The Wellermen are just about the best group to perform this song. Just yesterday I received their CD and spent most of today listening to it. I thank you from the bottom of my soul you made it available. The Wellermen are without peer in acapella performing. Their harmony, vocal intonation and clarity of their voices are so superb it almost brings me to tears listening to them. They recorded a great selection of songs on the album, many I'd never heard before but will want to listen to again and again.

This is one of the most beautiful things humanity has ever come together to create. Those deep voices just somehow have the ability to touch something that´s deep, deep in us all, deeper than the sea the voices are singing about... magical.
yall know the meaning of the song right? the meaning of the song is A dangerous song to be singing...for any who are ignorant of its meaning." The song Hoist the Colours told the tale of the binding of Calypso (Marilyn's real mother) by the Pirate King and the first Brethren Court. It was also used as the method of summoning the Court to stand together in the pirates' most dire need.
When I was maybe 3 or 4 years old (74 years ago) I heard this song for the very first time. The only words I understood were, "Yo ho. All hands. Hoist tha ... tha" in a very deep male voice. After that, I hummed along as best I could. Even at that young age, to me it was a foreboding song that belonged to the horrors (sharks, giant squid, and otherwise ugly sea creatures) of the deep. When I was ten or so and would go fishing with my dad and something ominous would begin to happen, I would break out singing those few words I knew, and would continue humming. That's all I ever knew about the song until now. "Yo ho ..."
Because that is exactly when it is supposed to be sung..at the end of it all when you are at your most desperate and in need of great aid. Pirates of the Caribbean made great use of it and the history of the song.
When I started seeing videos the water and the boats and the sound of your all's voices, put tears in my eyes. I seriously would never get on those boats. You guys are awesome❤
Under the steely gaze of the Northern Lights, the vast expanse unfurls. No gentle caress of waves here, but a churn of endless grey, a canvas whipped by howling winds. Icy fingers grip at the lone vessel, testing its resolve against the unrelenting surge. This is no playground for the faint of heart, but a proving ground for the leviathans of the deep. Here, behemoths clad in barnacles pierce the churning surface, their mournful calls echoing across the desolate expanse. Jagged cliffs, sentinels of ages past, stand defiant against the endless assault, their peaks shrouded in an ethereal mist. The very air vibrates with a raw, untamed energy, a constant challenge to those who dare enter its domain. Only the hardiest souls, the veterans forged in the crucible of a thousand storms, would dare navigate these unforgiving waters. Their vessels, testaments to generations of hard-won knowledge, creak and groan under the relentless assault, each creak a story etched in salt and spray. Yet, within their weathered hulls burns an unwavering determination, a spirit that mirrors the untamed wilderness they navigate. For those who seek solace in the familiar embrace of calm shores, this is a realm best left unexplored. But for those who yearn for a challenge that tests the very limits of their mettle, the Northern Sea beckons with a siren song, a promise of adventure etched in ice and brine. So raise your sails, brave hearts, and set course for the untamed north, for only there can true legends be forged.

@@khansolo.69 The song was written for _Pirates of the Caribbean 3_ to tell the tale of the goddess Calypso, Davy Jones, and the Pirate Court. Below is my analysis (I did this years ago).

_the seas be ours and by the powers_
_where we will we'll roam_
The seas literally belong to the pirates due to having power over Calypso.

Fiddler's Green is an after-life of paradise for sailors where a fiddle never stops playing, but in the POTC universe, it is a tavern located in Davy Jones' locker. It might have a fiddle playing inside to fit the narrative.

_The bell has been raised_
