- T/N: In Japan, calling someone without the honorifics (Also known as suffix such as -kun, -san, -chan) suggests of close relationship between the two parties. In most situations, you would call someone you just met by their surname instead of their first name while adding a -san at the end.

Ah! I have a twitter acc also btw :D
It's here: / yuna_desuyoo
She really wants to start calling her "my wife"
Flare and Noel are so cute together
Man im a single boy and i'm jealous about that :(
Easy solution, just call each other darling, sweetie, honey, sweetheart, dear, babe or something else.
Anyhow, I don't mind what Flare decided to call Noel as long as she doesn't suddenly call her Noel-san, lol
Just thinking about it send a chill down my spines. Lol
Like some broke up couple😂
I guess this is a case of asking Noel what she prefers. It is amazing that Noel already fits Flare's preferences without knowing about it lol
This brings Noefure てぇてぇ and Flare's cuteness to a whole new level. Flare's so cute!!!
Noel: Fu-tan~ (girlfriend)
Noel: Flare~ ( *WIFE* )
Meanwhile her girl is bathing with another women.
Well, it can't be helped, since if Flare join in, it will become Flare's harem. lol
@@kl9686 Nah, this has been pretty much Noel's harem since over half a year ago.
@@yoursonisold8743 This is so true 🤔 Marine for example seems to be seriously into Noel from countless clips I've seen ages ago and even now. She's so into Noel even more so during offline or irl meet ups when they're not streaming. But Noel is so loyal to Flare and almost always never flirt back even as a joke. Maybe that's why Marine mess with Flare instead to tease Noel and coz she isn't as vocal as Noel and usually goes along with it. Im sure if Noel wasn't into Flare and very vocal and loyal about it, more holomem would actively flirt with Noel lol
_Flashback to countless times Flare touches said women's legs_
@@moonstar2122 And even then many of the members already are head over heels for her regardless. Subaru said she wanted to marry her, Lamy is always all over her and getting charmed by her, Ayame and Aqua were heartstruck during their dates with her... people seriously underestimate how popular Noel is. She is often called the kindest member in Hololive and it earns her a lot of admiration.
Flare agressively flirted with girls before, but she never actually properly enarmored anyone (except maybe FBK and Rushia). She also kinda stopped once her relationship with Noel got serious. Noel still captures hearts without trying while being loyal lol
Thanks for the translation man. I need this kind of teetee after a hard day
Found new tl-san, naisu!
I've always wanted to get this part clipped and translated because I couldn't fully understood it and thought "wait is she being for real or am I just hearing things (about her stop calling Noel with nickname, like a boyfriend would with his wife)"
Thank you for this 'o great one!
Can't wait for the misunderstanding arc
**points** Dey faqin'. Something happun and now dey faqin'.
Thanks for translating!
I would assume they're like kanata and coco's relationship, they both can just act casually around each other and call each other without the suffiix
new tl ch deserves more subs!
I was wondering why Noel and Flare called each other differently. At first I though Noel was too shy and something, in the end it was just some subconscious TeeTee happening in between them. It's so goddamn precious how they aren't even fully conscious of it!
Technically, for future reference, Noel would be the one being less shy here by a long shot.
0:53 for some context. Japanese communication is complicated AF
Yeah calling someone by *just* their name in Japanese is kind of intimate. Or rude, if you're not at that level of familiarity.
owo yesssss more noeflare english content
Love the translation
That's really sweet.
Very てえてえ. New subscriber here.
I’ve always wondered this but do they cal each other by their Hololive names irl, too? It makes sense so they never slip up. But then when In public that would be an issue too. Hmmmmmm
My guess is that they call each other by real name in public and character name everywhere else
The way I think of this is like, when you play games together with your online friends, you call them with their usernames right? Not with their real names, at least, I do this.
But when my online friends and I go outside to hang out we call with our real names.
@@SnazEM783 only one friend calls me my username. But I could see it.
@@ksiyaskid It might have slip ups....but you can easily get used to using the online names only in the web and real names in real life.(There was a time where my friends used nicknames, until we decide to stop and we just did...without any problem)
Do you watch Neebs Gaming, the people who run that channel use their nicknames rather than their real names, and they NEVER slip
Calling for the name? What is next? Handholding!?
handholding already ??? you are too lewd
Women being called by their first name, scandelous!
How about Christmas Chan.
Don't worry Flare, we all know you actually wanted to call her Darling or my wife. It's okay we know
I prefer Noe-Pon myself. Like in that marine/Noel/flare clip.
Thanks for T/N. I though that adding suffix means closer relationship than without suffix.
Not really? In fact, name without honorifics implies exactly being closer than any other way of speaking does. Generally used either in family, or between lovers.
It's tricky with -chan because it's a pretty intimate suffix in a way, but can still be seen as more distant than no suffix at all in some contexts.
For a fun example of someone using -chan to maintain a distance, check this clip from Kaguya-sama: ruclips.net/video/N0btfGyoxNM/видео.html
That's why i said "generally"... There are bound to be exceptions, i mean, it's Japanese, ok.... They love to complicate their own language xD
Also regarding "chan"... Well, yeah, it may be used as "intimate", but usually also adds some "immature" intimacy. Well, not even immaturity, but "childishness".... I guess it's hard for me to trim my words down to it's actual difference thanks to my non-native english
Basically -chan is playful, a bit childish, and pretty casual, but doesn't really tell you anything about the relationship besides that they can speak casually and playfully to each other.
Whereas no honorific at all is pretty much reserved for very close relationships, or being intentionally rude if you clearly *don't* have that kind of relationship. Or I think when you're being very urgent and forceful in what you're saying to them in that moment. It's certainly not something you do lightly.
Uhoh? Whenever I post in chat, to the streamer, I usually just say the name. So that’s a big no-no. Gotta remember to add -chan to their names. 😔
i mean its not really a big deal if someone in chat says it.
@@Rikhard9 Probably. Chat goes by way too fast anyways.
as far as I know, if you're speaking japanese maybe its nice to call "Flare-chan" or "Fu-tan".
But if you're speaking english I dont think we need to add "san" or "chan" since english have no such system. (but its fine to do so)
other members :
Noel = Danchou (The fan don't use Noel-chan )
Marine = Senchou (The fan don't use Marine-chan)
Pekora = Peko-chan / Pekora-chan
Rushia = Ru-chan / Rushia-chan
Can we get some aqushio
I've read somewhere that when we call people by nicknames, it makes us feel closer to them, for example, parents having an especific nickname to call their kids (My parents call me by the same one they gave me since i was born, it'a embarassing, i'm already 25), your friends may call you by a different nickname, and your significant other will also have a special nickname for you.
But Flare might be an exception. Since she likes to be called by her name, calling others by their names makes her feel closer to them, or maybe just for Noel.
That's true, but it needs some extra context in Japan. The important factor here is the lack of an honorific but, traditionally, first names aren't used in Japan among peers. You'd typically start with Shirogane-San, and work your way through different levels of hierarchy or friendship from there (with some very specific exceptions). Using someone's first name in Japanese, by itself, not only indicates an extremely close relationship, but also confidence that the feeling is mutual. Noe-chan is less intimate than Noel, and also much more childish. Think of it as though your significant other started using your parent's nickname for you. As Flare touches on here, Fu-tan is something you can get away with saying because other friends are using it. It sidesteps the issue of gauging your friendship in a way that just using Flare or Noel doesn't. Essentially, Flare could feel as though she's accidentally gone from talking to Noel like she's her wife to talking to her like she's a friend. But even if that's not the case, she feels like she's gone from using something that's concretely intimate to something that's more ambiguous.
@@ICEHVMK Good point. Honestly, i've forgot that in Japan they don't really call each others first name unless they are really close and intimate, since i'm the complete opposite.
Yeah it's not really about nicknames in this context, but the specifically Japanese significance of calling someone by *just* their first name without honorific. That's something you only do when you're very close.
