    When I finally got these in the mail I was surprised by the fov. It's not that small! I come from the ev800d's which has a massive fov of like 120. I'll tell you this the screen is beautiful, the colors are punchy and it's very detailed. They also changed the face pad that ships with it so the fov is better now stock.

    • @smoke4131
      @smoke4131 4 года назад +2

      So you're saying it's better than ev800d ?
      I'll be building my first quad and need good goggles. I've seen a youtube video where he cut magnification glass made of acrylic sheet to increase FOV (didn't record the closeup). I have myopia of more than -5 dioptre an I'm worried if it would work on me.

      @@smoke4131 I typed out a big message but I realize there is just too much to say to put into a comment maybe I should just make a video comparison. But TBH the EV800D is better, IDK if thats what you wanted to hear or not but really, just get the EV800D you're not going to regret it. It's cheaper and better in every single way except convince. Because the 800d's kinda hang on your face. While changing batteries I have to take them off my face and set them down but with the ev100 I can just leave it on and rest them on my forehead. except

    And 6 years later I just bought a pair of these as an alternative to using a 5" monitor. Still the same as reviewed but it put my fear of vertigo to rest. Tried the Hawkeye reflector box goggles and ran into lack of eye flexibility causing a near instant headache. The small field of view is my only complaint. Makes me inclined to upgrade to the Walksnail Avatar goggles and VTX when I can justify the cost.

    As my first Fatshark style set of goggles I'm very impressed and am really looking forward to investing in a more expensive set later on. The best feature I've found is the adjustable focal length that they added in addition to the regular IPD adjustment sliders. With a few clicks I can get the picture super sharp, way sharper then the VR D2's I've been using. I really hope to see this feature on more goggles in the future. It definitely helps to push the googles closer to your eyeballs or modify the foam as Albert did, as the edges of the screen can be cut off from view. I also find that wearing the head strap a bit higher up on the back of my head also helps to keep the image centered and in total view. For the $92 I paid for the set, its been definitely worth it so far.

    You are about 100% on point on these. The vast majority of the negative comments are from mostly 2 groups of people. Group one has NEVER flown with these goggle. Group 2 has dumped a ton of money into fatsharks and are hooked, which is fine. Everyone doesn't have or want to dump 300-500 into goggles to play around with. Had a high-end fatshark guy try on a pair of these today at our field and was pleasantly surprised - no, in no way a fatshark killer but he liked them. I have an old set of teleporters and these a definitely better at half the price I paid at the time. These are $100 right now at Banggood, a total deal.

    Thank you, I just bought these today after watching way too many videos on all the options. I am new to the sport and have yet to even fly for the first time, so seeing this reaffirmed my decision to try these cheap for the first few months. Then if I am still enjoying I will commit to the higher end big time. I saw these on Banggood today for £59!!!!! so it was a no brainer but will certainly be adding the DVR as you show. Thank you for your time in putting all this information out there.

      @@AlbertKimTV Nice touch Albert, four years after the review you're staying in touch with the product. I purchased the EV100 on a special and just got around to playing with them, I spent less for the EV100 goggles then the lens for my DJI Goggles RE which turned into a huge pet rock. JB's review, I unsubscribed (stopped payments) after watching that meltdown, his lack of basic electronics and radio knowledge is unbelievable. It is not that hard to get a Ham Radio License and Remote Pilot Certificate..

    So I got my delivered Friday. Got to fly with them Sunday. My previous goggle were box style and I've never had the opportunity to try FatSharks or similar styled goggles. First thing I noticed was how small the screens were. Once I got flying though I didn't notice it as much. I was able to fly better with these than the box style. I can totally see these goggles not being for everyone due to face size or eye spacing. For me these are usable and better than the box style.

    I am still waiting for my €87 pair to ship. I was a little alarmed by some of the click batey titles on RUclips. But most boil down to "if your replacing or looking for alternatives to €400+ Fatsharks then they are junk" "If these are your first set of FPV goggle they are great". I have never owned anything FPV (just getting into it) so i think they are a good choice. Delivery, test and use may change that opinion though.

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  7 лет назад

    • @circleofowls
      @circleofowls 7 лет назад

      My only experience with a Fatshart is a Dominator V3 with a very average FPV camera while my EV100's I've so far only used on my Runcam Split so it's definitely not an even comparison but so far I'm very happy with my EV100 over my friends Dominator V3. Looking at the RCGroup's comparison that you posted at 6:45 or so, while the EV100's have a slightly narrower width, the height is much larger than the Dominator V3 and it appears that the actual area of the screen is larger on the EV100. For me, it'd take an HD2 or HD3 sized screen to really be worth the cost of upgrading over the EV100s.

    Very helpful review. I had a set on order at the anniversary price with an additional 12% off coupon so $88, but they were back ordered. This morning I saw GearBest had the aomway commanders for $300. I bailed on the ev100 and went for the aomway. Still not sure if it was a good choice, but now I feel either way would be fine, and both are a good value.

      I'm sure I'll like the Commanders, and I probably would have been okay with the EV100's too. The ev100 do have a bunch of "nice to have" features including USB charging, super light weight, and adjustable focus in addition to the crazy low price. But in the end I'd like this purchase to be the last goggle related purchase for a while, and I haven't seen any reviews that say the EV100's are better than the more expensive Commanders or high end Fat Sharks.

    I did a mod on some old 640x480 goggles with some ski goggles. The lenses on that had to be nearly touching your eyelashes to avoid edge distortion because of the shape of the lens. You might be able to move the individual video modules back in the goggle closer to your eyes for a bigger fov..

You just tell me what your opinion unlike some reviewers that try to compare it with very high price pairs. One of them even told me to buy box goggle. Oh yes, if I want a box in my face, I could had one or two already.

    Been using the EV100's since they came out. Think your review is accurate, except the reliability is an issue. After a years good use the Goggle's began to freeze, often permanently until unplugged n re stated. This happens so much now I can not use them safely, sometimes they freeze in just one eye, then have to close that eye to prevent confusion. I replaced a filter capacitor inside, this helped but the function soon degraded more. I'm pretty lucky I've not lost drones as a result. My opinion is that they are worth getting for occasional use, but if like me you use them regularly, maybe save up more money and get better, after all the Goggle's are your eyes , can you afford to go blind while flying ? Maybe I'm just unlucky, but considering I have decent elec knowledge, it's simple as this, to a high degree you get what you pay for 🚀

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  5 лет назад +2

      I always tell people to save up as much as they can and spend the most money on the goggles if they can. The cheaper options are really only there for those who just can't afford to spend more money.

    Try the Fatshark Foam on them. It isn’t the same size but you can make it fit just fine. I think I didn’t notice the size difference as much as some because I fly 4x3 anyway, even on the Commanders. Agree on the sharpness, those dials make a HUGE difference. I am a -3 on my glasses so neither the -2 or -4 diopters are great. But I can get just a perfect picture in these.

    As you said - it's very subjective. Like buying shoes.
    Good point that you can use lens adjustment AND diopters with this mod you did.
    That's a difference between box goggles and normal goggles (near vs. farsightedness...)
    and the thing that you have to look almost crosseyed on boxgoggles...
    It's been a long time since I invested in my DomHDs (the first HDs that came out years ago). I modded them with faceplate and div RX now - and they are still almost perfect. but the pricetag hurts.
    Amazing that they're still that expensive - 500$....

      Hi Mario. I don't mind other reviewers disagreeing with my point of view. I just don't like to tell people what they should or shouldn't buy because what might be great for me might be terrible for others and vice versa. Because goggles are so subjective and personal I try to keep things open-ended so people can come to their own conclusions based on different perspectives. I'm not sure why these goggles have become such a touchy subject for us reviewers... It really shouldn't be that way, you know?

      Kim Good words!! It boils down to EVERYONES OWN OPINION, BUT that being said just be honest is my deal.....tell it like it is... the way I look at it is "Would YOU...YOURSELF use this product?" Not how they compare to something in the same catagory but five or six times the cost....as where unless you simply CAN'T HANDLE box style goggles I think you are missing out if you do not try some of the best of them before some crap monitor on each eye just because they are made "sort of" like what everyone uses!!! They may "look" like the real deal to some degree but come now..... Both the Eachine Goggles Two and the VR D2 Pro's I would TOTALLY recommend for one's first set over thes ev100's without a doubt...then upgrade from there as I did for I too wanted to know if the smaller monitor on each eyeball is that much better than the bucket on your head haha and to some degree and protability and stuff yes my Aomways are the best I have tried and will be until I may try the fats before I DARE send them five huvdred bucks for ONLY the goggles then spend another $200 on top of that for them to work.... Just my view/? THX!!- Turbo,

    There is company in Germany that makes custom lenses based on you prescription for FS. I have a set custom made for me and they work good. If somebody is interested I can look up the company. My recommendation is not to mess with optics as our eyes are able to adjust to very bad vision situations, however that is not healthy.

  • @TheMadmacs
    @TheMadmacs 7 лет назад +1

    am i right in thinking that fatshark optics are basically a solid cube of glass? i vaguely recall seeing teardown. anyway good well thought out review, good info for noobs and even semi noobs going for their first visor type of goggle... is it my imagination or is there an eachine bashing program underway... seems like a lot of youtubers are kinda gettin into bashing products by eachine to the point of blatantly saying dont buy this, when its a halfway decent product, especially for a beginner. maybe its unconscious because they see small companies being outsold massively by eachine... to that point i would suggest those companies didnt lose a sale at all, because they are too expensive for most people to dabble with, you need some kinda commitment to buy fatsharks or 100 dollar frames, eachine has made this hobby accessible ''just'' to people who don't have more than 100 bucks a month to throw at a hobby. somebody should make a video based on that, well maybe 150,,, heres what to buy now if you only have 150bucks a month to spend... the quickest way into the sky on that budget is A' wizard 220.. plus two batteries... month 3 x box goggles for freestylin or x goggles for racing only... month4 upgrade x plus 3 batteries and a charger... even if this was my only hobby i couldnt bring myself to buy fatsharks...i'm not even sure they would suit my eyes or brain, even with box goggles and 80degree fov i still sometimes feel like i'm flying a plane from 20 feet behind the cockpit windows... so, i still suspect fatshark style is purely for racing until they get some 80degree fov goggles i can't really seriously consider paying that much.

    • @AlbertKimTV
      @AlbertKimTV  7 лет назад +4

      The reason for the bashing is BIAS. This bias is based on a skewed perspective. They're flown on $500 goggles and KNOW what an awesome set of goggles is like. They fly a $100 pair of goggles and are disappointed. It's that simple. The $100 goggles is NOT as good as the $500 goggles, we get that. That is to be expected. I've explained my opinion in full detail in the video so I'm not gonna rehash it here, but I think for the money, this is worth considering. It's definitely not for everybody, but to tell everyone that is wrong for everyone is an opinion that is worthless IMO.

    This is really an interesting video for me. I have flown plenty on Lign of Sight and a little using a nice Black Pearl monitor which I love. I have been for a long time thinking about geting goggles, I tried some fatshark v2 from a friend, and I wasnt particularly impressed back then... Now, for this price, I got them together with the DVR module, I cant wait to give them a try. There seems to be a little differences from this version, to what I got, on mine, my nose (I'm a nosy guy) was really hurting and I had to cut /sand the nose area a bit. The foam I have on mine, it is soft all the way, its not different layers.

      So your advice to my friend who can't afford to spend the extra $$$ on Fatsharks is to just wait, don't fly until he can afford to spend the money? There are a lot of people who can't afford the luxury of the fatshark price tag. The EV100's are a viable option for those folks. True, these are NOT as good as fatsharks. In much the same way a Ford is NOT as good as a BMW. But what you're saying is that those who can't afford a BMW should not be allowed to drive at all. Seems a bit harsh I think.

      Strongly agree. I'll never spend $450 on goggles, I have too many other things that I'd rather do and better things to spend money on. I like my EV800's, they're very immersive and are among the smallest of the "box" style goggles. I have an EV100 on the way as well, hopefully the convenient size and focal adjustments will make up for the small image, if not I'll trade up to the EV800D and be happy that there is finally some competition in this market.

      I agree with you!!! i Can/Have the $ to spend on FS but i have much better and more important thing to spend my $ on. Mine well be shipping out he 30th. I have only used box goggles. so hopefully these will fit my face and i can get them to focus( i have good eyesight). But if i cant get them to work or just dont like them at all, like some people only fly with box, then im only out 100$ not 400+$. Thanks Albert for the great review!!

      Albert Kim Is that your opinion BMW is better than Ford? BMWs are in the shop just as much if not MORE than Fords (at a higher expense I might add). A BMW is for show.....for other people. A Ford truck has a heck of a lot more value than EVERY BMW unless you have something you need to prove to others. Because something is more expensive doesn't automatically make it a better product.

    I won't say the ev100s are good, but everyone should forget about fatshark or any other 350-600$ goggles when analyzing the ones from eachine...
    Thats like saying : wow Dacia is shit, Mercedes is much better.

    Good honest review and nice explanation bro. Unlike the many so called "RUclips celebrities" who sometimes doesn't understand not willing to spare a thought for the many out there who are genuinely keen in this hobby but unfortunately don't have spare pocket funds to feed that shark which is already fat. I too hear there will be a few more goggles out soon.

      Not to mention a lot of RUclips celebrities don't even pay for their gear. The manufacturers just send them gear for free to review and keep.

    How can you guys compare Eachine EV100 to FS HD3? It's like comparing Renault Clio to Mercedes S-class ... Not everyone has to drive a Merc... I ordered mine as I've flown with VRD2 for airplane so far - but they are not that good for quad racing (too much eye jumping).

    Why people are so obsessed with fatshark style goggles? Box goggles is best for immersion

  • @mort7987

    You can't look at 100$ goggles with a 500$ attitude. If you've only flown fatsharks and religiously loved them all your career obviously you're gonna think a cheaper model for beginners is shit.

    If there are cons then obviously it means somrthing is wrong with them.... if the only con u have on goggles is the price then you know it's worth it. People are hyping these goggles too much and it is funny how you compare it to fatsharks. Why woukd eachine go out of their way and create something for a profit of a dollar. I mean obviously fatshark goggles make the company a good profit but it still isn't like it costs 100 dollars to make the goggles and then they triple the price or more to make their share.... common people

      A lot of folks can't afford or justify it (if they can afford) paying over $500 for a set of goggles for what is nothing more than a toy.
