Originally written by Ray as a possible B-side for ‘Apeman’, the track includes previously unreleased versions and excerpts of several Kinks tracks from the Lola album as well as added spoken word and sound effects. It is a concept piece about which Ray states “The isolation caused by Coronavirus can give people time to re-evaluate the world and re-assess their lives. Music can comfort the lonely, transcend time and it’s not the future or the past, yesterday, today or tomorrow. It’s anytime”. He adds, “I saw a way of making this unreleased 1970s track connect to an audience in 2020. I also saw a way of showing that music can time-travel, that memory is instantaneous and therefore can join us in the ‘now’. I put this together as something surreal then realised that it was really happening. ”

With their gorgeous melodies and perceptive, often witty lyrics, I don't think any rock band embodies compassion, humanism, and empathy as effectively as The Kinks.
Im there too, man. The Kinks Are famous...But shouldn’t they be a tad more famous? Davies/Davies are a formidable songwriting team by anybody’s standards. LONG LIVE THE KINKS!!!
Pontiac Soviro That doesn't change the music. Also, you can't write songs like that for 50 plus years and be utterly lacking in compassion and empathy; it would be impossible to do. Thirdly, that's his personal life and I wasn't there; none of us were there so it's hard to say how bad it was or wasn't. Fourthly, and anecdoteally, I have met Ray Davies several times and he has always been warm, kind, compassionate and gracious to someone who he didn't know from Adam. Fifthly, my impression is that he's a troubled man in many ways. It doesn't excuse his behavior, but I would imagine being a creative genius and a highly sensitive person can kinda mess with your head and make you shut down or go in the opposite direction at times.

How great are Ray and Dave Davies as songwriters?! Lennon/McCartney and Jagger/Richard(s) get most the British Invasion credit and quite possibly should -just thinking as I write, here. I still think there’s room to argue a long overdue case for Davies.
