So if a non resident bought the pass for $225.00 and went from place to place, visiting all the campgrounds for say 3 months (even though you have a year pass. ) you would be paying somewhere around $2.50 a night. Adding an electrical hook up or sewer hookup is an additional $4.00 each. A night on the pass with electrical would be $6.50. Still an incredible deal and you have a whole year of use available!
Don’t forget about the irritating fees that ReserveAmerica charges. The other issue is that with an annual pass, you can book undeveloped sites for very little money and not occupy them. Look how many “Reserved Site” signs there are without people. ReserveAmerica works for the NM Government, not so much for campers.
I passed by there back in April on my way to Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument. I highly recommend visiting the Cliff Dwellings if you visit City of Rocks. Not too far from City of Rocks, but somewhat remote. Absolutely beautiful drive, among the best in all of New Mexico. Great backpacking in the area too. You can camp at the Cliff Dwellings, but don't remember the maximum RV length.
How interesting to come across a Renaissance fair in the middle of the rocks and desert of New Mexico! I am so looking forwards to my own journeys in my RV in the not (Hopefully) Too distant future from my future residence of Wyoming. I love your videos Bob keep it up you continue to inspire, lead, plan, and just be the best resource for all of us out here...
Hi Bob! Loved this! Visited City of Rocks State Park in 2007 while staying in my 32 foot Class C motor home in Deming, NM. Enjoyed a picnic at the state park. I'd like to visit again someday and camp there. I noticed a lot of improvements in the trails and more campsites than I saw before. Thank you for the tour! Randyl J - full time RV life since 2006 in my motor home and currently in Eastern NC Jan 2018.
Be a great place for a Flinstone's theme party! We don't have groups like yours here in Australia but we do have a lot of Baby Boomers now getting to retirement age that are embracing the travel bug of seeing our huge country....commonly referred to as "Grey Nomads" many sporting stickers on their vans "Adventure before Dementia" ......my wife and I can't wait to get out and explore our country in detail...... Many thanks for your uploads Bob!
Thank you for showing these great places to camp free or cheaply. I really enjoy watching them and didn't realize how many wonderful places there are to camp in the US. Inspires me to hit the road!
This is a great camp grounds! Thanks for giving us the tour and making us aware of this beautiful place. Reminds me of Jumbo Rock out at Joshua Tree, in CA where I live. I love the austerity of the desert and rock formation.
My mom has extended family in the Silver City, Cliff, and Gila area. I have a lot of fond memories going out to the City of Rock for day trips and picnics. Never camped there but plenty of memories of climbing on rocks...
I love when you and Carolyn do these types of videos. You are the eyes, ears and thoughts of those of us that haven't seen these places yet. This kind of effort is invaluable. Thank you and aloha.
I just started watching your channel and I have to say I absolutely love it. Very interesting and thank u for doing the New Mexico State parks . I always wanted to see what the state parks there looked like . I have an annual pass.
I too will be camping that way in a small travel trailer next month. Maybe one day full time. Thanks for sharing today.👍 Very enjoyable and relaxing video.
Oh wow. There's so much I want to get out and see before it's all drilled and mined and fraked to hell and all the mountain tops are blasted off. This place is one of them. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
I was thinking that. NM sky is already breathtaking. The stars here must be beautiful and what a wonderful place to experience a thunderstorm as well. (I like storms).
This is a beautiful camping area! The rock formations are incredibly interesting. My daughter lives and works in San Diego. She pays $1100/month for a studio apartment and it's beautiful, in a very posh area. However, that $1100 could allow me to live for five years in New Mexico without incurring multiple piles of electric, trash, utility bills and so on. I plan to live in my GMC van for several years while traveling throughout the country. New Mexico may be my final resting place. I would love to see a video about Cloudcroft.
Bob the sca put on medieval festivals or ancient festivals just different types festivals that if not for them would have died out long ago. I used to be a member. But family and health kind of took it away from me. But if anyone gets the chance to stop and see what they do it is extremely interesting and fun. Keep up the good work Bob.
Lots of questions about the park, so here's their rules. (Hope this helps!) New Mexico State Parks Policies/Business Rules Length of Stay Campers will be limited to a maximum of 14 days in a 20 day period. Persons who have stayed in a campground for 14 days must vacate the park for at least one week before returning. Holiday weekends (Memorial Day, Labor Day and 4th of July) require a 3 night minimum stay if arriving on a Friday and a 2 night minimum stay if arriving on a Saturday. Booking Window Campers may reserve 6 months in advance of the current day. Vehicles Per Site ONE (1) vehicle is included in the online reservation fee. A motor home towing a vehicle or a vehicle towing a camping trailer is considered ONE (1) vehicle. Extra vehicles, including motorcycles, will be charged $10 per night per vehicle collected at the park. A Maximum of TWO (2) vehicles (A motor home towing a vehicle or a vehicle towing a camping trailer and one other vehicle) are allowed per site, space permitting. Pet Policy Campers with pets are responsible for control of their pets. Pet owners must pick-up after their pets and maintain the area in a clean, sanitary condition. Pets must be on leashes not more than 10 feet in length. Owners must prevent their pets from excessive barking, howling and loud noises. Owners must prevent their pets from biting or attacking any persons or destroying any property. Pets must not be left unattended in vehicles or campsites. Camping Discounts New Mexico State Parks offer the Annual Camping Permit (ACP) for purchase from any New Mexico State Park, alternatively the ACP can be purchased at the Santa Fe Regional Office. The ACP will waive the $10 nightly rate per campsite but will not remove the cost of any utility hook-up (electric or full hook-up) fee. Also, any reservation fees or cancellation fees must still be paid. Cancellation Policy Cancellations made up to the day of scheduled arrival will incur a $5 cancellation fee. Cancellations made on the day of scheduled arrival will incur the $5 cancellation fee plus the cost of the first night of your reservation. Cancellations made after the day of scheduled arrival will not receive a refund.
I'm loving this series of camp sites! I'm in disability so I think I read where it only cost $100.00 a year! I so want to do this lifestyle! Thanks so much for caring!👍🤗🐶
I've met a few people in SCA, they come here every year to, in their words, go to war. I think they reenact the Battle of Hastings. I've never seen the area before, it's perfect for them They'll have venders there too. They get as original as they can. Very unique people and really into what they do.
Awesome! We've had City of Rocks on our bucket list for years. Great seeing what it is like in your video. We'll be there sometime in winter 2018. Safe travels!
VERY COOL Bob! Wrote that down as a place to visit...I LOVE ROCKS! Thanks for posting such an interesting place and giving all the info on the state park pass on a previous vid. Hope all is well in your world! :-)
We did like you a few weeks ago, drove through shot a video, but didn't stay. It is really something to see. If someone is in the area it's worth the stop
I look at those fancy trailers and vans and I remember the STINKY one room canvas tent that we camped in. It was saggy, wobbly, leaky and smelly. Of course we loved it. It was fine until I was 14, and we went to Banf during the bad bear summer 40 years ago. God, has it been that long? It also was a bad biker gang summer. So between the two bad events ( biker gangs partying just down the hill all night, AND a large bear inviting itself for breakfast the next morning) our family gave up the camping dream and became vacation motel dwellers ever after. Frankly, I was just entering the age where I was going to have tantrums if I couldn't access full plumbing at all times.
Watching for awhile now, love all the videos, we are a retired couple with medical challenges and you inspired us to purchase an RV and take it on the road, we purchased a 2005 Fleetwood Fiesta 26ft, we have 3 fur babies that will be on the road with us, we are alittle intimated with the RV as we are not too sure about all the goodness in it and how to use it, but we will learn what to do and what not to do, hopefully someday we meet up with you and Caravan Carolyn, and a few of the others
Congratulations on your r.v ! just do a few near by test camping spots. Then just dive in and just go for it. Wonderful you have your furry road companions too! 🐶🐕🐺
Love all your videos. At 12:37 min. did anyone see the side profile on the rock that looks like a pig, a dog, or face, with its nose up towards the sky?
Those rocks are weird. Never mind the rocks sitting on top of the boulders, like someone PLACED them there, and the odd phallic shaped ones. At 11:24 we can see a giant boulder with a flat side, like someone SLICED through it. I can understand wind and water erosion, but a sliced rock? Wtf
Watching these camp videos I'd include by default the elevation, daytime/nighttime temperature difference, and whether WIND is a factor. Throughout the west wind makes a real difference in how you camp.
I thought this was silly at first... But Bob is totally right... This place is incredible ❤️
Bob thank you for showing so much of this park. I feel almost like I've been there.
Bob! That was amazing! Thank you SO much for driving around and giving us such an up close and thorough view.
Awesome! You. Are the best!
Most of the east have no clue about what we are missing. Thanks for taking us along.

That looks like one cool place. I wish I knew about it when I lived in NM, Albuquerque back in1970-1978

Bob, fabulous. Thank you so much for taking the time to film and post this. You made me feel like I was driving in the van next to you

That is so amazing, never seen anything like it, thank you for taking us with you!!
Miss seeing more of you but undestand your need to be with your mother. I hope she is doing well under the circumstances.
What an amazing place. You tube and you tubers like Bob really do fill a need.
So true.

I am sure we will be hearing "Adventure before Dementia", OMG!
Excellent video, Thank you Bob!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Wow!! Just getting to all these NM videos!! These are gorgeous! What an awesome resource you are, Bob!! 😊😊
Beautiful rock and stone formations. I'd love to stay in the City of Rocks. Just beautiful.
Thank you for the tour.
Thank you for showing these great places to camp free or cheaply. I really enjoy watching them and didn't realize how many wonderful places there are to camp in the US. Inspires me to hit the road!
12:51? Is that a converted trash truck... That thing is cool looking 👌😎
This is a great camp grounds! Thanks for giving us the tour and making us aware of this beautiful place. Reminds me of Jumbo Rock out at Joshua Tree, in CA where I live.
I love the austerity of the desert and rock formation.
Wow! TY so much for this Bob. So wonderful to get these tours. It helps me to know whether this is something i would be happy doing.
So beautiful! I'd have to check out the SCA and see if they are doing any fun stuff. Renaissance fair stuff is so fun.
Wow! I like it! That place rocks! Heh!heh! But no really an other one to put on my list. Thanks Bob :-)

What a cool park! Thanks for the video Bob.
Quite amazing views, thanks for giving us the chance to see!
Bob this is a great idea showing us the campsites and parks like this. Carry on the great job.
Another amazingly informative video!!! Thank you so much Bob.
I just started watching your channel and I have to say I absolutely love it. Very interesting and thank u for doing the New Mexico State parks . I always wanted to see what the state parks there looked like . I have an annual pass.
looks like a nice place to visit for a while. Thanks for the video.
I too will be camping that way in a small travel trailer next month. Maybe one day full time. Thanks for sharing today.👍 Very enjoyable and relaxing video.
Sounds good Elmer, have a great time. And me too, 'Maybe one day full time'.
it sure was relaxing. the sound of the tires shut my eyes so I have to watch it again!
Love those rock formations. Will put that park on my list for future.
Oh wow. There's so much I want to get out and see before it's all drilled and mined and fraked to hell and all the mountain tops are blasted off. This place is one of them. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
Thx you Bob great info! I've never heard or seen thisplace before! Amazing!
I camped there when there were NO facilities or buildings. loved it.
What a beautiful place, it looks like a film set.
I would love to go to this place!! Thank you for this very scenic, serene tour, Bob!!
Appreciate you showing us the different state parks in NM.
I went on a camping at City of the Rocks for Halloween and it was a very fun trip. Nice video. 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you, as always. As someone else mentioned, the sounds of the tires on the road was very relaxing.
I hear if you leave two rocks to close together they multiply... Someone should've separated those long ago.
Beautiful. Safe travels.
lol
Grandpa called them sex rocks.
He'd clear rocks out of his fields every year. Had to be breeding.
(River bottoms land in Iowa)
Beautiful park. Definitely gonna visit it.
We love City of rocks! Amazing skies at night .
I was thinking that. NM sky is already breathtaking. The stars here must be beautiful and what a wonderful place to experience a thunderstorm as well. (I like storms).
So cool to see... makes me want to go there... hope to see y’all soon
Thanks ever so much for posting. I appreciate your generosity with sharing this awesome information.
Thank's, Bob! Great video!
Absolutely breath taking! Thanks for sharing this with us. 💚☺💚

I love City of Rocks! I like to camp there on the way back from the Gila National Forest
A place in Northern New South Wales is a bit like that.
Love Rocks .
Will photogragh them the next time I get that way.
Thanks Bob ...Love the shows.
My state!! ❤❤❤ This where I’ll do the majority of my living in my RV!

Love it!! What an amazing state park/campground.
I love the rock formations out there. People back here in Ohio that I talk to about them have no idea how breathtaking they can be

I would come here when I was little with my Nina and Nino! I thought the Flintstones lived there!🤣 Thank you for the memory!🙌💚
Bob this is fantastic! Thank you so much!
Awesome! We've had City of Rocks on our bucket list for years. Great seeing what it is like in your video. We'll be there sometime in winter 2018. Safe travels!

Flinstones, comes to mind when viewing this Rock City....Very cool stuff. One day.,.,. One day.

i think ancient aliens placed those rocks...kinda looks like Easter Island and Stone Henge
Bob,
What the heck was that rig at 12:50? You should have stopped and got a tour for us!
I said the same thing! An RV with that attractive garbage truck profile.
Watching these camp videos I'd include by default the elevation, daytime/nighttime temperature difference, and whether WIND is a factor. Throughout the west wind makes a real difference in how you camp.
Love this video.Thank you. Bob. Not much talking on this vid, but those rocks seem to have plenty to say for themselves, eh.
I camped there as BSA in the 50's loved it.Dam I'm getting old
Amazing views!
Looks like the Stonehenge of the desert!
