- The praise of young god Kupala. Kupala festival is one of the main Slavonic festivals. Being dedicated to summer solstice this festival is the festival of the Sun and Water which are the beginning of all life. This festival is time for flourishing of all life-bearing powers of Nature. It was a tradition from the earliest times to celebrate Kupala during the night from 23rd to 24th of June. Traditional celebrations included the sacred fires made on riversides with young men and women jumping over them holding each others hands. People put flower diadems on the water, gathered magic herbs and roots, bathed in healing dew during the morning. The praise of Kupala was Slava, Kupala!.

I'm very proud of my roots, ancestry and faith, but seriously, the more I learn about Slavic cultures, the more I'm in love with you guys. It's really fascinating to me to learn about Slavic past and religion.

Chrisianity is about worshiping god as person...paganism is worshiping nature powers (word god means good thing or some important nature power in Pagan terminology - for example Perun is not god of thunder, but he is thunder himself) ...its not egoistic, every single true pagan lives in harmony with nature and respects what nature offered him

Kupała name means (to bathe) is the Slavic goddess of Springs, water, love and flower herbal lore. She is also the mother, associated with trees, herbs, and flowers. Kupula personifies the magical and spiritual power inherent in the earth and Kupula's devotees worshiped her with ritual baths and offerings of flowers cast upon water. Since fire as well as water has powers of purification, her worshipers also dance around and leaped over huge bonfires. Her effigy is burned and cast into water.

@Teiws88 Astronomically that is correct, but across most of Europe it was traditionally marked on the 23rd/24th, and dedicated to John the Baptist, whose feast day was the 24th. Ivan Kupala is the old Russian name for John the Baptist, though the solstice traditons of Kupala predate the conversion to Christianity.
