For the last one, you can change the icons for apps in iOS, I believe you can only do it by adding a shortcut that opens that app, and then you get to decide the name and icon of that shortcut, then if you remove the original app from the home screen (without deleting, it should be fairly obvious as they're two separate options) then you could have an app looking and named as whatever you want (for instance, you could do that to change Twitter's name back to Twitter, or you can change all your app icons to ones that look the same but are black and white, or pink, etc)

On the printer thing, I have an Epson refillable ink printer. It's a heftier upfront cost, but with how much I print for work stuff I've spent more money on ink cartridges in the prior year with my hp printer (I can't believe they're 60 dollars a piece and they have one for black, red, blue, yellow, gray, and a whole separate black ink, all 60 dollars each, to print. That is insane) and I bought just 1 gallon of black, Red, Yellow and Blue ink and I haven't run out after 3 years. And the gallons cost less than the individual cartridges. You use miniscule amounts of ink when you print and further investigation from jailbreaking my old HP Printer that they are designed to block you from using other ink brands via chips but ALSO are coded to "fake run out of ink" early. They are programmed to let you know you are low on ink at 60% and gradually start fading the ink at 50% so by 40% ink level it just doesn't work at all. It's because when you print other colors they use code and stuff with the other ink bays or whatever so they still can actually print with it properly if made to, but they just don't let you. Like wtf

In some jurisdictions in the US, you can't legally sell alcohol by itself at concerts/festivals/etc; however, you can sell a "meal" that includes both food and an alcoholic beverage. Kind of like someone who had to go to work or the same place often and the first few times they got all green lights and low traffic, so every time afterwards they always show up late and it never occurs to them to leave earlier. Leave your comfort zone...there is only so much metal and material in a closed universe...a better world is possible.

For anyone that experiences what happens at 2:00 , remember to go to your local DOT (department of transportation) for your state and talk to an inspector there. They'd be interested in hearing about mechanics shops ripping off people like this, since they can revoke that shop's license for doing so, if I remember correctly. Mileage may vary from state to state, as I only had (second) hand experience with my own state's DOT.
My granny got in touch with them after a mechanic shop ripped her off like in the video, and last I heard, the mechanic that worked on her vehicle at the shop was fired, because the owner was not about to risk his business going down due to that mechanic's actions. She also only had to pay what she had actually come in for (an oil change) and not all the extra shit they had tacked on.

They could utilize a cord on a brick design, but that would add cost and go against the convention. -- Also, these bricks did almost always have actual transformers in them, things have simply changed over time. Lightweight ones utilizing switching power supply circuitry (SMPS?) and other modern designs are /actually/ a fairly new thing (last 10 years maybe? possibly 15?). -- As an aside, part of the "issue" is that these designs came into existence back when power strips/surge protectors were far less common (think 1940-1970). Most people just plugged them into a wall outlet. The vertical design can go in the bottom of a 2-plug outlet, leaving the top plug free for a light, vacuum cleaner, etc. The horizontal design accomodates the possibility for two power bricks in the same 2-plug outlet.

Kmart still exists in Australia, it is one of the two low cost department stores (the other is Big W, and they are associated with the Big Two supermarkets, Coles and Woolworths). We also have Target, which is a marginally higher value department store, with the higher cost ones being Myers and David Jones.

7:53 I say separate the brick from the plug. Do like some laptop chargers and PC monitor bricks.
Also, new houses built with fast-charging-compatible USB ports directly on the wall and in power bricks. It's not hard to think of ways to integrate these things better and have them take up less space. Just move the circuitry somewhere it actually makes a little bit more sense. And especially since the EU forced the use of the USB-PD standard, I imagine that it may not be superceded very quickly, making this kind of investment a little less risky.

and if a wall plug breaks you could just take it to the dump or to a recycling section and buy a new one, which is very easy and fast to do

now both examples are just replacing the thing but i would think replacing the USB wall thing takes much longer

What is NOT normal here is that you pay more if you keep the insurance you had last year. It works the opposite way like everywhere else. You supposed to pay less every year, but no, you have to manually renew or find a new one, otherwise your price will go up by as much as 20% every year

Small tip regarding the extra account problem for news/magazine websites: you can inspect any website's html elements (basically website structures) by pressing ctrl-shift-I and delete any of them from your view. Unless the websites have some special integration of those popups, you should be able to just delete them (they will always come back upon reloading though).

8:48 One of the actual reasons that paying every month instead of once or twice a year is an 'Employee' must process the payment (even if that 'Employee' is a computer program) and needs to be paid for their work and/or there is a Transaction Fee involved in moving your money from your account to their account.
But the MOST honest reason for the extra cost is because you wanting to pay in a non-industry-standard way is an excuse they can use to claw more money out of you...

I've been forced to but 6 inch long extension cords FAR too often because of this shit! I REALLY wish the manufacturers would save all of us the headache and just build their frigging products with the extension cords already wired to the damn transformer...

The answer is that you can't move the 'brick' to the middle with things like cell phones- the ones that have the plug and transfomer brick as the same thing have to reduce the power load to a far lower amount.
Having it in the middle also puts far more strain on the wires, making them more likely to break, which can be a fire and electrical problem risk.
