lifelong resident of Hawaii here.... Mahalo for your video! Your respect and understanding of the Aloha Spirit was so spot on, it almost made me emotional. I think you could be considered a 'Kamaaina', rather than a 'malihini'.... Growing up, I spent many summers on Kauai, but have lived/worked on O'ahu my entire life... about coffee grown in Hawaii: most of the coffee is actually grown on Kauai.... Hawaii also has world-class chocolate, vanilla, nutmeg and honey....

Mahalo , there’s lots of free stuff to do in Oahu. 1- Sharks cove in North Shore. 2- MANOA falls hike 15 min from Waikiki. 3- Secret beach in Ko Olina 1st cove. 4- Mali pill box hike past Ko Olina. 5- food trucks everywhere go to the end of the Hilton rainbow tower and go to the parking lot ahead. 🏝😎❤️

Manoa falls was dry last week. I’m so glad by chance read a Google maps review and people were mad it was dry 😂! Hopefully next trip it will be flowing 👍🏼

Piece of advice, never buy Kona coffee from ABC store. Get it from their Costco or Walmart, you’ll be surprised how much cheaper it is. I bring back loads of it when I go there every spring.

    Here's some things you missed.
    1) 8-10 days after a FULL MOON the Box Jellyfish comes in
    2) There's only 1 Diamond Head; but there's similar places like Hanauma Bay, I know a similar place that is FREE.
    3) I can drive for your fans, ($100 per 10 hour day includes gas) go to places where parking is tight or expensive. I think most places charge for parking, including Hotels. I've seen 1 hotel charge $39 per day. I know recently Pali Lookout charges for parking. Go to Downtown, Parking Lots and parking meters.
    4) Tourist don't have to worry about their car being broken into. Pearl Harbor at 1 point had a lot of break ins.
    5) Can do ghost hunts. Can drop them off at the Pali (Cannot park at night)
    6) Can be a body guard (if they no cause trouble)
    7) While waiting from a hike, I can do some grocery shopping.
    8) If you go to neighbor Islands, the rooms are bigger and cheaper. My wife has Timeshare, so some has washer/dryer.

Just came from Wakiki Oahu this weekend. And the beach is just as bad Memorial day at a LA Beach. Packed!! And it's still the pandemic. The water is not clear, it's LA Beach water. Get a rental car with HUI and drive super early to a another beach; North Shore Beaches is beautiful. The culture is really not different, unless your on the other side of the island where the natives are. Wakiki is a replica & another version of Las Vegas lol. Literally, they even have a strip packed with high end designer stores. And LOTS of tourist traps, careful. But again, get a rental...and go to another beach. Also, there vaccine mandate is very serious. No long lines to scan QR codes. Upload ur vax card before arriving. Lastly, ask your hotel front desk for locals favorite restaurants; check out Sweet E's restaurant. The breakfast is reasonably priced & good. 💕

We just got back this week. First time. We soo disliked wakiki. Pretentious place. Loved NS. BUT I heard people can get big savings at the high end stores bc the taxes are so low. Maybe that’s why there’s so many of them.

Great question! The museums are all good choices, also the Waikiki Beach Walk is a nice flat scenic path, maybe go early in the morning to avoid the crowds. The Chinaman's hat beach aka Mokoliʻi is easily accessible from the parking lot too. Kualoa Ranch has a number of bus tours of the movie sets which is fun for kids too. Enjoy!

I am visiting in about a week. I can't believe the line to scan the QR code! So, just to clarify, you already had the code and still had to wait in line?
I am going to Toa Luau in North shore. Heard it's one of the best

    • @RunTheAtlas
      @RunTheAtlas  2 года назад +1

Correct! We already had the QR code and still had to wait nearly two hours to exit the airport. We uploaded the vaccine card with our travel information to the travel.hawaii.gov site which gives you the QR code, but unfortunately the process is not very efficient. Just plan ahead that you may be waiting a long time. Great choice in Toa Luau - heard they have a very authentic luau, have fun!

I've been to Hawaii many times...and Waikiki was always my favorite location.
From what I've seen in this vidio and what I've been told by folks who have visited in the last two years it is now..sadly.. more like a Soviet gulag. Seeing people out in the sunshine and clean fresh ocean air wearing masks just further demonstrates the insanity.
It's fascinating how easily people can be terrified into engaging in the most idiotic..indeed detrimental behavior.
And..NO..I am not trying to minimize the serious nature of any potentially dangerous virus but it is important... vital to remember:
Those who will not use the brains and skills they have are no better off than those who have none. They are by their own choice subject to the will and control of those who would be their masters. Your life. Your choice.
