UAE to Saudi Arabia KSA by Road. Umrah and Leisure Trip.
FAQs
1. Documents Required
Valid Mulkia, Valid Six Months Passport, Valid Three Months UAE Visa, Valid UAE Driving License, Recent Passport Size photo (white background), debit or credit card for payment, Vaccination Certificate.
2. International Driving License

You can do it on border also but save time and money by doing online prior to reaching the border.

7. Car is bank mortgaged
No worries, no letter of approval required. Mulkia holder / car owner must be present, thats it.
8. Friend or family member can drive others car ?
Yes, but owner MUST be present by the time you cross border checkpost
9. Adding additional driver to KSA Car Insurance
Yes, you can add additional driver to your KSA car insurance free of cost if you do it online.
10. E-visa cost aprox AED 420 including health insurance
11. Cost of living in Makkah and Madinah
SAR 120 per night for three / four star hotel with 10 mins walking from Haram Shreef. SAR 70 per night with same walking distance in a not so well maintained window AC building without wifi.
12. Mobile Coverage
You can buy KSA local sim card, preferable STC / SAWA. But cheaper and greater option is use roaming package from Pakistani sim card. I got 1GB roaming data and 30 flexible minutes in just PKR 500 from Telenor. I did not buy any sim for the whole trip and surfed google maps, whatsapp and internet browsing easily.

Abu Dhabi City 140 kmh
After Abu Dhabi till border 160 kmh
Saudi 120kmh and 140kmh in patches
14. Car Models
Any car in good running condition is allowed entry in KSA. No restrictions on models.
15. Trip Ticket
Sometimes UAE authorities ask and sometimes don't. I did not do it and recommend not doing it. It will cost you AED 420 and you can do it online at the same time on border if asked. You can use MOI app for the same.

It will come after Taif. Both male and female showers are there, wear ahram, pray nifal, do niyat and leave for Umrah.

Tips
1. Download offline google maps for your whole journery wherever you are planning to visit.
2. Try to reach Saudi Arabia after Fajr and drive in day light at least for the first time because there are no street lights there on the highway. You will find one and two lane highways with no lights but speed cameras equipped.
3. Refill fuel even your car tank is half full or 60% as fuel stations are 150+ kms away from each other.
4. Try to avoid restaurants nearby Haram Shareef. Food is expensive and tasteless.
5. Keep snacks and water in your car. And take stops every three hours for 10 mins at least so your body can relax.
6. Keep small pillows for back and neck support as the journey is long to avoid pain discomforts.
7. Please please rest and sleep for sometime at any fuel station / rest area if you feel tired, dizzy or sleepy. Dont rush to reach your destination. Its better to reach late than not to reach. May Allah SWT protect us all.
8. Avoid unpaid parking in Makkah, car will be clamped and immobilized until you pay the fine.
