I remember when the City of Rocks was relatively unknown, just a sign on I-10. You drove in and it was you and the rocks. No visitor center, no RV campground with hook ups. There were a few places around the Rocks where you could camp and park but it was solitary and beautiful. Not any more. Oh, well, man destroys another great place.
I can see the sentiment, somewhat, but with ever increasing word om mouth via the internet, there is a virtual certainty that the rocks would be covered in graffiti by now, leaving, I'd say, a worse preservation of nature's beauty and mystery. Another side of the argument is what happened to a land form nearer me, where the private land owner destroyed it rather than deal with the legal liability of having people climbing on, in, around it on his land.
