A more relaxed week on our off grid homestead this week. Join us as we spend our first night camping with our dogs...what could possibly go wrong! 😂
It's been a HOT week here on our Portuguese farm, so whilst we wait for a few important deliveries, we decided to put renovations on hold (don't worry, only for a few days) and take the opportunity to camp with our dogs for the first time.
Neither of our rescue dogs have even step foot (paw) in a tent before so we're hoping that all goes smoothly as we'd love to get away with them more often for weekend camping trips and vacations.

Haha we did make them move so we could lay down to sleep. We probably had a 6 inch slither of mattress each 😂

I just started watching, I went back to the beginning and have watched everything. God has given both of you such gifts and talents, your skill and perfectionism is evident in everything you do. And what a gift you have in Victoria. She works alongside you, willing to learn and try everything. I have been very impressed and it is refreshing to see a couple working together, great sense of humor and getting along. Keep it up.

I always had my dog sleeping in the front porch, and he seemed to be happier there anyway. All I did was to let him into the sleeping compartment for a look round before we zipped up.
I spent a fortnight in northern Portugal, in Geres National Park, and it was one of the most lovely places I've ever been.

Ooooh we’ll have to take a trip there! We did consider them in the porch but it’s not completely sealed plus that’s where we’ll store our bags, shoes etc.

There was plenty of room for the dogs in the tent vestibule. Just put a couple of stuff beds out there for them.

Dear Victoria, 20 years ago I started building my family tree and never thought I'd get more than 200 people. As of today, there are 274,821 people in my tree. You are not (never) getting old. . . Simply older! I have spent most of my life in a twin bed. About 2 years ago I treated myself to a full bed. Now me and all 9 dogs fit!! Whoops, 11 dogs (two 5 month old puppies)!

We put shade cloth over raised beds too, plants are loving it. We are at 7800 elevation, sun too much!
Some of ours were nearly on death’s door & now they’re thriving again! 🥳

Haha.. I laughed so much seeing the dogs spread out over your bed and no space for the 2 of you! You definitely need a bigger tent..I used to go camping with my dog, she loved it and was ever so well behaved just like your 2.
Honestly we were so shocked by how well behaved they both were!
Some of that shade cloth thrown over a wire would make a great tent! With your bright yellow lights hanging a little way away from the tent. 😃

Happiness is playing together and creating something. Someone told me the happiest couples are those that would have played well together as children. Never grow up! Love Yellowstone but camping is my worse nightmare. Late 70 s not the time to start🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👏🥳

😂😂😂 kids do the same trying to sleep with them tossing and turning arms and legs all over. Blessings and hugs. ❤😊❤
If you are putting a Tarp over the garden or over anything...a trick I learned is , take a stone the size of a ping pong ball, roll the tarp over the stone at the edge Then take a couple of half hitch knots on back of the stone and over the tarp and it will hold forever without tearing the tarp.

I had a black labrador retriever,in the dark I could not see her. I gave her a small bicycle light on the collar. What a delight ( Mark light😮),I saw wherever she went,yes!

Been to Portugal a few times and when it was very hot, we lived off those organic watermelons they sell at the road side ... They are exceptionally good down there ... In the fall it is oranges and then we mix in blended chia seeds so we feel full ... Love Portugal and plan to move there in a few years ...

Emulate your tent for your garden shade. Fabricate some pvc poles 1/2 - 1" dia. Probably have to make some dry samples before gluing. Anchor metal rod 16" - 24" lg , at an angle into the ground at opposite ends of the canopy. Attach one end of the pvc pipe to the rod. Arch tbe pipe to the opposite side rod. This should give the shage canopy some height and support. On the underside of the canopy, sew or velcro or glue pipe loop rings for attachment points.
Great that the vegetables are doing fine. Does look brown and dry.
Your family has grown. You need a taller and bigger tent. At least double or triple the current one. Happy camping.

open the inside zipper, put beds for dogs inside the awning bit, with the main zipper closed, it would be cooler on the grass for them

I live in Perth Western Australia and I absolutely love the hot temperatures . Anything between 30-40degrees is my ideal temperature.

😂 this happened to me too when I was a teenager! We left the door slightly open as it was hot & woke up to a big wet nose sniffing around our ankles!

We used to have more bloopers in the early days of making videos as we were more nervous & also a bit more precious about what went into the video. Not so many nowadays as most stuff makes it into the final edit to keep it as natural as possible 😊

Here in Florida we have our garden covered with shade cloths too right now, and it rains quite frequently. No problem. The rain just comes right through.
