  • Four compositions by Elizalde played by himself in the late 1920s. The first record is a bit eccentric, so the piano sound is a bit wobbly. But these records are so rare that I still found it worthwhile to upload it. Brunswick was (at least in Europe) Decca's premium label, selling for 2/6 (two shillings and 6 pence), the average day wage for an unskilled workman in those days. You were not bad off if you earned 2 pounds a week for a six day work week. Records were a luxury that many people could not afford. Hence the cheap labels sold by Woolworths etc.
Brunswick was a premium label and would only be bought by the seriously rich, so quite probably no more than 100 copies of this record were ever made, if that many.

Elizalde was a fantastic piano player and composer! Have you heard his "Brandy and Soda" or "So True"?

No, I haven't heard them. These early Brunswicks, even in re-issue, are rare as heck.
They were originally issued on British Brunswick in the 1xx series. I doubt that more than 250 copies were ever pressed, maybe even as little as 100 copies. Sound and pressing quality are way below par, but the music is superb.
