I thought this was silly at first... But Bob is totally right... This place is incredible ❤️
So if a non resident bought the pass for $225.00 and went from place to place, visiting all the campgrounds for say 3 months (even though you have a year pass. ) you would be paying somewhere around $2.50 a night. Adding an electrical hook up or sewer hookup is an additional $4.00 each. A night on the pass with electrical would be $6.50. Still an incredible deal and you have a whole year of use available!
That looks like one cool place. I wish I knew about it when I lived in NM, Albuquerque back in1970-1978
Don’t forget about the irritating fees that ReserveAmerica charges. The other issue is that with an annual pass, you can book undeveloped sites for very little money and not occupy them. Look how many “Reserved Site” signs there are without people. ReserveAmerica works for the NM Government, not so much for campers.

Be a great place for a Flinstone's theme party! We don't have groups like yours here in Australia but we do have a lot of Baby Boomers now getting to retirement age that are embracing the travel bug of seeing our huge country....commonly referred to as "Grey Nomads" many sporting stickers on their vans "Adventure before Dementia" ......my wife and I can't wait to get out and explore our country in detail...... How interesting to come across a Renaissance fair in the middle of the rocks and desert of New Mexico! I am so looking forwards to my own journeys in my RV in the not (Hopefully) Too distant future from my future residence of Wyoming. Hi Bob! Loved this! Visited City of Rocks State Park in 2007 while staying in my 32 foot Class C motor home in Deming, NM. Enjoyed a picnic at the state park. I'd like to visit again someday and camp there. I noticed a lot of improvements in the trails and more campsites than I saw before. Thank you for the tour! I passed by there back in April on my way to Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument. I highly recommend visiting the Cliff Dwellings if you visit City of Rocks. Not too far from City of Rocks, but somewhat remote. Absolutely beautiful drive, among the best in all of New Mexico. Great backpacking in the area too. You can camp at the Cliff Dwellings, but don't remember the maximum RV length.
I went on a camping at City of the Rocks for Halloween and it was a very fun trip. Nice video. 👍👍👍👍👍

As a New Mexico native, and having visited the "City of Rocks" state park, I really wish you had taken the time to show one of if not the most fascinating features of the park. During the time of the Spanish's search for the "City of Gold" the Spanish conquistadors including Cortez stubbled upon this state park and actually inscribed into one of the rocks a very interesting description of their quest....I hope you didn't miss seeing it and just forgot to mention it..

New Mexico State Parks
Policies/Business Rules
Length of Stay
Campers will be limited to a maximum of 14 days in a 20 day period. Persons who have stayed in a campground for 14 days must vacate the park for at least one week before returning.
Holiday weekends (Memorial Day, Labor Day and 4th of July) require a 3 night minimum stay if arriving on a Friday and a 2 night minimum stay if arriving on a Saturday.
Booking Window
Campers may reserve 6 months in advance of the current day.
Vehicles Per Site
ONE (1) vehicle is included in the online reservation fee. A motor home towing a vehicle or a vehicle towing a camping trailer is considered ONE (1) vehicle. Extra vehicles, including motorcycles, will be charged $10 per night per vehicle collected at the park. A Maximum of TWO (2) vehicles (A motor home towing a vehicle or a vehicle towing a camping trailer and one other vehicle) are allowed per site, space permitting.
Pet Policy
Campers with pets are responsible for control of their pets. Pet owners must pick-up after their pets and maintain the area in a clean, sanitary condition. Pets must be on leashes not more than 10 feet in length. Owners must prevent their pets from excessive barking, howling and loud noises.
Owners must prevent their pets from biting or attacking any persons or destroying any property. Pets must not be left unattended in vehicles or campsites.
Camping Discounts
New Mexico State Parks offer the Annual Camping Permit (ACP) for purchase from any New Mexico State Park, alternatively the ACP can be purchased at the Santa Fe Regional Office. The ACP will waive the $10 nightly rate per campsite but will not remove the cost of any utility hook-up (electric or full hook-up) fee. Also, any reservation fees or cancellation fees must still be paid.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made up to the day of scheduled arrival will incur a $5 cancellation fee. Cancellations made on the day of scheduled arrival will incur the $5 cancellation fee plus the cost of the first night of your reservation. Cancellations made after the day of scheduled arrival will not receive a refund.

I look at those fancy trailers and vans and I remember the STINKY one room canvas tent that we camped in. It was saggy, wobbly, leaky and smelly. Of course we loved it. It was fine until I was 14, and we went to Banf during the bad bear summer 40 years ago. God, has it been that long? It also was a bad biker gang summer. So between the two bad events ( biker gangs partying just down the hill all night, AND a large bear inviting itself for breakfast the next morning) our family gave up the camping dream and became vacation motel dwellers ever after.
Frankly, I was just entering the age where I was going to have tantrums if I couldn't access full plumbing at all times.
This is a beautiful camping area! The rock formations are incredibly interesting. My daughter lives and works in San Diego. She pays $1100/month for a studio apartment and it's beautiful, in a very posh area. However, that $1100 could allow me to live for five years in New Mexico without incurring multiple piles of electric, trash, utility bills and so on. I plan to live in my GMC van for several years while traveling throughout the country. New Mexico may be my final resting place. I would love to see a video about Cloudcroft.
Miss seeing more of you but undestand your need to be with your mother. I hope she is doing well under the circumstances.

I've met a few people in SCA, they come here every year to, in their words, go to war. I think they reenact the Battle of Hastings. I've never seen the area before, it's perfect for them
They'll have venders there too. They get as original as they can. Very unique people and really into what they do.

My mom has extended family in the Silver City, Cliff, and Gila area. I have a lot of fond memories going out to the City of Rock for day trips and picnics. Never camped there but plenty of memories of climbing on rocks...

That sounds good. As a kid I would have loved that kind of place. Running and playing among the rocks. Even now it's the kind of place I could stay at for quite a while and be happy doing it.
Bob the sca put on medieval festivals or ancient festivals just different types festivals that if not for them would have died out long ago. I used to be a member. But family and health kind of took it away from me. But if anyone gets the chance to stop and see what they do it is extremely interesting and fun. Keep up the good work Bob.

Watching for awhile now, love all the videos, we are a retired couple with medical challenges and you inspired us to purchase an RV and take it on the road, we purchased a 2005 Fleetwood Fiesta 26ft, we have 3 fur babies that will be on the road with us, we are alittle intimated with the RV as we are not too sure about all the goodness in it and how to use it, but we will learn what to do and what not to do, hopefully someday we meet up with you and Caravan Carolyn, and a few of the others

When I was a child my Father took us there to camp. He told us that the rocks would come alive in the night...scared me good.

I go to this place often really enjoy the peace and quiet faywood hot springs 1 mile away. Another nice place Gila hot springs campground about 60 miles away. Both are fantastic and very good prices for camping 10 dollars a day. Stop by and enjoy. SJ

New Mexico sits in an extinct super volcano. I wonder if that formation is residue of the last eruption about 500000 years ago.
