@@steviet9452 I don't think so, auto Alex and his guys all buy unrealistic projects. Cars that need massive amounts of rust repair ect. They then pass it onto other companies and expect them to do it for major discount and even free like the red BMW Yorkshire car restoration did for him. It's not enjoyable as viewer watching a car be restored for virtually nothing especially when they get tons of free parts from companies, it's almost insulting as a paying customer. The TDC boys buy realistic projects that appeal to the viewer, they pay for their work and don't spend silly amounts. Yes they too get sponsorships but they don't shove it down your throat every 2 seconds.

As having a restoration company and youtube channel ourselves, we completely understand why you took the job on. We can't believe how badly you've been treated. Your work is top notch, you've put proper hours and expertise into that car that's been lied about. That's really not on. Gutted for you, really put Taylor in a different light for us.

As someone who’s also self employed and has had to deal with non payers, I think people don’t understand just how much it affects a person mentally as well as financially. It’s difficult to over state that. Your video is very grown up, you haven’t chose to make this a slinging match like it could’ve been. The way they spoke in that clip is the opposite. Well done Josh. I’ve been waiting for the right time to bring this up. I’ve also had a bad experience with Taylor. Back in August of 2023 I went to view an e39 BMW 540i that Taylor was selling on a Friday. I looked around the car, took it on a test drive and we agreed a price and delivery. He messaged Monday during the day asking for my date of birth so he could fill out the logbook. He delivered it Monday evening and with it being late and me having other plans after I forgot to ask about the v5 there and then. I messaged him Tuesday and asked after the logbook to which he said he’d “dig it out when he was back at the unit”. Then nothing. I messaged and rang him multiple times over the next few days to see what was happening, all of which were ignored. Then on Thursday, he did finally send me through a photo of the new keepers slip to tax the car. Unfortunately it was the old style logbook so the code was incorrect and so it sat until I got the new logbook in my name. Upon receiving this, I taxed the car and began driving it around. When we made the deal originally he had mentioned an ABS issue and so we agreed on a lower price. However, more and more small issues appeared over the next few days, much less than a week in time. Then the head gasket blew. I messaged him about it and asked for a full refund and for him to take the car back as I no longer wanted it due to the constant issues. He said he couldn’t give a refund as he wasn’t in a financial position to do so and was stopping selling cars (which isn’t true as you can see on his instagram him advertising cars for sale well beyond August). I chased him on it, and all that resulted was in him muting the conversation so he wouldn’t be notified by my messages or calls. Over the next few weeks I saw him post on his instagram about his recent purchases of an Alpina and an e60 M5, proving he did have the money, but decided to do what benefitted only him. With it being the car it was in the spec that it was, it was worth a considerable amount of money, and I hate the thought that I paid for approximately half of the M5, if I had to guess. Thank you for posting this video, it’s opened eyes if people who were unaware of how terrible he truly is and has given a voice to me and many other people who have fallen victim to Taylor, I’m so happy to see it all come crumbling down around him as he deserves it and so much more.
He tried to buy my Alpina back in August, I had a change of heart and he went out and bought a different one. It lines up with timings og your story for sure.

I wasn't going to post a comment, but after seeing what other people have posted I feel like I should. (This is a very short version of the story). I bought a blue Audi TT 3.2 from Taylor, back in July/August 2023. Viewed the car, looked good. Took it for a short test drive and liked it. While viewing I noticed a very very slight rattle, he was convinced it was a loose undertray etc. As he'd just changed the oil and might not have secured it properly. Still, I went ahead with the sale after offering a lower price and he accepted. On the way home, on the A14 back towards the M6, I noticed loads more about the car that didn't seem right. And then, EML light came on.. checked the code, was mixture related. Over the next few days the rattle got so much worse. I took it to a local very well known VW V6 tuning garage, they confirmed it was the DSG flywheel. I also found both an oil leak, and coolant leak. Very clear, should've been advisories 100%. I found it ever increasingly difficult to contact Taylor as the days/weeks went past. I ended up going to Caffeine & Machine after seeing he planned on visiting, had a good conversation about the car. We ended up agreeing for him to take the car back, for the full price I paid. It took a long time, but Taylor and Luke finally showed up at around 10pm a few weeks later to collect the car, and give me the money back. I get the second hand car sales are always tricky, I know because I've sold a lot of cars myself. But if this was some random guy, I'd probably just have to take it on the chin. But with this much of a social outreach, and being in the public eye it becomes more of an issue. Especially when it's seemed to happen to a lot of people. I chose not to do anything else about my situation because it was resolved (eventually). But recent events have made me want to tell my story at least. So in conclusion, I did get the money back, he was true to his word, he did offer to pay for some parts and repairs. But the contact issues, and the fact the car was a complete shed and the list of CLEAR stuff I kept finding wrong with it was enough. After he'd just put it through an MOT a few days before I viewed with NO advisories shown before selling, and told me his "mechanic" gave it the okay for him to sell after "inspecting it" but, no description of the faults the car had were on the sale post... looks like I was lucky enough to get the money back from some peoples storys. Probably worth noting also, the car was back up for sale a month or so later for the price I paid, with no mention of the flywheel being fixed (the biggest fault). And it never made it back on the road, currently no MOT and SORN

I feel a pattern is starting to appear with Taylor. He seems to be a typical dodgy salesman. Appears super nice and friendly but deep down he has no respect for anyone and is happy to screw whoever for his own benefit. The AutoAlex trio have generally been leaving a sour taste for a while now. I pray this video gets the attention it deserves, they keep acting like children with no repercussions.

I'm one of those people that was mugged off by Taylor. I lost thousands on a e53 around 18/24months ago. Bought from Taylor but had immediate issues. Ended up having to scrap after 8 months as was costing too much to fix and had no chance of passing an mot. All in I lost about 8k- 4k for the car and another 4k in work. On numerous occasions I reached out to Taylor via insta and WhatsApp and was totally blanked. I gave him the benefit of the doubt due to autoalex and just assumed life was busy etc. I had marked this down as bad luck and a life lesson, but seeing this video and many of the comments show how dodgy a dealer he is. Have shared this with Alex. Hope karma comes back around.
He bought one of the v8 x5s he had off of my mate, who had sold it to him for about a grand and told him, I stopped driving it because the gearbox or engine is about to window itself, he bought it “for a video” then sold it to someone for about 7k lol
Interesting to learn about this situation. Have been a paying customer of Gresswells in the last 12 months and have nothing but positive things to say about the workmanship and timeliness of the job. Fully fabricated suspension system, two link rear and custom front control arms with and air ride installation plus an engine swap and brake cylinder/shoe repairs on a 1970 Toyota Corona. I know this isn’t Google reviews but I’m leaving five stars and wouldn’t think twice about sending another project there.
This situation makes me really sad - that car was my friend’s pride and joy and I’m gutted that someone like that owns it and is now cobbling it back together. It’s a special car to me and it deserved to be restored to its former glory. The only positive I can draw from this is it made me discover your channel and I’ve watched and enjoyed every video since! Keep doing what you are doing!

I did think of the backstory to this car and how he’s done it no justice and isn’t deserving really and I’m sorry for you having to see it in this light but in no way is it anyone’s fault as he has us all fooled of what a nice lad he is. I’m sure the car will go to someone deserving in the near future who will love and care for it as much as your mate did.
If you feel that way about a car, don't sell it. If the car is that valuable to you and you still sold it then you obviously are either spineless or money hungry, can't have it both ways

Hi Josh, as you say, it's a real shame you had to make this video, but I'm glad you did. I must be VERY old (72), I watch all your videos and will definitely not unsubscribe. I have watched their videos but never felt like subscribing, and now never will. I rope them together with channels like Schmee, Mat Armstrong and others that are just bloody annoying. The standard of work you have done on that E28 can be seen by all of us, it could never be called shit. You are bound to be annoyed and take it personally, but your loyal customers and fans of the channel won't be going anywhere, we know the score, try and put it behind you, move on and never make that mistake again.
As long as your report credits haven’t expired. They did that to me when I had 1 left unused… I was a bit annoyed because it’s the most detailed report on the market
I agree, I’ve stopped watching their RUclips as they seem to be less about the community and more about the money. Plus, most of their videos are gifted cars, car parts and bits. It’s not realistic
It feels as if they’ve gotten too comfortable sticking to a format/content style which maximises their financial benefit whilst minimising the effort required. Like buying cars under the guise of them being future channel projects etc.. only to be sold days/weeks later the second they realise it’s not going to give them the largest possible return in terms of content/money. Same goes for the Pod, it’s gotten progressively lazier with each addition, with the guys now typically only talking about the exact same topics or the same BMWs/Big Pete they mention in every single episode. They used to include quiz-style elements, guests, dedicated/specific topics etc. But now it’s just repetitive small-talk and them reading out self-congratulating comments 😂
I had dealings with him on an E92 M3. Wasn’t great. I sold him it needing work. After him offering to do the work on the car. He took it and then gave me a price and then was quite sketchy about when I would get paid. I’d already taken a big hit on the value and then had to wait for him to sell some other cars for him to pay me. Took ages to get the money. He got a parking ticket in it that he also took ages to pay and reply about. I don’t believe he did the work. I think he flipped it for more hiding that it needed a new rear subframe but I have no proof of it. But the clear MOT was issued extremely quickly. Maybe he works fast. I’m lucky as I got my money in the end. But it wasn’t pleasant. As you can imagine I felt very silly giving him the car and not having anything to show for it for a while. But you live and learn. Sounds like he’s been very naughty with you. Hopefully if nothing else this brings lots of nice people to your channel to watch your great vids. As it has me. All the best 👍

Really well made video Josh. You have more patience than I do, if I was getting messed about this much that E28 would have spent the year rotting outside not taking up valuable space in dry storage. Good on you for standing up to BS. It's a shame you've had to resort to clearing your honest name but at least you've done it properly. And as a bonus, you don't have to worry about Alex noshing you off anymore. Nightmare fuel.
Long time Autoalex fan, and always been a big fan of the Taylor I saw on the screen. So it is such a huge shame to hear of this. He's treated you in an absolutely abhorrent way, beyond ridiculous. He clearly has a pretty horrendous side to him. Completely on your side with this, and yeah it's gonna stop me from watching their content for now. Which is a shame, because Taylor is a brilliant presenter and I'm sure there's a lot of good in him. But his immature and horrid side has just shone through with this, and by the sounds of it this wasn't the only occasion. He made the first step, making an apology on Instagram (not the worst apology of all time, but not enough on its own). He needs to at the very least make up all the money owed to you and return the parts - though ideally go above and beyond that to make up for some of the time lost. Then address any other skeletons he's hiding in the closet, given that a couple of other people have shared not-so-positive stories. Then prove that he's actually taken on board everything and realised that he needs to change as a person - and demonstrate that by being squeaky clean. After that, he might earn my respect back.

Seeing lots of comments about how any criticism is quietly being deleted from the respective videos. If that rubs you the wrong way, you can also leave a review on your podcasting platform of choice. As I understand it, they can’t delete those reviews. And the weighting of low stars does have a significant influence in several ways that are meaningful to creators.
Only here after seeing Taylors post(s) on IG. How they (Taylor, Alex and Rory) have handled this situation is an absolute joke. They all knew exactly what the truth was behind the scenes but decided to try and tarnish your reputation via their platform regardless. Safe to say i have unsubscribed from their channels. The irony of it all is that this scenario will bring more good exposure to your channel than any collab could've achieved. Your video portrays the truth perfectly.

Hopefully not from All the Gear (and by extension TDC). The latter has nothing to do with the situation as far as I’m aware, and ATG is completely separate content-wise. I have been enjoying those two far more than AA since the beginning, and I think they deserve the support.
They couldn't even man up & do a video to apologise in fact AutoAlex has been shut down till March now saying closed for maintenance the last time I looked on their channel page. Not a great way to handle this situation at all.

I'll be honest, this is the first of your videos I have seen. I recall the video(s?) on the AutoAlex V2 channel and thought you seemed a nice guy and were doing good work, but while I love cars, I'm not one of these people who subscribes to every car channel and meticulously absorbs every second of content. BUT, I have been an avid follower of Alex and 'the crew' since the CarThrottle days. I really proud of what he has achieved now and now employs about 20 people, I think? That said, I'd be lying if I have not thought the AA content has been in decline for the last few months (thankfully offset by TDC absolutely smashing it). That said, I have always felt a bit uneasy about Taylor. Maybe it was just a bit of prejudice based on stereotypical dodgy car dealers, but I found it hard to believe he could have built such a successful career in that field of work while being as nice, friendly and honest as he comes across - making me think that he is probably not that nice, friendly or honest behind the scenes. And seemingly that suspicion was bang on. I was really shocked when I heard them slagging you off on the podcast(s). I had no frame of reference about whether it was justified or not, but regardless - them going on about their support of men's mental health and then ripping into you like a couple of school bullies was really jarring. I hope Alex addresses this - it is going to leave a very sour taste in a lot of his fans' mouths until he does. And hopefully it gives them a bit of a wake up call that they can't act in this way (or allow Taylor to act this way) if they want to hold/grow their presence. Great work Josh, your work and behaviour speak for themselves and you have just gained another sub 🙂
Oh dear. This was recommended to me from that Auto Alex video. I've never seen your videos before but its certainly good to have both sides of the story. I get the feeling Alex and Rory may not have the full story either. Hopefully they can be big enough to look into it and publicly apologise. They wouldn't want the bad publicity to affect the other channels that seem to be full of nice guys. Especially TDC.
As a long time fan and follower of the Autoalex crew I have to say Taylor has f’ed up big time. He is a typical sleazy car dealer and now has the advantage of being significant online. A very bad call taken by the crew to unnecessarily trigger someone who hasn’t done anything wrong but thats also maybe coz they only heard one side of the story. Well done Josh! Really happy to see you spoke up about it so that a lot of people know the other side of the story as well✌️
WOW, just watched this video after seeing Taylors story on Insta, I'm a big autoalex fan and I have to say well done, Josh you have come out of this with nothing but respect and integrity whilst leaving Auto Alex looking like fools for thinking they are bigger and better than everyone. A few things. I'm a former serving Royal Marine Commando and the relevance this has is due to mental health (as you mentiined in the beginning of this video). I asked AutoAlex and his clan to stop using PTSD as a joke/tool to humour people. I have a confirmed diagnosis (I'm aware that a vast majority of the UK, the public thibk they know what our services do, but they dont. This included the majority of the UK do not support our services) of Complex PTSD and they've used this more than once. The other thing is, I don't trust Taylor nor the AutoAlex brand. When you become older, you tend to become wiser, especially my time in the forces. They're good with editing to portray good people, yet they have an ulterior motive. I was saying to myself throughout this video that I would have been charging Taylor storage fee and do eat he did with his BMW 80's 5 seriers, request ownership of his E28 if he didn't come to collect within 28 days. I agree, they're 30 - 40 years of age and we all like to have a laugh but it's very childish especially when they aired there laundry online. They have been called out for purchasing cars from people for a lower price by applying pressure, this is something they were called out on, and they addresses their actions on earlier podcasts. Josh, I truly hope you manage to push forward, leave these two-faced cowards behind, and push forward with your reputable business. As for Jack and Ethan and some of the other guys under the AutoAlex brand, they're okay, but Taylor, Rory, and Alex are very toxic individuals. I hope they're reading this and take note to especially not joking about PTSD. It's not a joke. Examples can be made, and I mean examples in many forms. I agree with you John, go back 20 plus years and this wouldn't be dealt with over social media, it would have been dealt with very differently. Best of luck Josh.

Stumbled onto Mr H Reviews highlighting your issues the E28, which lead me to you recap. Now I'm a subscriber and have binged watch the 4 video on the E28 and am addicted, great workmanship and very easy to watch. Really like the explanations on how your breaking the job down into stages.
100% to me sounds like Taylor has had a moment of, “I’m now an influencer, you should be doing this for free as I’ll get you more followers/work”. He does definitely owe you an apology that you deserve. I’m also not defending Alex and Rory, but I’m sure they didn’t know the complete story, only what Taylor has told them. That’s probably why they were egging him on on the podcast. Shame, as it was quite childish of them, and they should also owe you an apology. No one should publicly be shitting on other people’s work.

First point you made is Men’s Mental Heath absolutely this is probably the most important thing and shows how strong you are to dealing with this situation after hearing your garage getting slated I was shocked to hear the podcast as I could not see anything wrong with your work I’m around 30 year in the motor trade

I bought a car from Taylor and it certainly wasn't the best experience, the ducking and taking months to respond doesn't surprise me, I bought the car needing a part he said he'd ordered and would send out to me, yet it took me constantly messaging to get answers on what was happening, took 4 months and when I messaged him I got pulled over and needed the part to avoid a fine (was an indicator stalk) he ignored me so I had to pay £70

I always suspected that Taylor was a wrong un and now we can all see how true that is. I don't think for one second that any of this will have a negative effect on you or your business. Mate honestly this couldn’t have been a more open and honest video! Mad respect for standing up for yourself, what it boils down to is you have a reputation to uphold and mouths to feed bills to pay. When someone comes along and lies about something like a proven reputation, you’re left with no other option but to respond. I hope everyone can learn from this and hope it hadn’t given you too much stress mate!
I used to like Taylor and ignore Alex's onscreen jokes as him 'being dodgy' as banter. Then, and I can't remember whether it was on the main or V2 channel, Taylor was doing a piece on film regarding fixing up a car to sell when he found something quite bad... He just pulled a face and (I'm paraphrasing here) stated "we'll just let the new owner find out about that". I called him out in the comments for it as I think it was something really expensive to fix and then my comment was mysteriously deleted😢
Yeah, and also when he ripped that bloke off and was laughing about getting a steal. He took advantage of the subscriber and they got massively called out on it!
It does make me wonder if similar happened between him and Bruno on his 635… that was taking forever as well and they featured Bruno many times and were elated by him… only to find out when he finally picked it up it was done and finished by another shop. And Bruno has never been mentioned for a while in their videos.
Yeah I was wondering about Bruno lately myself, it was awesome seeing him on the show. Gives you that "use and discard" kinda vibe after this has come to light doesn't it. Was nice to see Bruno on CT's video recently.

Thanks for shedding some light on this... this hurts to know because I genuinely do like most of their content and Taylor SEEMS like such a nice chap, but as it turns out, he's two faced. I can't support people who take advantage of others, especially if they then slag off those who are just trying to make an honest living. I've noticed a recurring theme on that channel of all take, and no give. Thankfully it seems that now word is getting out, and they will be paying the price for their actions.
It is always sad to see people making fun/ talking down on each other in this scene, if any community, this should be the one where people can relax and not worry about negativity and bad mouthing, it is really a shame. I know it is a bit different when you do this for a living, but the lies always get uncovered sooner or later, and when you live off this,the only selling point is your reputation. Sir, you have earned a subscription. Thank you so much for your video on these guys. People who “think” they “know what they are talking about” are very dangerous, especially when they have a platform to broadcast their voice on. Mix in the delusion of grandeur that these people get when people watch their content, and they don’t get what they want from suppliers etc. then it becomes a toxic mixture. This person evidently didn’t understand the reality of buying a rust bucket and restoring it. They have been evidently blinded by 15 minute videos of car restoration, expecting cars to get fixed in a flash. This isn’t reality. At the end of the day, you run a business. You don’t have time for dreamers and they need a reality check. There’s no excuse for owing people money, especially in business. Take the mickey and you will get a reality check. That’s what this Josh has gotten and evidently can’t take it, gets embarrassed and then has to act like he’s the one who’s been hurt and nobody else. Lesson to all - don’t let these “RUclips creators” take advantage of you. My personal advice? Don’t take work from any of these clowns without a substantial, upfront deposit. Substantial to the amount where if something “goes wrong”, you can walk away with a minimal amount of headache
Auto Alex channel's biggest downfall Is their dream to be top gear . They have tried too hard . Plus the branding of "auto Alex" doesn't fit anymore, and you can almost feel alexes anxiety to stay in control when he's on camera . They need to re brand the channel to "auto lads " or something and start having fun with cars again. The TDC lads are slowly becoming just clowning around too.. ironically all the gear is fishing out the most relaxing watchable content right now.
TDC have their highs and lows but overall I prefer their content over AA. But I fully agree on ATG. Those two have managed to keep their video quality consistent and thoroughly enjoyable ever since the start. They are definitely my favourite out of the bunch by far.
Wow this is crazy. As a person who has had their life flipped upside down in the last few months due to people spreading false information and stories about me, this really hits close to home. I’ve always loved watching the autoalex stuff but hearing that this is what’s gone on I don’t know if I can ever look at them the same. You don’t deserve any of this Josh. My heart goes out to you.
I wouldn’t worry Taylor has a slightly unsavory side which is why I only watch the Auto Alex shows when he’s not there. Keep the videos up I for one enjoy them

Hi Josh, I’ll be honest, I only came across your channel because of Taylor’s E28. I’m really glad I did because I really enjoy your content. You seem like a really honest hard working guy that takes pride in doing a good job. I can’t tell you how disappointed I am with Taylor and the rest of the Autoalex team. It’s certainly made me feel a lot differently towards them. If I was Alex I’d think very carefully about continuing to allow Taylor to represent the brand that he’s worked so had to build up. Went to shed fest and I was sat in the bloody queue for 4 hours then was told they where full. Decided to give this years one a go but after watching everything that’s happened I’m not sure I’m going to go this year as I went to the Christmas meet at caffeine and machine and yea I liked it I just felt like it was rushed.

Absolute bastards the lot of them, the way they mugged the guy off from Southend with the Kcar and then acting like spoilt and giggling school girls was pathetic. Josh I am appalled by this story and can’t believe how badly you’ve been treated. I’ve known Taylor for years, way before the RUclips shenanigans. It’s horrible how people can change, it’s almost as if they’re invincible with their wide audience agreeing and nodding with them on any situation. The digs at you on that podcast are outrageous, especially with Alex and Rory egging Taylor on to ‘explain’ what happened. Credit to you Josh for putting this video online and setting the story straight. RUclips collaborations can be a very grey area to work within but you set out your clear expectations from the start. I’m glad you made this video, I really felt we needed to hear the full story so that more people can hear the truth. I have listened to them slagging you off in the podcast and I’ve called him out in the comments on that podcast as if he’s going to tarnish a mans reputation his side of the story just wasn’t good enough having muttered a few words about it, he clearly didn’t have anything to say about it as he’d be fabricating a lie (no pun), which is what happened anyways. Obviously having seen your videos we all know your work is top tier and the moment he said the work was bad I knew he was being dishonest. Good on you for shining a light on this, it’s a shame you’ve had to do it but they can’t be playing with people’s livelihood like that, it’s not right. But with the context of both Alex and Rory raising the issue on the podcast and prompting Taylor to speak on it, they really encouraged him to slander the work and circumstances. Now they very well might not know about how Taylor has handled this, and may have only heard whatever it is that Taylor has bothered to report to them… but failing to do their own due diligence allowing an employee to gossip, speak poorly of another business, and misrepresenting any dealings in a manner where the intent is to broadcast those statements is problematic. Then in hindsight, they also made the decision to not edit and remove that from what was going to be broadcast. They aren’t really hapless bystanders here.

The amount of deleted comments on that podcast video, i was reading them last night and everyone was behind Josh. I went back again today to see if they had responded and they were all deleted, i have now unsubscribed form all the Autoalex channels except the TDC lads and all the gear. I hope they make amends soon.
Was waiting for their next video apologising, but can't be bothered. Have unsubscribed too, because deleting comments on both the podcast and their two most recent videos is a clear indication they are not sorry. Disappointed, because I enjoyed the channels, but their shitty behaviour is totally unjustified.

They then pass it onto other companies and expect them to do it for major discount and even free like the red BMW Yorkshire car restoration did for him. It's not enjoyable as viewer watching a car be restored for virtually nothing especially when they get tons of free parts from companies, it's almost insulting as a paying customer. The TDC boys buy realistic projects that appeal to the viewer, they pay for their work and don't spend silly amounts. Yes they too get sponsorships but they don't shove it down your throat every 2 seconds.
Well done for speaking out. Honestly in shock seeing how this played out and how this dragged on and on.

I’ve been waiting for the right time to bring this up. I’ve also had a bad experience with Taylor. Back in August of 2023 I went to view an e39 BMW 540i that Taylor was selling on a Friday. I looked around the car, took it on a test drive and we agreed a price and delivery. He messaged Monday during the day asking for my date of birth so he could fill out the logbook. He delivered it Monday evening and with it being late and me having other plans after I forgot to ask about the v5 there and then. I messaged him Tuesday and asked after the logbook to which he said he’d “dig it out when he was back at the unit”. Then nothing. I messaged and rang him multiple times over the next few days to see what was happening, all of which were ignored. Then on Thursday, he did finally send me through a photo of the new keepers slip to tax the car. Unfortunately it was the old style logbook so the code was incorrect and so it sat until I got the new logbook in my name. Upon receiving this, I taxed the car and began driving it around. When we made the deal originally he had mentioned an ABS issue and so we agreed on a lower price. However, more and more small issues appeared over the next few days, much less than a week in time. Then the head gasket blew. I messaged him about it and asked for a full refund and for him to take the car back as I no longer wanted it due to the constant issues. He said he couldn’t give a refund as he wasn’t in a financial position to do so and was stopping selling cars (which isn’t true as you can see on his instagram him advertising cars for sale well beyond August). I chased him on it, and all that resulted was in him muting the conversation so he wouldn’t be notified by my messages or calls. Over the next few weeks I saw him post on his instagram about his recent purchases of an Alpina and an e60 M5, proving he did have the money, but decided to do what benefitted only him. With it being the car it was in the spec that it was, it was worth a considerable amount of money, and I hate the thought that I paid for approximately half of the M5, if I had to guess.
Thank you for posting this video, it’s opened eyes if people who were unaware of how terrible he truly is and has given a voice to me and many other people who have fallen victim to Taylor, I’m so happy to see it all come crumbling down around him as he deserves it and so much more.
He tried to buy my Alpina back in August, I had a change of heart and he went out and bought a different one. It lines up with timings og your story for sure.
Did you not take him to court over the car? you were well within your rights to get your money back and returning the car if it was in 30 days

I wasn't going to post a comment, but after seeing what other people have posted I feel like I should. (This is a very short version of the story). I bought a blue Audi TT 3.2 from Taylor, back in July/August 2023. Viewed the car, looked good. Took it for a short test drive and liked it. While viewing I noticed a very very slight rattle, he was convinced it was a loose undertray etc. As he'd just changed the oil and might not have secured it properly.
Still, I went ahead with the sale after offering a lower price and he accepted. On the way home, on the A14 back towards the M6, I noticed loads more about the car that didn't seem right. And then, EML light came on.. checked the code, was mixture related. Over the next few days the rattle got so much worse. I took it to a local very well known VW V6 tuning garage, they confirmed it was the DSG flywheel. I also found both an oil leak, and coolant leak. Very clear, should've been advisories 100%.
I found it ever increasingly difficult to contact Taylor as the days/weeks went past. I ended up going to Caffeine & Machine after seeing he planned on visiting, had a good conversation about the car. We ended up agreeing for him to take the car back, for the full price I paid. It took a long time, but Taylor and Luke finally showed up at around 10pm a few weeks later to collect the car, and give me the money back.
I get the second hand car sales are always tricky, I know because I've sold a lot of cars myself. But if this was some random guy, I'd probably just have to take it on the chin. But with this much of a social outreach, and being in the public eye it becomes more of an issue. Especially when it's seemed to happen to a lot of people. I chose not to do anything else about my situation because it was resolved (eventually). But recent events have made me want to tell my story at least.
So in conclusion, I did get the money back, he was true to his word, he did offer to pay for some parts and repairs. But the contact issues, and the fact the car was a complete shed and the list of CLEAR stuff I kept finding wrong with it was enough. After he'd just put it through an MOT a few days before I viewed with NO advisories shown before selling, and told me his "mechanic" gave it the okay for him to sell after "inspecting it" but, no description of the faults the car had were on the sale post... looks like I was lucky enough to get the money back from some peoples storys.
Probably worth noting also, the car was back up for sale a month or so later for the price I paid, with no mention of the flywheel being fixed (the biggest fault). And it never made it back on the road, currently no MOT and SORN

Appears super nice and friendly but deep down he has no respect for anyone and is happy to screw whoever for his own benefit. The AutoAlex trio have generally been leaving a sour taste for a while now. I pray this video gets the attention it deserves, they keep acting like children with no repercussions.

I'm one of those people that was mugged off by Taylor. I lost thousands on a e53 around 18/24months ago. Bought from Taylor but had immediate issues. Ended up having to scrap after 8 months as was costing too much to fix and had no chance of passing an mot. All in I lost about 8k- 4k for the car and another 4k in work. On numerous occasions I reached out to Taylor via insta and WhatsApp and was totally blanked. I gave him the benefit of the doubt due to autoalex and just assumed life was busy etc. I had marked this down as bad luck and a life lesson, but seeing this video and many of the comments show how dodgy a dealer he is. Have shared this with Alex. Hope karma comes back around.

He bought one of the v8 x5s he had off of my mate, who had sold it to him for about a grand and told him, I stopped driving it because the gearbox or engine is about to window itself, he bought it “for a video” then sold it to someone for about 7k lol
Interesting to learn about this situation. Have been a paying customer of Gresswells in the last 12 months and have nothing but positive things to say about the workmanship and timeliness of the job.

After seeing Josh's fabrication work on the e34s, I'm saving up and hoping to take my own e34 to Cresswells in the summer, all being well.

This situation makes me really sad - that car was my friend’s pride and joy and I’m gutted that someone like that owns it and is now cobbling it back together. It’s a special car to me and it deserved to be restored to its former glory. The only positive I can draw from this is it made me discover your channel and I’ve watched and enjoyed every video since! Keep doing what you are doing!

I did think of the backstory to this car and how he’s done it no justice and isn’t deserving really and I’m sorry for you having to see it in this light but in no way is it anyone’s fault as he has us all fooled of what a nice lad he is. I’m sure the car will go to someone deserving in the near future who will love and care for it as much as your mate did.

I have watched their videos but never felt like subscribing, and now never will. I rope them together with channels like Schmee, Mat Armstrong and others that are just bloody annoying. The standard of work you have done on that E28 can be seen by all of us, it could never be called shit. You are bound to be annoyed and take it personally, but your loyal customers and fans of the channel won't be going anywhere, we know the score, try and put it behind you, move on and never make that mistake again.

It feels as if they’ve gotten too comfortable sticking to a format/content style which maximises their financial benefit whilst minimising the effort required.
Like buying cars under the guise of them being future channel projects etc.. only to be sold days/weeks later the second they realise it’s not going to give them the largest possible return in terms of content/money.
Same goes for the Pod, it’s gotten progressively lazier with each addition, with the guys now typically only talking about the exact same topics or the same BMWs/Big Pete they mention in every single episode. They used to include quiz-style elements, guests, dedicated/specific topics etc. But now it’s just repetitive small-talk and them reading out self-congratulating comments 😂

I had dealings with him on an E92 M3. Wasn’t great. I sold him it needing work. After him offering to do the work on the car. He took it and then gave me a price and then was quite sketchy about when I would get paid. I’d already taken a big hit on the value and then had to wait for him to sell some other cars for him to pay me. Took ages to get the money. He got a parking ticket in it that he also took ages to pay and reply about. I don’t believe he did the work. I think he flipped it for more hiding that it needed a new rear subframe but I have no proof of it. But the clear MOT was issued extremely quickly. Maybe he works fast. I’m lucky as I got my money in the end. But it wasn’t pleasant. As you can imagine I felt very silly giving him the car and not having anything to show for it for a while. But you live and learn. Sounds like he’s been very naughty with you. Hopefully if nothing else this brings lots of nice people to your channel to watch your great vids. As it has me. All the best 👍

Long time Autoalex fan, and always been a big fan of the Taylor I saw on the screen. So it is such a huge shame to hear of this. He's treated you in an absolutely abhorrent way, beyond ridiculous. He clearly has a pretty horrendous side to him.
Completely on your side with this, and yeah it's gonna stop me from watching their content for now. Which is a shame, because Taylor is a brilliant presenter and I'm sure there's a lot of good in him. But his immature and horrid side has just shone through with this, and by the sounds of it this wasn't the only occasion.
He made the first step, making an apology on Instagram (not the worst apology of all time, but not enough on its own). He needs to at the very least make up all the money owed to you and return the parts - though ideally go above and beyond that to make up for some of the time lost. Then address any other skeletons he's hiding in the closet, given that a couple of other people have shared not-so-positive stories. Then prove that he's actually taken on board everything and realised that he needs to change as a person - and demonstrate that by being squeaky clean.
After that, he might earn my respect back.
That's given me a new light to Taylor. Sad won't enjoy their content as much. Completely understand your frustration

I'll be honest, this is the first of your videos I have seen. I recall the video(s?) on the AutoAlex V2 channel and thought you seemed a nice guy and were doing good work, but while I love cars, I'm not one of these people who subscribes to every car channel and meticulously absorbs every second of content. BUT, I have been an avid follower of Alex and 'the crew' since the CarThrottle days. I really proud of what he has achieved now and now employs about 20 people, I think? That said, I'd be lying if I have not thought the AA content has been in decline for the last few months (thankfully offset by TDC absolutely smashing it).
That said, I have always felt a bit uneasy about Taylor. Maybe it was just a bit of prejudice based on stereotypical dodgy car dealers, but I found it hard to believe he could have built such a successful career in that field of work while being as nice, friendly and honest as he comes across - making me think that he is probably not that nice, friendly or honest behind the scenes. And seemingly that suspicion was bang on.
I was really shocked when I heard them slagging you off on the podcast(s). I had no frame of reference about whether it was justified or not, but regardless - them going on about their support of men's mental health and then ripping into you like a couple of school bullies was really jarring.
I hope Alex addresses this - it is going to leave a very sour taste in a lot of his fans' mouths until he does. And hopefully it gives them a bit of a wake up call that they can't act in this way (or allow Taylor to act this way) if they want to hold/grow their presence.

Oh dear. This was recommended to me from that Auto Alex video. I've never seen your videos before but its certainly good to have both sides of the story. I get the feeling Alex and Rory may not have the full story either. Hopefully they can be big enough to look into it and publicly apologise. They wouldn't want the bad publicity to affect the other channels that seem to be full of nice guys. Especially TDC.

As a long time fan and follower of the Autoalex crew I have to say Taylor has f’ed up big time. He is a typical sleazy car dealer and now has the advantage of being significant online. A very bad call taken by the crew to unnecessarily trigger someone who hasn’t done anything wrong but thats also maybe coz they only heard one side of the story. Well done Josh! A few things. I'm a former serving Royal Marine Commando and the relevance this has is due to mental health (as you mentiined in the beginning of this video). I asked AutoAlex and his clan to stop using PTSD as a joke/tool to humour people. I have a confirmed diagnosis (I'm aware that a vast majority of the UK, the public thibk they know what our services do, but they dont. This included the majority of the UK do not support our services) of Complex PTSD and they've used this more than once.
The other thing is, I don't trust Taylor nor the AutoAlex brand. When you become older, you tend to become wiser, especially my time in the forces. They're good with editing to portray good people, yet they have an ulterior motive.
I was saying to myself throughout this video that I would have been charging Taylor storage fee and do eat he did with his BMW 80's 5 seriers, request ownership of his E28 if he didn't come to collect within 28 days.
I agree, they're 30 - 40 years of age and we all like to have a laugh but it's very childish especially when they aired there laundry online. They have been called out for purchasing cars from people for a lower price by applying pressure, this is something they were called out on, and they addresses their actions on earlier podcasts.
Josh, I truly hope you manage to push forward, leave these two-faced cowards behind, and push forward with your reputable business.
As for Jack and Ethan and some of the other guys under the AutoAlex brand, they're okay, but Taylor, Rory, and Alex are very toxic individuals.
I hope they're reading this and take note to especially not joking about PTSD. It's not a joke. Examples can be made, and I mean examples in many forms. I agree with you John, go back 20 plus years and this wouldn't be dealt with over social media, it would have been dealt with very differently.

Stumbled onto Mr H Reviews highlighting your issues the E28, which lead me to you recap. Now I'm a subscriber and have binged watch the 4 video on the E28 and am addicted, great workmanship and very easy to watch. Really like the explanations on how your breaking the job down into stages.
100% to me sounds like Taylor has had a moment of, “I’m now an influencer, you should be doing this for free as I’ll get you more followers/work”.

This has been a real eye opener. As many others have stated,when they first came about i was keen to enjoy their channel. But recently they've become so jarring and very cocky! Your work is top notch and thank you for being so open about it all and them.

I bought a car from Taylor and it certainly wasn't the best experience, the ducking and taking months to respond doesn't surprise me, I bought the car needing a part he said he'd ordered and would send out to me, yet it took me constantly messaging to get answers on what was happening, took 4 months and when I messaged him I got pulled over and needed the part to avoid a fine (was an indicator stalk) he ignored me so I had to pay £70
This is downright evil, considering your business is your livelihood, he fucked you around and had no qualms in trying to bury it all in the mud. This is absolutely shocking.

Mate honestly this couldn’t have been a more open and honest video! Mad respect for standing up for yourself, what it boils down to is you have a reputation to uphold and mouths to feed bills to pay. When someone comes along and lies about something like a proven reputation, you’re left with no other option but to respond. I used to like Taylor and ignore Alex's onscreen jokes as him 'being dodgy' as banter. Then, and I can't remember whether it was on the main or V2 channel, Taylor was doing a piece on film regarding fixing up a car to sell when he found something quite bad... He just pulled a face and (I'm paraphrasing here) stated "we'll just let the new owner find out about that".
I called him out in the comments for it as I think it was something really expensive to fix and then my comment was mysteriously deleted😢

It does make me wonder if similar happened between him and Bruno on his 635… that was taking forever as well and they featured Bruno many times and were elated by him… only to find out when he finally picked it up it was done and finished by another shop. And Bruno has never been mentioned for a while in their videos.

Thanks for shedding some light on this... this hurts to know because I genuinely do like most of their content and Taylor SEEMS like such a nice chap, but as it turns out, he's two faced. I can't support people who take advantage of others, especially if they then slag off those who are just trying to make an honest living. I've noticed a recurring theme on that channel of all take, and no give. Thankfully it seems that now word is getting out, and they will be paying the price for their actions.
It is always sad to see people making fun/ talking down on each other in this scene, if any community, this should be the one where people can relax and not worry about negativity and bad mouthing, it is really a shame.
I know it is a bit different when you do this for a living, but the lies always get uncovered sooner or later, and when you live off this,the only selling point is your reputation.

People who “think” they “know what they are talking about” are very dangerous, especially when they have a platform to broadcast their voice on. Mix in the delusion of grandeur that these people get when people watch their content, and they don’t get what they want from suppliers etc. then it becomes a toxic mixture.
This person evidently didn’t understand the reality of buying a rust bucket and restoring it. They have been evidently blinded by 15 minute videos of car restoration, expecting cars to get fixed in a flash. This isn’t reality.
At the end of the day, you run a business. You don’t have time for dreamers and they need a reality check. There’s no excuse for owing people money, especially in business. Take the mickey and you will get a reality check. That’s what this Josh has gotten and evidently can’t take it, gets embarrassed and then has to act like he’s the one who’s been hurt and nobody else.
Lesson to all - don’t let these “RUclips creators” take advantage of you.
My personal advice? Don’t take work from any of these clowns without a substantial, upfront deposit. Substantial to the amount where if something “goes wrong”, you can walk away with a minimal amount of headache
Auto Alex channel's biggest downfall Is their dream to be top gear .
They have tried too hard .
Plus the branding of "auto Alex" doesn't fit anymore, and you can almost feel alexes anxiety to stay in control when he's on camera .
They need to re brand the channel to "auto lads " or something and start having fun with cars again.
The TDC lads are slowly becoming just clowning around too.. ironically all the gear is fishing out the most relaxing watchable content right now.
I don’t agree on the TDC, imo they make very enjoyable content and seem to remain true to their original concept
TDC have their highs and lows but overall I prefer their content over AA.
But I fully agree on ATG. Those two have managed to keep their video quality consistent and thoroughly enjoyable ever since the start. They are definitely my favourite out of the bunch by far.
If he tries to sue youf or this video start a gofundme, I'd donate for the legal fees.
Wow this is crazy. As a person who has had their life flipped upside down in the last few months due to people spreading false information and stories about me, this really hits close to home. I’ve always loved watching the autoalex stuff but hearing that this is what’s gone on I don’t know if I can ever look at them the same. You don’t deserve any of this Josh. My heart goes out to you.
I wouldn’t worry Taylor has a slightly unsavory side which is why I only watch the Auto Alex shows when he’s not there. Keep the videos up I for one enjoy them

Both Taylor and Alex have left responses on their Instagram stories now on this, Alex saying theres a internal investigation on this and Taylor taking the blame for it all and saying that he didn't tell Alex and Rory the full facts although he's had a little jab at Josh in his post too

Hi Josh, I’ll be honest, I only came across your channel because of Taylor’s E28. I’m really glad I did because I really enjoy your content. You seem like a really honest hard working guy that takes pride in doing a good job. I can’t tell you how disappointed I am with Taylor and the rest of the Autoalex team. It’s certainly made me feel a lot differently towards them. If I was Alex I’d think very carefully about continuing to allow Taylor to represent the brand that he’s worked so had to build up. Fair play for your dignified response to the piss taking comments on their podcast. I’d of found it really difficult keeping my cool in this situation. Keep up the good work mate and well done for standing up to those bullies.
Do not take this video down no matter how much they offer you. You're a genuine fella who produces some fucking excellent work. I was a big fan of those lot previously. They fucked shedfest up, leaving us in a queue for 3 hours then joked about it. They fucked that guy over on video and underpaid him for a car, got backlash then apologised disingenuously. Doing you over like this and havung the audacity to slander you is the final nail in the coffin. I've unsubscribed from all of their channels. Went to shed fest and I was sat in the bloody queue for 4 hours then was told they where full. Decided to give this years one a go but after watching everything that’s happened I’m not sure I’m going to go this year as I went to the Christmas meet at caffeine and machine and yea I liked it I just felt like it was rushed.
To whoever made the Macan comment, about it being the perfect car for Alex after all, on that podcast video, I salute you. I'm pretty sure it was deleted, but fk me did I laugh out loud at that.
It’s almost BAFFLING that he went on record on video saying what he did. Surely he should have seen this video you have made coming a mile off. You have all the evidence of what you’ve done, messages, videos of your work etc.

Though what I noticed from the start of the channel is their attitudes have changed as the channel grew and as they gained a bit of fame.
Absolute bastards the lot of them, the way they mugged the guy off from Southend with the Kcar and then acting like spoilt and giggling school girls was pathetic. The other channels linked to them like TDC and All the Gear should wash their hands. I enjoyed Alex on Car Throttle but since Taylor has been involved and the constant bitching about Car Throttle leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Taylor is probably used to bad tastes in his mouth.
Josh I am appalled by this story and can’t believe how badly you’ve been treated.
I’ve known Taylor for years, way before the RUclips shenanigans. It’s horrible how people can change, it’s almost as if they’re invincible with their wide audience agreeing and nodding with them on any situation. The digs at you on that podcast are outrageous, especially with Alex and Rory egging Taylor on to ‘explain’ what happened.
Credit to you Josh for putting this video online and setting the story straight. RUclips collaborations can be a very grey area to work within but you set out your clear expectations from the start.

I've seen Taylors "apology", and for me, it's not acceptable. As a business owner like yourself, Taylor should have been well aware that slandering your business like that can literally ruin someone's life, especially when they have the influence that they do. Either way, there was absolutely no need for it. Your quality of work is superb and you were more than accommodating with the E28 and Taylors terrible communication. Onwards and upwards mate. I’m glad you made this video, I really felt we needed to hear the full story so that more people can hear the truth. I have listened to them slagging you off in the podcast and I’ve called him out in the comments on that podcast as if he’s going to tarnish a mans reputation his side of the story just wasn’t good enough having muttered a few words about it, he clearly didn’t have anything to say about it as he’d be fabricating a lie (no pun), which is what happened anyways. Obviously having seen your videos we all know your work is top tier and the moment he said the work was bad I knew he was being dishonest. Good on you for shining a light on this, it’s a shame you’ve had to do it but they can’t be playing with people’s livelihood like that, it’s not right. It’s put me off their content and I can’t stand to listen to anything Taylor has to say anymore nor watch his videos on the v2 as all I can think of is what a two faced fraud he is. Too right he can spend money on all of these new expensive cars but can’t pay a man for his hard work. His true colours were going to show eventually anyways, like I’ve said before we’ve seen a glimpse of that in the Kei car challenge, which the Autoalex team was so apologetic about. They didn’t learn anything did they. Well done for putting that in the video too.

But with the context of both Alex and Rory raising the issue on the podcast and prompting Taylor to speak on it, they really encouraged him to slander the work and circumstances. Now they very well might not know about how Taylor has handled this, and may have only heard whatever it is that Taylor has bothered to report to them… but failing to do their own due diligence allowing an employee to gossip, speak poorly of another business, and misrepresenting any dealings in a manner where the intent is to broadcast those statements is problematic. Then in hindsight, they also made the decision to not edit and remove that from what was going to be broadcast. They aren’t really hapless bystanders here.

The amount of deleted comments on that podcast video, i was reading them last night and everyone was behind Josh. I went back again today to see if they had responded and they were all deleted, i have now unsubscribed form all the Autoalex channels except the TDC lads and all the gear. I hope they make amends soon.
Was waiting for their next video apologising, but can't be bothered. Have unsubscribed too, because deleting comments on both the podcast and their two most recent videos is a clear indication they are not sorry. Disappointed, because I enjoyed the channels, but their shitty behaviour is totally unjustified.
Unfortunately it appears that comments on ‘all the gear’ channel is deleting comments referring to this issue too
TDC and atg need to get the hell away from Alex before he drags them down with him. I hope they don't smarm their way out of this one like they did shitfest and ripping that poor lad off for the kei car
