire and Cyclone.

Grubby, can you go master banshee into converting other race worker in 1v1, making their altar and getting their race hero? For example DK + TC auras or archmage or whatever you think is fun grubby:)))
He's done that. Look up banshee games with grubby it ahould.pop up
It’s a lot about timing and you can see by colorfuls change of strategy to talons that he prepared for this scenario.
So 1st colorful learned out of his recent hard loss
And 2nd the timing of grubs attacks wasn’t as perfect or damaging for colorful as it should have been
The thing is Infi’s strategy was not good, it’s very likely that he is trying out stuff. it’s just that his attack timing was so perfect that it completely threw Colorful off his tempo and he could never recover.
Maybe use this strat on some NE other than colorful? 40 damage per hit on 6 defense demon as lvl 2 fire lord seems pretty op.

I saw Grubby build a Tauren Totem for Walkers, but then he got very few -- I wonder if getting more of these would have worked to ocunter Colorful's switch to Talons?
Also would like to see Grubby tryhard as Night Elf doing both versions of Colorful's build (the Dryad/Bear version and the Talon version, depending upon what opponent does).

I'm guessing you've already noticed this but still pointing it out:
- your FL was almost 2 mins slower
- you were trying to hit FL lvl2 by the time Infi was already attacking the main
- you went to pure raiders in the end, while Infi had grunts to soak
How do you like adding a couple of SW's? They don't work in the context of a timing attack, but they'd be better in the game you played, and allow you to transition from grunts to taurens.
Such a back-and-forth thinking. Very interesting. Firelord has powerful focus fire power. I wonder. if there is any means for orc players to punish mass talons. more cheap bodies?
Grubs talking about how Colorful practices 1 punch 100 times, sees how Infi counters that 1 punch, then tries the same thing only to find Colorful has learned to alter his 1 punch to counter the counter, lol. But I love this counter-counter train, it moves games off meta which makes it more interesting imo. Can't wait to see what's next!
It looks like it works as just a straight forward hero killing strategy. Need more damaging units to make it work late game probably.
lost two (so 4) lava spawns to creeps, could have had a good powerspike there to delay tech
The talons prevented a critical win needed mid-game in order to gain momentum into the late game imo.
I mean, I guess it's easier to pivot from a creeping DH/bears into talons/BM than it is to pivot from a firelord/mass raiders.
What about Pitlord with cleave/howl + shadow hunter with healwave?
i felt the same way when i played wc3 (playing the SAME strat game after game) while after YEARS of doing it - yeah it would get boring but thank the
glory days of blizzard forums that actually had mods... and people who cried patches 1.14 to beginning... claiming "smurfs" were why they couldn't
get past lvl12.... when lvl10 was an easy 25-0 and you could do it in a day if you won games in the 10-15 min range like i did. for me on RoC, the longer
the game the worse. i liked to wrap it up fast. the only time long games worked is when i played random and would get newbelf or ud. ud with a mana
fountain = infinite nuke station like gnoll wood. or meta + starfall + tranquility? insane.
my biggest nerf came when they took away the altar/burrow trick with peons only needing 4 on peon line and they'd go very fast (it'd be like getting gold from 6.5-7 peons with 0 obstruction/delay. 5 on wood. you'd have fs/tc/6wyvs/+1 attk and psn by second day. on lost temple this was so beautiful. most people didn't
figure out the counter was to simple rush with t1 units until like 1.17-1.20 years after that build was nerfed.. and roc started doing FT strats like bm/grunt/raider.

Yes. Grubby is playing Reforged with Classic graphics enabled - this is a setting in game. He is also playing on the third party w3champions ladder which you can download for free. Or you can play bnet if you prefer. Bnet is more active, but w3c has tighter matchmaking.
This is reminiscent of 2008 gameplay. Isn’t this too much siege vs magic? Is mass air after tier1 unviable in this matchup?

Just a few hours ago we have a Showmatch in which Infi loses 0-5 against Colorful, and Focus loses 1-4 against Kaho. Something is telling me that there is a balance problem, but NE players would probably disagree
