Great review !! Im wondering if you can help, I’m a wedding photographer with a canon 5d mark iii, is it worth buying the ef 24-70mm even if I might change to canon mirrorless a few years down the line?
Hey Carys!!! Great question! I think if you have the budget, definitely go for the RF version. There’s typically a $500 difference but it looks like the RF is on sale. If you do get the EF version, but then buy a mirrorless camera, you’ll have to get an EF/RF adapter that’s about $100.
I do! Keep in mind, you''ll have to buy the EF\RF adapter like I did, but it will work! I believe the r10 has a crop sensor so you may experience a different look because of that. Hope you're out there killing it!
Great informative video. I must confess I am a diehard canon EOS user who is coming from a three year old 6d ii with an array of L lens and resisting the change to canon R models as I have spent a fortune over 12-15 years building up my gear starting with the canon 50d, 60d, 70d then 6d ii with the triangle of L lens that all stores recommend of you want all round ability to shoot… Trouble is now, which R camera would match the 6dii with the following lens: ( obviously, I will need an adapter…much to my annoyance! ). my 24-70mm f2.8 L mark i ( yes, mark one lens is still going strong), 24-105L f4 mark ii, although the barrel drops when i hold the lens downwards… 70-200mm f2.8 mark iii, Probably the one lens which has brought me closer than any other..! a 40mm f2.8 usm, It was a steal at 90 US dollars! And the nifty fifty usm f1.8. Everyone should own this even if the 85mm f1.8 is also as great for portraits… I was considering just selling the lot and starting again as Canon has flooded the market in a short space of time with some many R models. Confusion is their game! I shoot concerts and festivals ( in low light as well ) street shoots and sports on occasion. Good luck with your channel. You have me connected Brotha’. Tell me something good, please..!
Thanks for watching! It's always tough to upgrade to the next model. I started with a t7i. Every lens I had was made for the aps-c sensor. Even though I use the R6, my favorite body to this day is the EOS-R. In my opinion, it's the most solid, it never overheats, and its functionality makes sense for my line of work. I have two of them for my B and C cams on wedding day. Canon has since "replaced" that camera with newer models, but I didn't get them because they require a different battery. You've got an awesome bag of lenses. I just got the RF 35mm 1.8. I'm going to do a review on that soon!
That’s a great question! From my experience, it’s very efficient. I shoot eye af on most of my RUclips videos and vlogs and it catches my eye very quickly. It’s almost to the point where I don’t worry about it and am surprised if it doesn’t do a good job.
@@thealivelife Thanks... That was my only concern. I find the difference between the ef and rf version is not enough to purchase the rf anytime soon, the lens ibis would be a plus, but the r6 already has that so I'm not too worried. Thanks for the reply.
Excellent Video! I recently picked up a Sigma 24mm 1.4, but... I want a lens with more range. Im wondering if I should have purchased the 24-70mm instead, 🤔 #RobbArmstrong
@@thealivelifeI had the 20mm art f1.4 version and it is exceptionally bright. But is way too heavy to be carrying around with other lens. I sold it for my L lens… But the 24 is also a great lens,, no doubt…
This video was super well made and very informative! Love to see the growth of your channel and I’m always here for the continued support!!
Thanks brother! Those are very encouraging words!
All the best to you and your channel!
Thank you so much!

Amen to that! It has gotten me through many shoots.

Yes! Let me know what you think. I've gotten more than my money's worth out of it!
Thank you for the input
Hell yes. R6 + 24-70 2.8 is my setup of choice as well.

I have a r10 do you think they will pair well

Great lens
It is! You can capture just about anything with it!

Yours doesn't make noises when focusing? I can't use mine coz it's noise like crazy and then it's all in video!
Not my 24-70 but my 50 does 😩 I almost always use a DJI mic so I can get the audio away from the camera.
Gotta get me one of those 📸
Bro, it’s so good! One of my best investments yet! 🙌🏾
How is the eye af with this lens and the canon adapter?

@@lonesniper8684 I agree! I won’t buy the rf version of the big lenses until it makes sense financially. For now, I just rent them. So much cheaper 😂
😅l have a number of different lenses, but I use this same combination of camera and lens for the majority of my shooting.
That’s awesome! I feel like I could get just about anything I need with this combo.
Implicit but unstated is for use in full frame not APS-C.
Great point! This is for a full frame camera.
Does this lens have a constant aperture?
Great question! It does! You can shoot f2.8 at every focal length or increase the aperture as needed.

That’s awesome! You’re going to kill it in low light. What type of content do you normally shoot?
