Very rare do we see safety battles in pro 8 ball. I love these tactical games! I never watch pro 8 ball because they almost always go for the do or die shot when in a jam. I really enjoyed this match.
These commentators...do they actually bring any insight into the game for the viewer? In game #6 he played it perfectly to take the rack...can't fault the guy for that...
The only negative to these streams it's the commentary they have on them. Trying to guess or foresee every shot and 1up each other. We don't need to hear that all the time.
Whoever runs this tournament (Predator apparently) needs to talk to their commentators. This CONSTANT, and I mean CONSTANT, over analyzing every single shot and acting almost like they are in competition with each other has to stop. It is just too damn much.
Lol well said, the Europeans have ALOT to learn about this great game. Maybe they would have a chance to learn some if they stop going out of the way to try to make Shane look bad. Nothing worse than commentator bias, we don't we don't do this in the states
This is like watching these guys throw a golf ball into a basketball hoop. Hope WPA enjoyed having the best players on the planet. Next year it will be a bunch of 15 year old kids.
Congrats to Shane. It is hard to see him struggle so much at times this year. This match was a very good example. Easy missed shots. Bad position play. This has been a major theme for Shane all of 2023. The other thing I have noticed is that SVB doesn't act like he is actually having any type of fun. He almost looks miserable. Although I think he has a solid chance to win this tournament, maybe he needs some time off.
I know from just work experience, it is hard to travel internationally. Some of these guys might have jet lag coming into this event from Hanoi, but they rarely complain about those kinds of things. They are also playing on different type tables within days. It all makes a difference.
@@junem9710 SVB has been struggling like this for most of the entire year, even when playing in the United States. He just isn't the same player right now he has been over the years. He has a real shot in this tournament, and I hope he wins it. But I will not be surprised if he plays a better player and makes silly mistakes. It has been that way the entire year.
@@jamesdavis8731He has placed high in several tournaments and won a couple. If he isn't winning or placing high in every tournament, then people say he is playing bad. I see it over and over. Everyone expects these guys to play perfect. The competition is getting tougher the last couple of years.
Commentators are aweful. Please give Lonnie a chance. A WPBA commentator who does excellent job. Great with guest. And her voice is perfect for speaking.
I am for using a jump cue. But, instead of coming up with weird rules or a full cue is allowed, just ban jumping period if you don't agree with jump cues.
Jumping with a full cue is MUCH more difficult. I love watching a well performed offensive jump shot but i think a full length cue is a good compromise.
@@donkeydiehard879IMO, all or nothing. I know that the biggest complaint from a previous pro that lives by me is that he thinks that jumping should not be allowed period. He doesn't allow them in his pool room. He also thinks that people should learn 2 and 3 rail kicks instead.
These guys are not so bad as commentators, But they are not. They actually play in the tournament. I will not complain because they may try to slip George Taachea in to comment, then believe me you will never complain again. I do kind of like Predators approach to these tournaments. And they sure pay well. I really like that they use the correct ball colors !! Predator is still fairly new at the major tournament promotion but they sure listen to the players and are very responsive to correct. Not so much the other guys. They just bully the players into submission.
They could be really good if they decided not to analyze every single shot. It is just too much. It gets irritating very quickly. As for George Taachea - ya, he is awful.
Glad to see the right colors of balls on the table. The silly pink 4, purple 5, horrible pale green etc are maddening to watch. Whoever allowed that needs their pay revoked. Complete morons. Glad to see Shane is human and whiff it on the break. Sadly I do it entirely too often.
Yeah. But in 8 ball you have to create your own pattern, which requires more thinking. Plus your position has less margin for error, like straight pool
Tim is the worst. And is well known to continuously bash earl Strickland while is playing, if he is commentator for his match. Besides that they both stink at it.😢
Gutenberger made a stripe on the break which allows him to stay on the table to keep his inning going. He then opted to play safe which means the table is still open for Shane to choose solid or stripes.
Many different rules of this game depending on league, tour, tournament, location, ect. The table is open after the break in this tournament, no matter what balls you make or don't make on the break.
"he got unlucky.." no its physics. There is very little luck involved. There is a lot more good luck than bad luck in billiards but ultimately the balls do what we make them do.
"I don't remember the balls..." This guy is a pool announcer? I guess I can't blame him, since there are now about 5 different color 'schemes' out there. Some conference somewhere should lay down the law and get us back to a single standard. Those old TV cameras that caused that crap are no longer around. Modern cameras allow us to distinguish the colors just fine. These balls look like the original color scheme. That's the way they should all evolve back to. But your announcers should maybe play a couple racks so they can familiarize themselves again. It isn't exactly like riding a bike.

Almost wet myself laughing at Shane's missed break. Almost tore the cloth.
13:35 Even Svb is human 😂
Wow that bank and break out on the last rack by SVB was a masterpiece
Thanks for the spoiler!
@@chrisp.9172 not to be that guy, but technically he said Shane made a great shot in the last rack doesn’t mean he won

Yah that was a gorgeous shot
Even Efren would be impressed.

Yea, I think your right, he needs to take a break from pool, and pace himself, when he comes back!
Great comments !!!
Is the table 7,8 or 9 feet long?
9 feet

A very hard fought battle. Excellent pool, all around.
Why do we need commentators?
At 37:55 is that not a foul?

What I freakin shot in the final rack
Good job
Voy a tener que dejar de visitar esta casa ya que ni caso me asen

That background music!! Uggh!😖
can someone please tell me what table size they are playing on?
9 foot
Shot clocks for POOL are stupid.
Is Shane no longer using the extension for his cue?
Not the whole game. He used it as needed in this game.

9 ball needs better positional play than 8 ball. you only have one option on the table
Yeah. But in 8 ball you have to create your own pattern, which requires more thinking. Plus your position has less margin for error, like straight pool
How is it not loss of game when Shane scratched kicking the 8?
I was wondering that too
WPA rules - it is only considered a loss of game if you foul and pocket the 8-ball.
25:14 you mean this? i don't even know how that's a loss he just scratched the white and it will be a common foul which is ball in hand🤷🏻
@restudwi5928 I've always played scratch on the 8 = loss. Any scratch while other friendly balls are tabled would just be ball-in-hand.
#13:39 😂😂😂🎉
I resent that they keep say lucky to make a ball on the break

The commentayors talk way to much . Shut up would be nice !
I'm sorry, these comementators know less than the "4's" in my league.
Picture quality went from 144p to 240p intermittently.
This player is fucking slowly
35 minutes in how is Shane able to hit a stripe combo into a solid , even the guttenberger is stripes off the break
Gutenberger made a stripe on the break which allows him to stay on the table to keep his inning going. He then opted to play safe which means the table is still open for Shane to choose solid or stripes.
