I am 24 at the moment and I bought one when I was 22. I still watch this video every now and then because it is just one of the most relaxing things to do. See someone like Henry enjoy and ST with these cinematic shots
How can Ford not make cars like this available to Americans? It is a great car. Import it! That should be a strength of Ford, which should use it’s international strength to leverage offerings and business in America. Being just a truck company is a recipe for failure.
@@georgeapgar5718 sales, not enough people were buying it compared to the mainstream suvs, it is what it is. Even if theres loads of videos on youtube of north americans with fiestas and focuses sts, i guess it wasnt enough
What is really impressive to see in this video is the dynamism of the chassis at work, faster steering rack and the three-wheeling. This is what the ST is all about. Thanks for mentioning the tyres too. It looks like Ford has managed to improve the car. As a current Mk7 Fiesta ST owner, this is a great review and I am now looking forward to test-driving one myself within the next week! Carfection are getting better and better with every video.
Let's all contact Ford U.S. to Petition them to bring us the all-new Fiesta and Focus hatchbacks. Call or Write Ford Customer Relations and tell them as a potential customer how their decision has let you down
Absolutely gutted we won’t be getting this or the new focus st here in North America. Fords new strategy has left nothing but a mustang and the new focus active plus all of their trucks and big suvs. Take away the fun hatches that they had and they gave us a ST crossover instead. *cries*
Quinton Gooden you've been brainwashed by RUclips, as an ex Brit living in the U.S. our muscle cars are superior to anything Europe has. To be upset you can't get the fiesta st is sad, you have a case of the forbidden fruit syndrome.
Amazing review as always. I always liked the Fiesta ST, this new one looks way more polished, the new design is def a step forward (unlike the Focus). I've been saying this in every car YT channel. Please review old hot hatches, especially those forgotten ones (you can find Golf, Clios and 205 anywhere). This applies to any youngtimer really. Sometimes is nice to look back and see how much cars have changed.
Only things I'd take from this car and put in my mk7 ST is the interior, LSD, and launch control for a bit of fun. I'd much prefer the 4 cylinder 1.6, a bit safer to mod that way as well IMO.
Interior is what I desire - I have my 2014 FiST tuned so that gives me launch control! Definitely want that LSD... at least I have the chance to purchase one and install it myself.
Wife had previous st until recently, best car I've ever driven, and I've driven lots of nice cars. Done approx 1500 mile in wales for fun and love every sec. I agree with your comments but would add seating position and ride quality. Now in the market for a new company car and this is looking quite appealing. Personally I like the look of the new one
LSD can be fitted in a MK7 for £1400ish, very good mod. Launch control can be mapped in, but what’s the point in launch control in a car that is awful in a straight line, and struggles to get off the line?
Not entirely slow, but it's a handling car, not set up for straight line speed as most cars on the road would annihilate a standard ST. I know that because I own one, it's now running 338bhp and it's rapid from a rolling start but it's tricky to get a clean start.
Ford has been absolutely killing it with these Fiesta ST's! Wow! Incredible! My '18 ST, the last of American greatness of its kind will be greatly loved and cherished!
Great review as always. I like the fact that this ST is a 3 cylinder and not a 4 pot as it as you say gives it character. My first car- 1992 Subaru Justy 1.2 was a 3 pot and that had character.
People underestimate 3 cylinders, but the new Mini Cooper with the three cylinder is quite fast when tuned, and lighter than the 4 cylinder Cooper S. I really wish the Fiesta ST was still in the U.S., I was very close to getting one before going for my Cooper S.
It's not about paper performance, it's about the fact a four stroke engine is exactly that and when you have four or more cylinders one of them is going to be going bang at any given point, take away a cylinder and you have an imbalance. Manufacturers try and convince themselves they can get around this imbalance via crankshaft and heavier flywheels but it's just not there yet.
Thomas Pynchon before buying my ST 2 months ago, I had a 3cyl fiesta for a year/30k km. The car was perfect. The vibration is unnoticeable, the car is quiet from factory but half a 911 when you remove the muffler. I had ST springs on it, it drove like an ST but lacked the power. The best of it all I think it was my best car to drive in the awful Canadian winters that I get. I only bought an ST because some dickhead totaled the 3cyl when it was parked.
I owned an ST200 before I moved away to study, and that was an awesome car. When I move back to the UK this will be first on my list to go and test drive! I'm hoping by then Mountune will have another warranty-friendly tuning package.
Come back to this 4 years later, having just put a deposit down on a 2020 ST-2 and I'm so bloody excited. Wanted one when I first saw this review, and buzzing I can now get one.
Looks more like an MPV than a hatchback, but they have grown on me. A squat and flared RS version would probably look AMAZING, though. Let’s hope Ford don’t bottle it this time. EDIT: I’m astonished they added 100kg of weight despite the smaller engine. What the FUCK
That and the fact they've added A LOT to the interiors of these things. The B&O system adds a fucking subwoofer in the spare wheel well adds a good portion of that (class sound system by the way and if you buy one absolutely spec it) The power to weight isn't massively different and it's not like you're buying an ST for out and out speed anyway-you'd buy an i30N or something for that
Seems to be that this car is getting very positive reviews. I drive a mk7 fiesta ST and the extra comfort is very appealing. I love my fiesta ST. In the right road with the right sort of mood. I haven’t driven a car that had provided me with the same good sense of fun (maybe with an exception to the Peugeot 106 Gti). It’s a very well judged car. However I think the older car’s lightness had plenty to do with this feeling and I couldn’t help but comment on how heavy this new fiesta had become. For about the same size as the old car. It’s pretty much the same weight as a golf GTI!
Yes but the CAR is overall 100kg heavier like he said in the video. Tad made a joke about the engine block because led is heavy as fuck... I should not have to explain his joke szcz haha :D
No he's wrong, he is probably comparing DIN/Kerb weights with the new EU weight that includes a 75kg driver. Very common confusion. So it's only about 25kg more!
Fact is, Fords are cramped. The current Focus has a center stack so monstrously wide, I'm amazed they've sold a single one. Anyway, Ford have slit their own throats with shoddy reliability and cramped interiors. They can make all the SUVs and CUVs they like, but they'll remain cramped and unreliable compared to other makers.
I do wonder how long the engine will last when it really gets abused, a 3 cylinder working just a hard as the four cylinder did. Be interesting to know when the engine gets to 30,000 miles or so and any potential problems that could occur with a small engine.
Let's start a letter-writing or telephone-calling campaign to Ford United States to tell them we want the all-new Focus and Fiesta Hatchback 6 speed Manual Transmission cars to be sold in the U.S. Tell them they've made a terrible mistake in not bringing these cars to the U.S. market. Please join me in this effort! Let's convince them to change course and offer us these great hatchbacks. Thank you.
Have a 2021 built model on order now. Only just recently a thing here in Australia, fell in love with it on the test drive. Have driven a 2010 focus ST for 6 years haha
Cagnes sur Mer in Carfection !!! I never thought I'd see my small hometown on this channel hahaha, great review Henry. This is the dream first car for me
Lovely review. Henry's soothing voice making the world feel like a better place. ..as always. But Ford ,the wheels ,the wheels. They are horrible. The previous fiesta st had lovely understated wheels that no aftermarket option I have seen improved upon. These are overdone. A glaring flaw in a great little car.
Great little car. In my area of the states the fiesta ST is difficult to get. I was able to get a new Focus ST which i'm really enjoying. Hot hatches are great. It feels good to really enjoy driving again.
Still love my Mk7. This may be better, but nothing brings a smile to my face more than a good B road, a summer's day and my little fiesta under my right foot.
Totally agree, the rear is a mess. Designers have the most freedom in the rear as there's less regulation. A car with an ugly rear is evidence of poor design.
i absolutely do not agree. Looks much better in my oppinion. I did not buy the Old Fiesta exactly because of its ugly back which looks like a cheap chinese car of the 90`s. Like the designer forgot them when developing the car and just attached this unmatching tail lights somehow in a minute. Also the headlights look bad on the old one i think. Like women smokey eyes. More a girls car in terms of exterior. Well, we dont need to talk about the interior, there i think everyones oppinion is the same. Ugly as balls.
I want an RS. But I can't afford the bugger, whether it be in initial cost or economy since the fuel and insurance costs a fortune and I hear the thing goes through tyres like nobody's business. This seems like a pretty good sub.
So heart broken the US won't get this. The mechanical LSD is what it always needed. Just and awesome car. Wonder if they might have added a 3 cylinder to also differentiate it further against the Focus ST maybe?
"Unfortunately, America wont be getting the new ST... Sorry.. Moving swiftly onwards" blah blah blah im crushed. Definitely a step forward for the ST. Sad that America wont get it
I have the 2014 ST, and love the Hell out of it, it 54,000 miles on it and I’m on my 4th set of tires, I love driving on 3 Wheels and getting sideways. I would have definitely bought this new one just for all the new infotainment center alone and I love the new styling, I just hope that Ford will offer it as a Specialty order.
The car I’m looking at ford fiesta st-2 2018. has engine performance level high launch control does that mean it has the performance pack and the quaife diff?. Unsure about the amber ST light that came up next to the 1k rev as of yet thanks people
I love my 2014 ST, it’s at 60,000 miles with my 4th set of tires, I have intake & 3” exhaust, upgraded motor mount, short shift kit, gas pedal spacer l for better heal toe shifting and some sticky Michelin pilot sport A/S 3+. Every time I hit the Sport Mode button it puts the biggest smile on my face. I embarrass a lot of people in the Twisties
I still can't get around the fact that it's a 3 cylinder, I mean if ford really wanted to improve FE they could have implemented cylinder deactivation in a 4 cylinder too or at least keep the option to buy a 3 cylinder or a 4 cylinder engine.
Apparently part of the reason for the 3 cylinder is that .5 liter per cylinder is ideal. Keep in mind that the displacement is very similar to the old 4 cylinder. The 3 cylinder sounds so much better too.
Just to point out that the 100kg heavier comment is probably wrong. Hard to come by proper weight information for the new ST as most publications forget to quote to what standard the weight is measured, but most likely Henry (or whoever wrote the script) is comparing a DIN kerb weight without driver for the old one, with the EU definition which includes a 75kg driver. That would make the new one 25kg heavier, which makes a lot more sense. Since I have your attention, another shocker is that a lot of supercars are a lot heavier than you think, because they like to give you dry weights which can look hundreds of kilos lighter than it actually is when compared to how most other cars are quoted today, that is with all fluids, a full tank and a 75kg driver. The end.
Enjoyed this review & subscribed because of it. I am truly heart broken that ford has decided that here in the US, I don’t want the new Fiesta or Focus but instead they think I would rather have the eco sport.....😕 I think the new Fiesta ST is brilliant, especially in the three door body style and I would have definitely purchased one. I won’t be visiting a Ford dealer anytime in the future as they’ve decided to sell only SUVs, trucks, the Mustang and the new Focus Active. I can no longer afford a Mustang as it’s gotten very expensive with the V8(the 4cyl is a definite no for me) and if I want a lifted hatch I’ll get a Subaru so the Focus Active is also a no deal for me.
I live in the area this was filmed, it seems a perfect car for our area. Small, nimble and 10/10ths. I hope you made it over to Greolieres and the famous James Bond / Ronin car chase roads as well as Col de Vence.
Sold my previous gen MP215 because I couldn't live with the ride quality.. also it was such fun to thrash that I was simply travelling too fast for most of the time! Well done Ford - I'll perhaps look at one of these in 3 years when they are 12k for a low miler.
Had mine for about 2 months now, it’s a stupidly talented car. It retains what made the old car so good, but is a more comfortable, refined car day to day. The 3 cylinder engine is excellent, it sounds like a baby Ford GT, though my only gripe is that the engine has a very heavy flywheel effect going on, so rev hang is noticeable when you’re pressing on, second gear could also do with being a touch longer but I’m really nit-picking at this point.
Unless Ford have invented a three stroke engine to go with those three cylinders then they have shit the bed. It really shouldn't be heavier than the last one either. Three doors though, there is something to be said for that these days.
Im so glad fast fords have come back good.........they went from being awesome in 70s (showings my age) and 80s (xr2\3\i and RS 1600\turbo) to that kinda weak era in the 90 and 2000 where I dont know wtf they were doing.......they even had a Escort GTI and one point they were runnin out of ideas so much. But then in last 10 years or so its started picking up again and this last gen of fast fords is back to being totally fuckin awesome.
I am 24 at the moment and I bought one when I was 22. I still watch this video every now and then because it is just one of the most relaxing things to do. See someone like Henry enjoy and ST with these cinematic shots
What a glorious piece of film. I've been seeing Fiesta ST videos popping up in my feed and silenty waiting for Henry's video to drop.
How can Ford not make cars like this available to Americans? It is a great car. Import it! That should be a strength of Ford, which should use it’s international strength to leverage offerings and business in America. Being just a truck company is a recipe for failure.

thel0ne0ne Thank you!
I love that 3 cylinder sound. It makes the car sound so much more intimidating than it looks
That's a good review. Well done carfection team.
Yathu prem It is YES
Driving an old Fiesta right now, this is my realistic dream for the next one!
Love the 3 cylinder sound. The car sounds more exotic and gives the feeling of a big engine up front.

Great review. I'm a fan of the New ST and happy it's now a little bit more easier to live with. The engine sounds magnificent too 🙌🏽.
Sideways the 998 cc 3 cyl Fiesta rally car sounds awesome!! 😎🙌

Us Americans don't get really good cars any more. Just ugly and heavy muscle cars.
michael macfarlane I was so disappointed that we don't get the Fiesta st anymore especially with that new 3 cyl!

Any engine that's not an inline-6 or v12 will be imbalanced.
Doesn't that just guarantee reciprocating balance but fails to balance the last axis?
The Fiesta is not in the same class as a MINI. For example, Ford will NEVER produce a 300+ BHP Fiesta.
Henry! As an avid evo and mbr reader of the mid to late 00s it’s great see a familiar face still grinning down a twisty B road.

Check out EVO.
Really wish we'd get this in the states :(
Loving the car and the review. Congratulation to Henry and the whole Carfection team for the video...
3:41 The wheels doing that funky thing they do, goin backwards and forwards.

Peanus Benis i would blame the crash testing being brought in. Small overlap rear testing now at 50mph for fuel leaks. Cars have to be very strong.
That and the fact they've added A LOT to the interiors of these things. The B&O system adds a fucking subwoofer in the spare wheel well adds a good portion of that (class sound system by the way and if you buy one absolutely spec it)

I loved my Fiesta ST here in the US, what a fun car to toss around on a daily. I'm sad to see we will not be seeing this newer version.
imo Ford got such bad press with their Powershift transmission that it turned people off, then their sales slumped
Great review. Sad to see this won't be on US roads for many, many years.
In this review you've transfered emotion that comes from this hatch. I wish to have this one in the future
Ford does know how to make cars. One of the best manufacturers of all times
best review of any car I have watched in a long time thank you
Mine went into build yesterday! Can't wait for it to arrive!
Wow! Amazing review as usual!
Rejoice Rone Thank you.
You really did that cat justice with your review on it.
It's 100kg heavier than the old ST?! That's a significant increase, how did they manage that?
anotherone10 the new engine block is made of lead.
It's (only) 10kg lighter, Henry said that in video.
Sadly new Fiesta is a bit bigger, and propably have too many gadgets.
I bought a new one in the US.. Sadly we don't get this one..
Shahul Usman And the we don’t get the new focus st!!!
So much for the "One Ford" shtick. We never got the interior or wheel options, anyway.
A real shame, but we live in a nation where a stick shift is a theft deterrent :( and CUV addiction is rife.
In fact, it seems that Ford US will only be selling trucks/suvs. Quite a dramatic change imo...
Amazing review. I'm glad to hear that it's still as fun as the old one while being a bit more refined.
This is the best review I've seen so far. Fantastic. I only wish it were longer!
What needed to be fixed in the old Fiesta ST..has been fixed...now it is Brilliant !!!!
I do wonder how long the engine will last when it really gets abused, a 3 cylinder working just a hard as the four cylinder did. Be interesting to know when the engine gets to 30,000 miles or so and any potential problems that could occur with a small engine.
Test drove this today and put my order in straight away! Blue with the lsd in three door, can't wait!
love small Fords endless fun to drive and reliable
This video gave me chills. Excellent review !!
Thank you.
Great review by one the best reviewers - used to like reading his articles in Evo magazine
That three wheeling clip made me smile 😊
Now, this is quality review. Great work!
Henry you are getting better and better !
Have a 2021 built model on order now. Only just recently a thing here in Australia, fell in love with it on the test drive. Have driven a 2010 focus ST for 6 years haha
aaand the fiesta st review we've all been waiting for.
I wish they didn’t discontinue the Fiesta here in the States.. I bet that’s a really fun car
Great review by Henry, as always. Just a pleasure to watch and listen to.
So bummed we don't get this in the states. Good review! Your accent is much more tolerable than most Brits too :)
Wonder if this can support a 2L turbo. Maybe they will shoehorn the engine from the focus ST and call it a RS with 270 odd hp.
They will never make a fiesta rs because it would destroy the focus in sales
the 3 cylinder has a really nice sound to it, much better than the 4 cylinder in the mk7
Nice little car, I like the interior. Too bad we won't get it in the States.
As someone who owns the MK1 RS, I’m very excited to drive this ST
Cagnes sur Mer in Carfection !!! I never thought I'd see my small hometown on this channel hahaha, great review Henry. This is the dream first car for me

This little thing with LSD and m235 mountune package is all I want from car :)
If i could have any new hot hatch, it would be this.
Production of the Ford Fiesta is coming to an end in June 2023
Great little car. In my area of the states the fiesta ST is difficult to get. I was able to get a new Focus ST which i'm really enjoying. Hot hatches are great. It feels good to really enjoy driving again.

The rear end looks are off putting otherwise I would swap my own 2016 ST for one.
DarrelCooper it looks like a cheap Chevy, so confusing
Totally agree, the rear is a mess. Designers have the most freedom in the rear as there's less regulation. A car with an ugly rear is evidence of poor design.
Yea I agree, too high looking and a bit plain!
You can't see it while driving it!
i absolutely do not agree. Looks much better in my oppinion. I did not buy the Old Fiesta exactly because of its ugly back which looks like a cheap chinese car of the 90`s. Like the designer forgot them when developing the car and just attached this unmatching tail lights somehow in a minute.

Apparently part of the reason for the 3 cylinder is that .5 liter per cylinder is ideal. Keep in mind that the displacement is very similar to the old 4 cylinder. The 3 cylinder sounds so much better too.
I cannot believe you would axe this car for the second largest car market in the world after an Update like THIS
I got mine last week and absalutley love it 👍
It's a beautiful looking little thing.
Fantastic review as always
Great review, as always. I'm in love :)

Last 3 words you said are the ones that made me your subscriber.
Great review, great car. Some clever engineering has gone into this by Ford.
I have a 3 cylinder and at high revs it does sound like an air cooled flat 6
A great video as always! Unfortunately, we won't see this in the US.
I've a 2016 ST and I'm loving it. The engine is the one let down for me though. Would I enjoy this more and is it worth the upgrade?
The Fiesta ST is really all the hatch you need.
My mate Scally is getting one tomorrow. We’re going to get up early and have a race with my R32 on Saturday. Timed lap of A272. Like being 19 again
For every day use can the ST be delivered with a tow bar? How about five door option instead of just three?
Hopefully getting mine on Saturday.
Unless Ford have invented a three stroke engine to go with those three cylinders then they have shit the bed.
It really shouldn't be heavier than the last one either.
Three doors though, there is something to be said for that these days.
Very good review. What’s the MPG like given the two cylinder variation thats available?

Im so glad fast fords have come back good.........they went from being awesome in 70s (showings my age) and 80s (xr2\3\i and RS 1600\turbo) to that kinda weak era in the 90 and 2000 where I dont know wtf they were doing.......they even had a Escort GTI and one point they were runnin out of ideas so much. But then in last 10 years or so its started picking up again and this last gen of fast fords is back to being totally fuckin awesome.
