yall keep forgetting that the line isn't vertical and therefore the actual altitude is 1000sin(theta) meters, theta being angle of string to ground. So it's probably less than 1000/4422
@@mumujibirb would they also have to account for the weight of the string causing it to dip in the center? Would the dip affect the theta angle and altitude calculation?
If you want to stabilize the kite and fly an higher heights . Attach three long tails to it, two tails on the left and right wings and one long tail in the middle. The middle tail has to be the longest while the right and left wing’s tails have to be same length. I used to build kites when i was young and that’s how I learned why it’s important to have three tails instead of only one in the middle.
no. a well made kite dont need tails that create drag. fly well made deltas, french military kites work well. i also use thin strong line that has less drag.
@@brucekeck1351 No, it doesn't make drag. It stabilizes the kite and lets it fly higher. The tail is light. I created tons of these kites and flew them before.

In India it's common to fly kites for 1km height we also have kite festival and fighter kites that attack and cut enemy kites coming in our area(like fighter jets battling each other in war) and it continues for 2 days straight we also have competition in which winners get medals.
As a Vietnamese, It is too common to fly a kite higher than 1km. in my hometown they can make flute kites with a wingspan of several meters, made of bamboo and parachute cloth, which can be replaced with nylon. And with such a structure, it will be able to withstand the wind when going up high. and I'm sure the kite like in the video can't fly higher because it's not made to fly too high, instead of flying higher it will get farther away.
Me and my brother had a kite up roughly this high when we were younger, we used 4 huge spools of 50lb fishing line rolled up on a giant hand spool we had. Had no drill though, had to wind it back up by hand afterwards, and it took hours and hours to do so, had to switch back and forth for hours.
I did this, but only used the super strong and long kite string you could find on the giant spools in the 80s Did it multiple times out in the county and left it aloft for days It took a few days to fully lower it. I lived out on a farm so I tied it to a fence post and left it in the upper wind stream almost a week. Top childhood experience right there. This video brought back all the warm fuzzy memories of that.
Did something like this in my mid teens. Flew a kite from our yard on a couple of 300yard spools of fishing line whilst in a populated part of town. I had the spools on a Bic pen and had leather gloves on to protect my hands from the friction. I would let out some line and slow down the feed rate to let the kite gain altitude then start over again. I could barely make out the kite in the sky (it was one of those cheap bat type of kites maybe 2 ft wide at most) At one point as I attempted to slow the feed rate the line snapped. I never recovered the kite. A few days later a friend of mine found some fishing line on the local golf course which was just behind his back yard. He attempted to retrieve it as it seemed to be long but had to give it up because it seemed there was no end to it. It turned out to be from my kite which had drifted close to 3km over a body of water before crashing on land near the golf course.
When I was a kid in the 80s I did this without a camera. I had it so high up that I was able to keep in the upper wind current for close to a week until I started to slowly manually bring it back. I brought it back down over a period of days. It was a Chinese long tail kite. One of my best childhood experiences. ❤️ I did this probably about 2 more times, the last time I cut the string and let her go😢
I'm from India...in India flying kites is a tradition ...so everyone everywhere flies kite including me...i have i have flown my kite more longer than in this video ... morning i flown it and i landed it in next day ...yes it was awesome.but ur kites are different than ours...we tie a thread to kites with our hands called as soothra.
But except not with weight on it like a big camera and a small camera and also the mount for the two cameras. The kites Induan kids fly won't even fly a meter high with the same weight the kite in the video did. And also because the ropes/threads are not measured by Indian kids or Indusn kites in general, we overestimate the height covered by the kite because its calculated visually without any measuring tools/equipments. We think the kites flew at least a kilometer far but in reality if cdlculated properly it won't even be half a kilometer i.e 500 metres. So stop bluffing and being falsely proud of something that doesn't happen in India.
I remember in the 1960's when I was a boy we used to fly kites to 1500m. There were no video cameras back then but then again there were also none of the distractions that kids have today, so kite flying was very popular. Most people made their own kites.

changing the angle that the kite meets the string might get it into a little less lift mode. also you could get a bigger cross member or even just get a spare one so you can double up on that tension.
That was good and brought back many memories. As a young child we built a box kite with my father and flew I so high it was out of sight. My Dad, much to my chagrin decided he didn't want to wind it back in so we just let it go. Not sure how high it was but literally out sight to the human eye. A box kite is much more stable and can take the high winds. Ours did at least. I would love to see another attempt possibly using a box kite. As Always, May God Bless you and yours! 😇

I know a way that will work 1000% in the part of the hospital myth which is exactly in the center tie a very long cloth over it like a bandage it will help to take it very high . you can elevate the kite as far as it is possible.
Awesome. I would suggest using a 360 camera to improve replay stability. 360 cameras can lock the horizon and heading for much better visuals... although weight will be an issue
There are several different types of box kites that are by design more stable than a delta style. they create more lift, and therefore require a stronger line such as Spectra. I'll be watching for the next flight.
if you visit Indonesia (especially Java) you will find many kite pilots with a height of 400 meters with a drag of more than 30kg and even with such a height and drag they fly/lower without using special tools. only with hands and the cohesiveness of friends
As an INDIAN 1000m in kite flying means one reel and it is Coman in India to fly with one reel and we also cut other kites at that same time with Many technics 😅
Interesting, personally I would say that our kite is the wrong design type for the high flight level. I personally flew a Box Kite to 400m about 35 years ago. I would say that you should use a box kite design for a more stable flight. My kite was shop bought and also use carbon fibre rods for its rigidity.

next time have 2 sets of gloves for emergency line grab, a tight fitting set of mules[brand name stateside, made from a very durable leather] and a good new pair of welding gloves, wear the mules inside the welding gloves it may be the only thing saving fingers in an accident. if rope that thin is playing out at speed and you grab it with those thin rubber coated gloves it could take a finger off all the way to the armpit, it may sound like a joke but thin rope moving at speed is a SAW and will cut off even BONE if given the chance. DO NOT GIVE IT THE CHANCE
Yeah you don’t do 10KM. The world record is only 4000m. That’s at the cruising altitude of commercial airlines. You absolutely are not flying a kite anywhere near that at 33,000ft from MGL.
Definitely a tail would help stabilize the kite. I'm about to fly a standard kite with a 20' tail using 10 rolls of 100lb fluorescent string. I like your idea of a winding system, and will put something like that together tonight! Good job guys!
Very interesting, very interesting. If you knew there were no wires around, you should use The Wire and then you could have captured the electricity that comes down. Several 1000 V run run it to a Ignition coil. And I'll drop the voltage down some usable voltage which you could charge batteries with the other interesting thing would have been to be able to use your drill. To generate electricity. Generate electricity as it pulled up and then to somehow pitched down the kite.So it would descend and you could wind it up without using any real energy excellent video

@VITINFFSX verdade nem fiquei impressionado. pra falar a real me impressionei mais pela linha esquisita que ele ta usando do que pela distancia.
exatamente
Don't know about other places, but you need special permission to exceed....
UK - 60m
US - 46m (150 feet) (special rules require pennant/streamer at 50ft intervals)
AU - 122m (400 feet)

I know a way that will work 1000% in the part of the hospital myth which is exactly in the center tie a very long cloth over it like a bandage it will help to take it very high . you can elevate the kite as far as it is possible.
Awesome. I would suggest using a 360 camera to improve replay stability. 360 cameras can lock the horizon and heading for much better visuals... although weight will be an issue
next video: "we fly a kite to outer space"
There are several different types of box kites that are by design more stable than a delta style. they create more lift, and therefore require a stronger line such as Spectra. I'll be watching for the next flight.
1: that's not a screwdriver, it's a drill.
2: that's not an eagle, it's a crane.
3: that was awesome.
Nice! Use fishing nylon - Longer length and has high tension strength. What about a mini version of a paraglider?
I used to fly kites using a fishing rod and a deep sea reel which made it much easier to control and bring back down.
I did the same thing with multiple spools added
Smart lad.
if you visit Indonesia (especially Java) you will find many kite pilots with a height of 400 meters with a drag of more than 30kg and even with such a height and drag they fly/lower without using special tools. only with hands and the cohesiveness of friends
Real
Awesome. Wet the kite on Red bull.
hahaha that's a good one!
Hahaha is that high in you? Lol funny it's like a child play😂😂🎉🎉..
Mantap jiwa kawan ku 👍
Sukses selalu buat channel nya
Indonesia menyimak karyanya
Try from a mountain
Thats a badass idea
In Australia we are only allowed to fly 122 metres and 4 km away from an airfield. You're lucky to fly it so high where you are.
Like to know about the reason behind it
In australia the heve been flying over 4 km , somewhere in the outback where no planes fly ....... look on RUclips
@@marcellavandekerkhof1500 will do
Came to india man normal string lenghtg here for kite is 5000meter and also it goes above
As an INDIAN 1000m in kite flying means one reel and it is Coman in India to fly with one reel and we also cut other kites at that same time with Many technics 😅
Same
I’m stressed watching this video. 😂
Interesting, personally I would say that our kite is the wrong design type for the high flight level. I personally flew a Box Kite to 400m about 35 years ago. I would say that you should use a box kite design for a more stable flight. My kite was shop bought and also use carbon fibre rods for its rigidity.
dude called a crane an eagle lmao
For real. We all know it's an ostrich
News the next day: we shot down an UFO with a fighter jet.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Brasileiros vendo isso voar 😂😂😂 e passa na mão 😂😂😂
😮 I could not believe my eyes. In my school we have an activity to make and fly a kite in school itself. I wish I could fly that high (Like in the video).Hats off to you Mr.
Have you ever seen an eagle before?
Lmao right XD
Indians watching this video😊😂😂
Mekus mekus insan
I swear dude 😂
Seriously I was like going to comment - come to India. I did this in 1998 when I was 10 year! Twice the length ! Lol 😅
Hahaha tornado yan insan@@jay9z3r02
Nice work bro 😊@@Rishikumar360
next time have 2 sets of gloves for emergency line grab, a tight fitting set of mules[brand name stateside, made from a very durable leather] and a good new pair of welding gloves, wear the mules inside the welding gloves it may be the only thing saving fingers in an accident. if rope that thin is playing out at speed and you grab it with those thin rubber coated gloves it could take a finger off all the way to the armpit, it may sound like a joke but thin rope moving at speed is a SAW and will cut off even BONE if given the chance. DO NOT GIVE IT THE CHANCE

Elon musk waving 👋🏻 to the kite was hilarious 🤣
I love flying kites, here in Brazil it's a game for all ages
9:05 Come to Afghanistan and see how casually we do 10KM 😂
Yeah you don’t do 10KM. The world record is only 4000m. That’s at the cruising altitude of commercial airlines. You absolutely are not flying a kite anywhere near that at 33,000ft from MGL.
It's normal in India

Kite flying still amazed people today. Ppl discovered a long time ago. Still a wonder how far it goes.
Talk about "hanging on by a thread!" 😂
SL KITES TOUCK SPACE😂
Wow kite beautiful. Clip awesome 👍
The thumbnail really gives a good role for me to watch the video.
Definitely a tail would help stabilize the kite. I'm about to fly a standard kite with a 20' tail using 10 rolls of 100lb fluorescent string. I like your idea of a winding system, and will put something like that together tonight! Good job guys!
Mantap. Perdana lihat layangan tinggi mecapai 300 meter. ❤
Gotta take permission from the aviation! And here hold the Guinness world records
Great kite boss, nice to meet you from East Java, Indonesia
It was not in a public place. -9999 social credits for that
The most surprising part about this amazing video is Elon Musk was there, and the launch site wasn't completely destroyed!
bro come to india we will show how indians fly kites🙏
For a more stable kite, try a Coby (or Colby) Boxkite. Large versions of it were used to lift people to observe battlefields.
Aoa, I'm Kite Expert, I flew more than 2000. Meters. I like you video...
Indians be like, we do it every year
Come to gujrat 😁😁
So fun thanks for the video 😊🎉 📸 🌋
Not really into kites but this fascinated me 😂
