drunken boxing is the secret part of Shaolin style, the Monks learn that in times they are have to run away, then they built that form to fight nice stuff!
Fist, you could post more videos of forms, or the complete video. There are seven years watching this video, has a special way that caught the mantis and a butterfly, do not know if it's right the last. Thanks!
Concentrating that Chi like a true Shaolin. Shaolins do what people say humans cant. PERIOD... Nice to see a Shaolin Monk who does im guessing their version of Drunken Boxing / Drunken Fist Kung Fu.
The song is called "Nan Er Dang Zi Qiang",it's the mandarin version and is sung by Jackie Chan. There's a cantonese version called "Naam Yi Dong Ji Keung",which is used in the movie trilogy Once Upon A Time in China.
Monks spend countless hours of the day doing chores, reading scriptures, or meditating. In the early days, it was noticed that many lacked the energy to do these tasks. When basic exercises was introduced, they found that the monks were able to do mundane tasks much more efficiently. Later on a fighting system was developed not only for self defense, but also for keeping the monks in shape so they can perform better in their tasks.
I have seen this video so many times because it is just so awesome. I like how the music unintentionally sync with some of his movements. I like the song, and holy crap, those front HEAD springs are just fricken ridiculous. If I could do half of the stuff this guy could, I would die happy.
OMG 2:40 He was doing no hand somersaults! off his HEAD!!! Truly amazing! I wish I had the physical ability to learn this art. Would be very helpful for both my body's well-being and self-defence.
well they didn't used to fight a long long time ago, but bandits kept trying to raid them and steal their treasures and stuff, so they developed the fighting styles over time, at first it was just for defense, but it grew into a meditation practice as well.
i wana really learn this style of fighting cause they have the best balance of anyone its also soooo amazing to watch them fight to think that someone acting so clumsy could be the ultimate fighter
I wonder, in comparison to other techniques, is this a good one? I have not trained this, I am thinking about starting training karate this fall, but first things first..
Oh, I know that much. But, both Northern and Southern styles have forms that look very creative and unique, with movements that will not be used in a fight. So when someone bashes a form they see, I tend to just tell them, "The forms are for show. Each style has practical movements that are very effective in fighting."
@@karatekid3153 The original point of drunken Kung Fu is that it makes you very unpredictable in a fight and your opponent might underestimate you if they think you're distracted or not ready. It doesn't make you stronger per se, but it's essentially meant to confuse.
@SKZMatt so think i should do tiger? Because my taekwondo teacher sais i have alot of power in my form and one steps and yesterday i got 1rst place in inter-school tournement, in sparring. So should i learn something like tiger which matches me well or go with my weaker parts.
This is beautiful, such control of the body, such discipline, such consecration for the technique. I was chienese in my other life. Cheers from Mexico... although there's no RUclips in China, but, have my blessings anyways.
Right, they made a form developed around incredible balance and center of gravity, with focused techniques and intense training just to look pretty. NO fighting applications in any sense.
the drunken fist style is about practicing moving without balance and suddenly so that if your knocked off balance you can quickly recover and counter, it's also about being loose and having you bones and muscles adapt. It's a training style that wasn't designed to be used in combat on it's own. It's difficult to find someone to teach it because kung-fu movies overhype it to this epic level and people think it's going to get the gold medals when really it might only be good for embarrassing ppl
I am fairly sure that Drunken Fist was created solely so people were so embarrassed by being beaten up like that they'd never try it again. Serves them right too.
Shaolin Monks. Masters to be learned from and respected for sure.
im laughing but he would literally destroy me
replying to an 8 year comment all tho this is cool it has nothing to do with fighting lmao so maybe he would not destroy you
@@GinoTrickz replying to a month old comment, it is used as a form of discipline n he could destroy us with or without this
This is in my humble opinion, one of the most beautiful forms of movement I know of.
This is one of the best Shaolin drunken forms I’ve ever seen. Great expression!
The best Shaolin drunken form & performer I’ve ever seen! Wow fantastic!
